Kirby's Friendship Fantasy - Hyper Zone

Don't be fooled by the cover art. It's actually a cover that uses the SNES version's instruments. I had a bit of a brain fart and forgot that I probably shouldn't be using the 8-bit version's title but, from the first, the way it looks instantly conjured in my mind what became the thumbnail.
I spent almost the entirety of the second Dollhouse stream making that 8-bit edit of Wonderland's world splash.

9 days after posting on private-- still not sure if I like this mix, but I like it better now than I did at the time of writing the first part of the desc. Not to mention it's been a while since I put anything up, so I'll put it on public for now and worry about changing the mix later.

I've actually been working on stuff pretty much every day, but never reaching a point of completion for any of them :-/

I do feel like I've had some growth in my abilities with C700, mostly within this past week or two. My knowledge of theory's definitely shrunk though, over the course of the summer. God dammit.

Update: added in the low end harmony at the start of the song. Also added the glissando, the timpani and crash cymbal, and brought back the 2nd flute in the parts where I'd muted it. Reverb settings are also different.

Was working with a song that was in 6/8 yesterday and for some reason that triggered my memory of the start for this song-- i.e. one of the only parts that's actually memorable. It makes up for that though by being memorable enough for the whole song.
Anyway, I went and found a MIDI for this first movement, which is longer than the 2nd by like 4 minutes.

Even though the riff is the most memorable part of the song, it still does a lot of neat things. I discovered this when I was messing with the patch events for the viola. Some parts sounded better with guitar, others with saxophone, so I swapped back and forth.

YEesss, I cheated by using the Ocarina of Time solo string for Vln. I and the ensemble patch for Cb. I'll probably rectify the former in the future. Not the latter, because SMS doesn't really have bass strings and unlike the Solo string it's not extremely obvious.

I've been messing around with the game sequence for this a lot the last couple days, ever since I learned how harp pedal markings are written. I'd gone to update a MuseScore sheet I'd made of the song, since I now knew how to properly orchestrate for all the instruments involved in the song. 
Turns out, the only thing that ACTUALLY came of making that sheet was probably the SNES LotR arrangement I did of it a couple years ago. IDR if I even used it for that, though, I may have used the in-game sequence again. 
I hadn't ever posted it on MuseScore like I thought I had, and I don't think I posted a MIDI either. Which, at least in the case of the former, is a good thing given what I know now, that being the old sheet was not up to standard.

Anyway, the first thing I did was utilize MuseScore's transposition algorithm to shift the minor section to relative major and vice versa, which sounded neat. Then I shifted those manually to become parallel minor/major instead which didn't mesh as well. 
Then I stumbled across an interesting phenomenon that was the result of A) shifting the key quality for all instruments but the oboe and B) the oboe's melody consisting mostly of tones that wouldn't clash with an otherwise relative minor arrangement. To put it simply, the melody remains the same, but everything ELSE is transposed to be in the relative key. I still want to work with that some more, & perhaps make it a sort of Lorule "Gepora Kebora" tune.

After that last idea, I had another idea of doing negative harmony, since it's everything flipped around a particular axis, a la parallel worlds. I don't think it quite works well enough for a Lorule K.G. theme, but it brought to mind the owl's face when he's sleeping, and that was kek. It *also* brought to mind the cute little scenario I supposed at the start of this description.

Wanted to use some SNES samples that I don't use very often, since I felt I was relying too much on the tried-and-true sample bases lately. I've also been wanting to find something interesting to do with Hornet Man's theme, and Super Mario Kart seemed like a good fit.

Q: Why do I use the Wario Land 4 soundfont to some capacity for so many tracks?
A: Because I love the way it sounds, obviously. Half the reason why I'll start making a MIDI in the first place is that I want to hear what it'd sound like with the Wario Land 4 soundfont.
