Today I (Joti Brar) spoke with Garland Nixon about the contradictions at the heart of the declining imperialist camp.

Why does the Trump regime need constantly to ‘talk up’ the markets, to talk up US military and economic power? Why do European imperialists agree to such humiliating terms when new ‘deals’ are announced? Is this proof that west Europe has been colonised?

We talked about the superstitious reverence western workers are imbued with from birth regarding ‘the rules’ and ‘the law’, leading far too many of us to become endlessly caught up in trying to find the right law with which to fight our corner and bring some corrupt institution or individual to account.

But who makes the law and who does it apply to? What about international law? Does it really exist? Did it ever? How did the Geneva Conventions and the Nuremberg Tribunals get replaced with the ICC and the ‘rules-based international order’?

We also discussed the fascistic laws and regimes of repression that are being rolled out across western imperialist societies with minimal resistance. This is all part of the Nato bloc’s drive to war, and the leaderships of the mass working-class organisations that should be helping us defend ourselves from these attacks by the class enemy and oppose its criminal war/genocide machine are instead helping in their implementation.

We don’t need Corbyn 2.0 in 2029, we need a mass campaign to reclaim/rebuild our unions and other organisations right NOW.

Earlier this week I talked to Garland Nixon about why it is that workers in the west feel so powerless in the face of their ruling classes. Why do we think there is nothing we can do to stop the genocide in Gaza – or any other attack by the exploiting class on our conditions of life?

We talked about the crucial role of bought-off leaders of our mass organisations and trade unions – a layer of controlled opposition whose role is not to help the working class use its collective power but to make sure it doesn’t.

We talked about why it is important that workers in the west join the fight to overthrow capitalist-imperialism. And we talked about what a mass campaign of non-cooperation looks like, and what we should be doing to demand that it is built.

Ranjeet Brar, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) delivers the closing speech at our celebration to mark the 108th anniversary of the Great Socialist October Revolution of November 7th 1917.

There have been many revolutions, but not all have had the same significance - because not all are able to perpetuate themselves as the new state apparatus, and create a lasting government that goes on to benefit the people in a creative and positive way, embodying the ideas of the movements and masses that brought about the revolution in the first instance.

The October Revolution was such a revolution, and moreover it was a popular mass uprising against the tyranny of Tsardom and Reactionary Capitalist Imperialism that had not only created a world groaning under the weight of colonial slavery, but was drowning that world in blood in order to re-divide its markets, resources and wage-slaves among the chief imperialist powers, the Robber-Barons of finance capital.

The October Revolution, in Lenin's words, broke the iron circle of imperialist ties, and the workers of all countries applauded them and supported them for their brave action - that showed the clear path forward for all workers and oppressed. "Peace! Bread! Land!" was the slogan of the October Revolution, and it was the Russian Revolution of October 1917 that brought the end of the 'great' inter-imperialist World War.

This year we also celebrate the 80th anniversary victory in the Great anti-Fascist war (WW2), in which the Heroic peoples of the USSR gave 27 million lives, and the Chinese People a staggering 40 million lives in order to vanquish Fascism.

Fascism was the naked aggressive terroristic dictatorship of the capitalist class - which the latter resort to when the workers rose in revolutionary temper, organisation and action - in order to suppress the workers and drown the revolution in blood. 

We see today, that in the face of its global crisis of overproduction, in a desperate attempt to save the moribund capitalist system, that the NATO countries, in particular the Anglo-America imperialists and EU imperialist ruling class, have resurrected fascism and are waging desperate wars against he Peoples of Russia - this time using Ukrainian Fascist strom-troops - and waging a genocidal war upon the peoples of the Middle East,  notably in Palestine. They are fighting too in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Congo, Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali, and continue to tighten their financial and political stranglehold upon all neo-colonial countries, while attempting to subvert the socialist nations of Cuba and the DPRK, and all independent countries - notably those of BRICS, with an overwhelming strategic vision and dream of bringing down Russia and China and securing once more their 'unipolar' world order.

Yet for all that, the tide of global anti-imperialist resistance is rising. We salute all who have joined this heroic struggle against NATO imperialism, and say unequivocally that British Workers too must break our chains of bondage to our ruling class and join that fight.

As the forces of reproduction develop quantitatively, the relations in production transform qualitatively, just as applying heat to water eventually turns it to gas. AI is merely a developmental flag-post in the inevitably developing forces of reproduction and as it approach the bubble burst, we will be thrown into another capitalist crisis. The only way in which we move forward is socialism. AI must be used to help the mass of workers, not to enrich the few.

George Korkovelos, Cultural Secretary of the Communist Party of Great Britain (M-L), gives a short but powerful presentation of the lasting cultural legacy of the Great Socialist October Revolution of 1917.

Lenin and the Bolsheviks, in revolutionising Russia, set culture the task of going amongst the working class and peasant masses to truly serve it. The masses must be elevated to the heights of culture. Culture should not be flattened to its lower level.

The October Revolution was a true renaissance in human activity and this was reflected in the flowering of its culture. 

Turning from words to song: George introduces Comrade Eleanore who sings three beautiful songs, each of profound revolutionary significance. 

1. “Song of the Volga Boatmen”. A timeless song lamenting the oppression of the toilers, sighing under the oppression of serfdom in the Russian Empire. When Robeson sung the song he united it with the masses of the oppressed throughout the world, in particular with the sufferings of the oppressed black workers and peasants in the USA itself.

2. "Whirlwinds of Danger," an English translation of the Polish socialist revolutionary song "Warszawianka". Paul Robeson recorded a version of this song, much loved by the English and Welsh miners and working class. It was a song sung by the revolutionary people’s movements abroad Europe, from Poland to Russia, during the period of the 1880s until the October Revolution.

3. “Bravely, comrades, let’s march”. Lyrics by the revolutionary poet Leonid Petrovich Radin, written in 1897 following his imprisonment in Moscow's Taganskaya prison for his dedication to the liberation of the working masses. This song led the Russian workers to October and, enduring the Civil War, resounded on all fronts as the marching anthem of the Red Army.

Comrade Eleanore’s beautiful voice brings these sacred hymns of the working class to life for us once more.
