An artist finding notoriety under his Stories Of Others pseudonym, Joseph Dodd has quickly risen to prominence with a clutch of high-profile releases. 2018 and 2019 saw the "Edo Lake" and "4+6" EPs signed to Stripped Digital before Stories Of Others joined the Particles roster with a highly distinctive and memorable reworking of Color Ray's "First Light" in March 2020. Now making his full EP debut, "Dukun" is typically impressive opener as a fizzing percussive top line rolls immaculately across the near 7-minute piece. Trademark innovation is immediately in evidence as syncopated woodblock and rich melodies sit in perfect harmony while an evocative bassline adds weight. A smorgasbord of spine-tingling sound awaits at the breakdown before the title track hits its straps once more in the second half. Continuing the powerful sound design of its partner track, "The Clown" provides the listener with an immaculately programmed rhythmic foundation that revels in reverb-laden claves as a metronomic bassline sits perfectly underneath. Cleverly used toy box sounds pierce the sonic spectrum with imagination and ingenuity before a sumptuous layer of detuned and buzzing pads add texture in the latter stages.

A creative talent with a rich history of releases on the Proton Music and Particles catalogues, Erdi Irmak returns to the label for the first time since a 2019 remix of Hansgod, after 2014's "You're Either Guilty or Not Guilty" album shone a light on the Turkish artist's musical soul. About to reveal its sixth instalment, the "Hidden Arcadia" series on Proton Music has created a powerful vehicle for the Erdi Irmak sound while his remix of "Dukun" here, is a powerful reminder of artistic talent. Making intelligent use of the percussion found in the original, he creates a new foundation from which trademark organic synth phrasing and ethnic vocal phrasing flow elegantly. New motifs emerge at the mid-point in layers of immaculately harmonised soundscapes as rhythm and expert production technique create an imaginative remix to remember.

From the base of the Sierra Chicas, Julian Nates has been a rapidly rising star from his Cordoba home. An accomplished musician, proficient in both violin and piano, Nates has found himself featured on an impressive list of blue-chip labels that include Clubsonica Records, onedotsixtwo and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. April 2020's "Luminism" EP marked a notable Particles debut as two original tracks were joined by remixes from Imran Khan and Ejaz Ahamed. Now returning to the label for a debut remix, the Julian Nates interpretation is a driving progressive house number that generates dancefloor power courtesy of a heavy kick and off-beat house percussion. A running arpeggio adds to the subtle energy while the overall melodic vibe of "Dukun" is maintained is intelligent fashion. Subtle variations come to the fore at the mid-point breakdown as textured pads create a dense, swirling atmosphere that leads into a second half where rhythm and arpeggio combine to impressive effect.

Creating a rich new narrative of spirit and magic, "Dukun" finds Stories Of Others at the height of his powers, ably assisted by Erdi Irmak and Julian Nates.

The latest release from Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint finds the label presenting the third installment of its ‘Re:Imagined' series. With the inaugural edition landing in February of last year, these Various Artists EP showcases take a look back over the label's catalog, presenting new interpretations from some of the freshest talent in the underground. Not bound by genre or style, the first two installments in the series earned praise for their contemporary blend of organic, progressive and deep house sounds. Now presenting the third installment in the series, Sound Avenue invites Analog Jungs, Forerunners and Andres Moris to re-interpret tracks from Mariner + Domingo, Madloch & Matias Vila and amhain.

Returning to the label and providing the lone interpretation of Mariner + Domingo's ‘Le Carnival' is Analog Jungs. Based in Cordoba, the Argentinean duo have been one of the progressive scene's most inspiring acts in recent years. Support from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren along with releases on Hope Recordings, Mango Alley, Or Two Strangers and The Soundgarden have all been sensational. Having made their Sound Avenue debut in 2017 with a joint EP with fellow countryman Antrim, Analog Jungs now return to Sound Avenue with a gorgeous rendition of ‘Le' Carnival'. Clocking in at eight magical minutes, the Argentinean duo draw on the main themes from the original with a more progressive inspired framework. Warm, key changing grooves, dusty percussion and balmy atmospheres marry beautifully across an emotive first act. Re-processed for a hazy, harmonic feel; the lead theme beams brightly during an expansive centerpiece, gently building emotion towards a blissful finale.

Making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of ‘Reading Souls' by Madloch and Matias Vila is Forerunners. Famed for releases via Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Antrim's Or Two Strangers and UK behemoth Anjunadeep, Brenden LaBonte a.k.a. Forerunners has earned a legion of fans for his progressive creations. Based in Arizona, the US artist is choosey in his projects and focuses on the finer details when it comes to production, making for immersive, slow building tracks that tantalize your mind, heart and feet. Having appeared on label affiliate 3rd Avenue in January of last year, Forerunners now steps up to parent label Sound Avenue with a rousing rendition of ‘Reading Souls'. Taking square aim at the dance floor, the American artist works devilish effects and crunchy rhythms over a full, rolling groove and dynamic percussive arrangements. Indistinct vocals and airy phrasing add depth and mystery as momentum builds across the first act, perfectly shifting energy into a break of tense atmospherics and a heady final movement.

The release concludes with Andres Moris making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of amhain's ‘Antecedent'. Based in Argentina, Andres Moris has been touted as one of his country's fastest rising progressive house talents. Although only eighteen months into his production career, the Cordoba resident has already earned the support of Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J, while landing releases via Balkan Connection, Droid9, Movement Recordings and Or Two Strangers. Also notching appearances on Sound Avenue affiliates 3rd Avenue and Future Avenue, Andres now makes his much-anticipated Sound Avenue debut with an emotive take on ‘Antecedent'.

'A legendary figure within the underground dance scene, Savvas has been involved in electronic music for three decades. A veteran of the DJ circuit and a production career dating back to a 2011 debut, the Greek artist has been a familiar sight on the likes of Anjunadeep, The Purr and 3rd Avenue. A trio of remixes for Proton Music have seen reworkings of Erdi Irmak, Rick Pier O'Neil and GMJ as Savvas now releases his debut EP on the label with "Reminisce".

A sonic triumph with a beautiful melodic narrative, the title track lilts enticingly along its 9-minute journey with a delicately flowing lead line. Beautiful piano phrases add to the sonic tapestry as breathy vocal and complementary motifs create a stunning work. A rolling rhythmic groove and deep kick provide the backdrop for "Momentum" to continue the rich melodic atmosphere as free-flowing lines and subtly plucked guitar themes resonate gently. Through a beautiful combination of counterpoint phrasing the track oozes class and craftsmanship. Characterised by a glorious broken beat rhythm, "Reflections" harkens back to a bygone era of progressive breaks as sublime melodies flow, juxtaposed to a chunky rolling cadence. Full of delicate touches that evolve and blossom over the 6-minute piece, the track hypnotises with a repetitive sonic beauty that culminates in a powerful woodwind sequence post breakdown.'
