Brand new on Ignescent comes something different. A true double header, with two tracks each from the super talented Agressor Bunx and NickBee. Always showcasing the faster, harder end of the music, Ignescent means business.

Ignescent’s first two releases have been met with both success and acclaim, and they are ready to do it all over again with 003, which sees the label’s vision expanded through music from two of the hottest names out there. Drum & bass from Ukraine has never looked stronger, and names like those on this release will take the music far into the future. Take a trip on IGNT003.

Agressor Bunx start us off with Club Shake. This one erupts like a storm from its electronic opening, dropping into a major main section, with force and power. The bass rumbles as samples and effects flash across the spectrum, leaving you in no doubt of the Agressor’s intention. This one’s a perfect start to the four-tracker, rolling along with some space age funk. AB continue with the frighteningly good Deadwalking. This one cuts and struts, the sounds of a cyborg race being created. Fall deep into the underground, as the robots soon take over all frequencies. Not letting go for a minute, Deadwalking grabs a hold and takes you far, far away.

NickBee provides Resistance with his first effort, showing off his full range of sounds and flavours as he delivers yet another killer tune. The track builds slowing, cutting and chopping into the drop. Tribal
percussion finds its way into the mix, alongside sliding synths and low, morphing bass. Nick always provides something different in his tracks, and this is no exception. He finishes out the EP with Matrix, a
view from the edge of madness, with sliding, stuttering sounds and an advanced sense of funk. Exploring new territory is very much what Ignescent Recordings are all about, and you’ll definitely find something new inside the Matrix.

Life is said to run a little slower in Vienna, and this laid back attitude is shimmering through all of Dorian's productions, be it the raw & rugged tech funk of the EP's epic lead track 'Ritual', the chimes-laden, sultry warmth of 'Worlds', the roguish oldskool vibe of 'Breeze', or the lush cosiness of 'Hypnos' descending to grimey depths.

The return of Task Horizon has been anticipated since they suddenly slunk from the forefront of drum & bass in 2014. However, from that moment they’ve been working meticulously on their craft, one which has become more and more definitive throughout their career whilst hitting another crescendo with this next release.

And alongside their reformation, they’ve also kick-started the imprint which became just as notorious as their music. Their self-release imprint was a creative platform which Task Horizon formed to expose some of their slickest cuts; for those who knew about the imprint’s importance, as well as new fans waiting eagerly in the backdrop, its comeback will be just as revered as its head honchos. With a thriving new team, they’ve delivered a tearaway double-sided single which underlines a new period for the production outfit. 2017 has been the year for independent imprints and Task Horizon are elevating the game once again.

Your first reintroduction is through ‘Forbidden Planet’, a cut-throat, sonic exploration of the skill set Task Horizon have fashioned within their Swiss solitude. Stepping out daintily on a foreboding, twisting introduction filled with tell-tale sample snippets and lightly snapping percussion, an ominous melody weaves throughout the mix like a spectre. The track’s crunching snares then crash forward, ripping into its skeleton and detonating all-out anarchy. Bit by bit your synapses are fully enveloped, before a titanic drop leaves a seismic impact ricocheting from its beginning to end. ‘Forbidden Planet’ has already set a standard for their arrival.

Task Horizon, the four-piece group hailing from Switzerland, is a name which was synonymous with high quality drum & bass around the world and their return has seen them ascend once more to this position, following the launch of their self-release imprint. Made up of a self-proclaimed mad scientist music producer/DJ, one equally mad professor of music, and two sound technicians, the outfit had already proven their aptitude following releases on Blackout and Cause4Concern. And their most recent output ‘Forbidden Planet / Rogue Transmission’ further solidifies why they’d garnered such a fearsome reputation, although it also gave a snapshot into the progressing sound spectrum they now rule supreme over, developed during their brief hiatus. 

Their latest offering, ‘Nostromo/Hyperion’, further forges their path towards technically flawless, evocative drum & bass.

A-side ‘Nostromo’ highlights the groups’ prolific sound design, delving deep into the sci-fi world of neuro and writing a story all their own. Deep beneath the brooding waves in the Northern-most waters of the globe, the wreck listed heavily in the grip of the weighty current; guiding it’s infernal, slow descent with its cold touch. The void below awaited, the edge of the abyss mere meters ahead. A shimmering and terrible form emerged from the dark turquoise periphery, vast and cruel-looking, its tentacles unfurled against the decaying frame of the ship. Tens of suckers reached out with their voluptuous rings, gently brushing against the surface, seeking a way in. It could sense the death here, the swollen corpses within proffering the rich scent of succulent flesh – particles of those who once lived slipping between the planks and out into the ocean. It hungered… the heavy need to consume, driving it forward more quickly as it wrapped itself around the sailors’ tomb. A tentacle slipped through a porthole in the gloom, its faceteeth gnashing in anticipation, chattering cruelly and nervously. It slipped inside the black interior, appendages reaching in all directions for the meat it craved. It found the first of the floating corpses in moments, curling itself around and lowering its beak upon the fragile skull, crushing it easily and inhaling the bloody water deeply. The OCTOPUS shuddered with pleasure as it reveled in its putrid meal, fading deeper within the darkness to hunt its next morsel.

The ever-evolving EATBRAIN imprint welcomes an exceptional and exciting fresh producer back to the fold, with the Dutch-born KOLT bringing his debut EP - OCTOPUS – into the appendages of the label. Following up his well-received initial track ‘Perforate’ on the ‘Divergence’ compilation, which also features on the EP, Eatbrain returns for more of this young creator’s fresh and exciting sound. Featuring 4 tracks of pure energetic mayhem, with an exceptional and pointed sound design ethic that straddles multiple sub-genres of drum and bass, the OCTOPUS EP delivers a unique and highly kinetic outlay with razor sharp edges. With such a significant first step as this, it’s almost certain that we’re likely to be hearing more from KOLT on EATBRAIN in the future.

CHRIS.SU makes a return to his own FATE RECORDINGS imprint with his WITHOUT YOU EP, a four track effort that sees him cover soaring melodics, hard edged sonics & deep rolling basslines with equal precision. As a 20 year veteran of the drum & bass scene CHRIS.SU is no stranger to such wide ranging sonic output, and such has been the focus of his FATE RECORDINGS imprint since its launch in 2013. The WITHOUT YOU EP marks CHRIS.SU’s first solo release since his Solar Eclipse EP released on 2016, and its clear that these tracks have been crafted with meticulous dedication to his diverse style.

WITHOUT YOU opens the EP alongside the lovelorn vocals of FEDORA which glide effortlessly over a driving beat, creating an experience of cathartic harmony as their sonant cries ring out at the track’s peak. TENSION carries with it a harsher attitude whilst still immersed in a sea of harmonic pads, the graceful undulations of which give way to the shifting movements of a fierce bassline that winds its way through the track’s sonic mileu. RAINDUST, the EP’s collaborative effort with NYMFO, tracks a course between the poles of the previous tracks. Herein, cascades of ephemeral vocals pervade the spaces between a deep rolling bassline as it moves through the track’s spacious sonic environment. The EP is then closed by the liquid mix of the titular WITHOUT YOU, amplifying the track’s emotive atmosphere atop the steady pulses of its refashioned bassline.

With the WITHOUT YOU EP, CHRIS.SU returns with a dynamic flourish of his musical ability, touching on multiple styles of drum and bass while crafting them to fit his signature sound.
