Task Horizon’s hiatus was a mystery felt throughout the world of drum & bass; secluded within the mountains of Switzerland, their scrupulously engineered cuts once littered the sets artists across the genre’s spectrum. And when they decided to close another chapter of their musical careers in 2014, their absence struck a chord. However, three years later the outfit returned already garnering support once again from tastemakers at BBC Radio 1. And for the New Year, they’ve delivered a five track EP of standalone tracks and collaborations for Eatbrain, a label who’ve taken dominion over the underground’s most vital corners.

The foursome are about to unleash their technically orchestrated ‘Overclocking Reality’ package onto the masses. Its title-track rolls out with a deceptive intro, one which begins to swell amongst rolling drums pads and ethereal synths. Up next comes a collaboration with German stalwarts Neonlight, delivering a melting pot of stellar musical aptitudes. ‘Enigma Machine’ is fast paced, unforgiving and oozes with menace, whilst featuring orchestral undertones that nod to the expert musicality of both production groups. Magnetude also jump on board for ‘Immortality Protocol’, another sci-fi inspired record pumping with extra terrestrial samples and metallic percussion. Next up, ‘M-920 Cain’ crashes forward with hollowed kicks and robotic vocal snippets, a dancefloor-lead anthem which is chaotic in its detonation.

And finally, your aural synapses are snared by finishing track ‘Flight Simulator’. Each electronically keyed note and rattling hi-hat leaves you mercilessly submerged, before the record breaks down into growling bass riddims and fluctuating distortion. Task Horizon has resurfaced and with the platform of a formidable imprint. Beside Eatbrain, they’re marked to once again inject their vision into the DNA of drum & bass.

Deviant Nature A.K.A Jay O'Sullivan started writing electronic music toward the end of the 90's. It was an inevitable progression, he'd always been in love with music, and had been buying and mixing records since 1996. Jay's interest in creative expression has been the catalyst for numerous projects, gigs and collaborations across several genres and aliases. For his Deviant Nature persona, the main focus is the the darker realms of drum n bass: a tapestry of powerful beats, nasty basslines, rib-rattling subs, brain tweaking synths and a certain twisted funk that makes you want to simultaneously smile and grimace. Bass Face! 

Resident with Sub:Bass:Invaders and owner of Blackbelt Recordings, Deviant Nature is also currently working with This Chris, together forming Smash Syndicate. Current &amp; future projects include DnB, drumstep and fresh dubstep material including collaborations with vocalists &amp; other musicians. Lots of exciting stuff in the pipeline from both Smash Syndicate &amp; Deviant Nature in the near future.

Suspended amongst a web of cables was a woman who stood upon the very precipice of humanity. Skin shared equal space with metal upon the surface of her body, and within her mind, neurons fired alongside a wealth of transistors. Into this mind flowed an endless torrent of information transmitted through the arterial cables surrounding her. Indeed, it was an interesting question whether her body truly ended at the edges of her human form or if it enveloped the whole of the facility itself, for without such symbiosis neither entity could survive.

The woman’s existence was exemplary of an age old bargain brought violently into the future. In sacrificing her freedom to even move as she once did, the woman had acquired power unknowable to any other. From within the secret facility, the woman watched and listened to the city above through the vast network of cameras and sensors ever present in modern life. A modern mythological horror with a million eyes perched upon a web of her own knowledge, those select few who knew of her had given her a sinister name: The Spider. From her web she ruled from the shadows, her absolute knowledge operated upon by a network of agents in order to secure the desired outcome. They were her fangs, striking with speed and precision against any she deemed undesirable. From the shadows she poisoned the laws of the land, erasing or doctoring evidence to fit her specific narrative and paralyse any who would seek justice against her agents or come too close to discovering the truth. Her rule was absolute yet invisible, powerful yet without force. The city was hers and she was the city, for in her web all things were INTERLINKED.

TASK HORIZON return to EATBRAIN with the four track INTERLINKED EP, furthering their hi-tech drum & bass sound following the release of the Overclocking Reality EP on the label in February of 2018. The titular INTERLINKED leaps almost immediately into overdrive, surging forth from the gate with razor sharp basses and speeding percussion. Featured next is the IMMORTALITY PROTOCOL VIP, a reworking of their previous collaboration with MAGNETUDE that maintains the original’s cinematic atmosphere whilst warping its bassline into a sinister & swarming sonic texture. TASERFACE’s shocking syncopated rhythms impact with unparalleled power through their expression via devastatingly weaponised percussive elements. Closing the EP is TECHNOSH!T, which moves with steady pace as shimmering melodics float atop its motive beat. With INTERLINKED, TASK HORIZON once more display the unique synthesis of skill borne of their four-part collaborative effort, displaying their tech-fuelled sound with continued devotion.

Globally respected drum and bass collective, Black Sun Empire aka Milan Heyboer,
Micha Heyboer and Rene Verdult just released their fifth studio album “From The

Black Sun Empire represents the finest in dark and tech fuelled dance-floor drum &
bass. Since bursting onto the scene back in 2000, they’ve continued to develop their
own unique style and sound, releasing numerous singles as well as four full-length
LPs and establishing themselves as leaders in the field. With their impressive DJ
skills and inspirational productions, Black Sun Empire has reached far beyond their
native Holland. They’ve toured around the world, with highlights including
Glastonbury and numerous other festival appearances, and continue to build on their
growing reputation as some of the most exciting and consistent performers in the
scene.

“From The Shadows” is a 100% Drum and Bass album. This masterpiece is the follow up
to the hugely successful 2010 'Lights And Wires' LP that demonstrated their
versatility across tempos whilst still staying true to their own sound. With “From
The Shadows”, containing twelve original tracks aimed for the dance-floor, BSE
delivers the ultimate Drum and Bass experience. Black Sun Empire's sound is as
unmistakable as it is without compromise; a combination of dark and impressive

French drum & bass DJ, producer and co-owner of Mindtech Recordings.

Based in northern France, Square started his drum & bass journey in Lille, taking part in live events and getting involved in studio collaborations. In 2006, he joined the 'PlanetDnB' web radio show, based in the UK. The following year he joined the 'Hard Bass Dealers' team on radio RCV, with whom he remains to this day. Fast forward a couple more years and he is at the helm of one of the biggest neurofunk labels in the business.

Aside from being a successful label manager and promoter, Square is a talented DJ. His mixes are hard-hitting and precise, with a flow and an impact all of their own. He has been a cornerstone of Hard Bass Dealers parties and radio shows in Lille for years and still finds time to work on his own productions and collaborations and continues to develop his highly successful label, Mindtech Recordings.
