There will come to exist a forgotten future land, a time and place where technology is indistinguishable with magic and black science is pursued by those who would wish to unlock the secrets of reality. In the depths of the planet’s darkest night, whilst the village of Ethrane slept in the embrace of the mountains above – a trio of explorers of the veil between dimensions were about to break the barrier between this universe and the next…
It was the sprawling face of black eternity that greeted them, spilling through the rift and eviscerating them – flooding through the deep tunnels of their order’s bunker and up into the cold, free night. It moved swiftly, sleekly positioned between dimensions and descending upon the village below. Rapidly it fed – blinking the unaware citizens with precision across time and space with its bleak fields, displacing their purest and most prime out of existence and across the dimensional skein.

Zen polymath Sebastien Mullaert’s project Circle of Live marshals a raft of diverse global talents for ‘free-flowing collaborative jam sessions in clubs around the world’. This time round it brought together the Swedish musician himself, plus Spazio Disponibile gaffer Neel and the moody soundscapes of German techno-pundit VRIL as part of their ongoing collaboration. What’s clear for anyone following these three trajectories: the trio couldn’t be more perfectly aligned, their occult compositions are bound by a set of influences that border on the metaphysical. The music itself: meditative, deep, ruminant and transformative. Textured layer upon layer, these preternatural melodies and jerking beats are sublime astral audio from another dimension: Bassiani Podcast 170 is a freeform and mind-expanding journey through uncharted waters recorded live at the club back in December.

Jeff Mills got his start in Detroit in the 1980s, he is considered a luminary in electronic music, recognized for his contributions not only in techno, but in classical music and cinematic composition. In this conversation, @axis-jeff-mills discusses his love of moving images, and his quest for moving forward.
