Your Only Ally

An experiment in progressively adding more instruments to something. The melody is simple, but catchy. 

Fun fact: this song came into being when I first began work on 'We're the best'; I thought it was neat, so I saved it as a separate little project before getting back to work. Of course, due to the similarities, I'm going to add it to the playlist, because I'm lame and can only come up with completely original things when I sleep (true story). 

I guess (parts of(?)) this would play for whatever the equivalent of the Undyne chase sequence is; probably the bit towards the end where V.I.N.CENT and Maximilian finally duke it out. Depending on how far into the chase you were, a different part of the song will play (the first part playing at the beginning, the last part playing towards the end, obviously).

Run away! (Partially original)

I like this song. I also like transcribing songs that I like. Hence, this thing. The original is better, I feel, but I think this sounds close enough to the original to warrant uploading.

Telstar (The Tornados) Arrangement

The idea came from when I was thinking about Ganon's laugh from the Zelda II Game Over screen and "Feel Gooderang, Inc." at more or less the same time. I think I did a good job of emulating the "Half Singing, Half Talking" effect for that first part.

I wanted to transcribe this song, so I started doing it. Initially, though, I couldn't get the beat right, and I also had most of the instruments from "Hotel" in use already, so I inserted the background guitar deal, made it match the other notes, and then just kinda did the rest of the song.

I pitched 'Blue Wrath Hotel' up in FL Studio to see if I could get it to match the pitch of the original 'Hotel' background guitar, and I found that it sounded good at +240. Then, I slowed the tempo from 140 to 96 (the tempo of IRSWE), and I liked how THAT sounded too; made for a good combination. Finally, to add to the chillness effect, I removed some of the background guitar's notes. Then, I did a little bit of moving around for the Vives parts. Obviously, most of the instruments were changed to match that of IRSWE; multiple instruments use the Vives instrument, so at certain points, it makes it sound like improv jazz, which is a nice bonus.

By the way, I made the sprite edits you see in the image, if that wasn't obvious.

I've had this in storage for quite a while but never got around to exporting it to mp3... for some reason.

Man, Great Juju Challenge did my girl Fauna dirty. I swear to God, the only reason she seemed like a bitch was because she wanted to impress Tak but Flora was busy being a dipshit square. 
They both had their own ideas on how to help Tak with his quest, but unfortunately these ideas clashed with one another. It just so happens that Fauna has a good amount more fight to her because unlike her sister, the patron saint of asexuals and plants, she displays animal characteristics, including the "My Way or Highway, I Know Best Because I Am Cool" approach to things, an abstraction of animal behaviour.

Then Tak 3's writers were like haha wow what a cunt *scribble scribble*

They made Flora blander too, but a big part of her whole character was that she was a schoolteacher type of personality, so the blunder's harder to notice for anyone who isn't either playing them all in a row or a hardcore loser like myself. 

A lot of characters in Juju Challenge suffered from "enforced flanderization" as a result of having a different team of writers, I guess you could call it, though, with the only exceptions being Lok, (MAYbe Jibolba & Tlaloc), and the characters created specially for 3. Tak's character was actually more fleshed out though, as a result of the changing of the guard, which is cool because it ties into the underlying coming of age thing the series had going, and can best be summarized by comparing the situation to how I'm much more of an autonomous being than I was, say, even as recent as my joining SoundCloud.

As always with these Tacc Traccs, I ended up uploading to YouTube a version that I thought was the final one and then it ends up being replaced less than a day later with a superior version. Gloomleaf was no exception. Props to @throwawayface for making that wimvuh tho.
Would you believe that I spent a mildly embarrassing amount of time looking for an Overdrive sound that wasn't garbage (i.e., *didn't* sound overtly MIDI as fuck), and in the end, ironically, the SC-55 Overdrive Guitar ended up being my rescuer? the best choice for representing the guitar, and it's literally from the HQ version of the default Microsoft MIDI soundfont?

Such a shame that the MIDI format tends to frown on pitch-bending going anywhere past 1200 cents and turns it into bitch-bending anywhere past that. I even went in and repaired it for the VGMusic upload, and I'm pretty sure it didn't stick. 
which can be... frrrrustrating.

But yeah, anyway, that brings me up to 4 completed Staff of Dreams tracks. Come back in a decade and I'll have finished them all. ...Possibly three years before that even, so you wasted your time going forward so far. M'LEHHHH
If *I* had a time machine I'd go back to a time when girls like Debbie Reynolds's character from Singin' in the Rain were commonplace, because that is the exact kind of girl I need in my life. They make such sweet old ladies too, the lot of them.

I spent way too long looking for an image of the regular Dream World background (I already have both Nightmare World backgrounds). Didn't even find it, but to be fair I accrued a bunch more Tak artwork while I was looking, so it's certainly not a loss. ...No fuckin' clue why I can't find it again-- I even remember how it had something like "daytime" or "day-stage" in the file name and how that was fucking stupid (and also, that is like the epitome of "concept art filename", for real).

*Appreciate it; altogether it took me something like 8/9 hours. The first 5/6 to listen, write down what I'm hearing, switch instruments, repeat over 200 times. Then, many months later, go through it all over again, this time to write down the Preset/Sound Bank relationships for each one, because I didn't the first time, and my laziness came back to haunt me once I started fiddling with Polyphone, intending to rename the WL4 presets and make my life easier.
