The Rapids are an unsigned rock band, consisting of five hardworking and ambitious guys around the age of 20 from the shores of Portsmouth playing our own brand of high energy, catchy riff fueled rock for all to enjoy.

We've been named 'one to watch for the future', 'a band that could go places' and 'the next big thing' by local promoters and reviewers. Our ferocious live set has been spoken of in such ways: 'The Rapids play like they’re named and are an exciting band to watch live.', 'Well tuned, well timed and tight enough to pierce a bullet proof vest', 'I would bet my right buttock that these guys have been going for a couple of years at least', ' they had our undivided attention'.

2012 is looking to be huge with a spot at Dumbfest and Guilfest already confirmed. We were also the ONLY UK band out of 5,000 worldwide applicants chosen to play Taste of Rock world tour (6 months, 46 dates). We are currently finishing off our debut EP, with release announcements coming soon. We have enjoyed unstoppable growth as an unsigned Portsmouth band and will not stop working to build on it.

Genuine optimism is hard to come by these days, but Jersey Budd is one man that’s determined to put a bit of positivity back into pop. Standing on the shoulders of such giants as Dylan, Springsteen and Cat Stevens, this singer, songwriter and guitarist offers a genuine alternative to the current malaise, blowing away the cobwebs with a lethal combination of talent, charm and pure will.

Aside from his expressive, powerful voice and knack for a good melody, it’s Jersey’s unique take on rock history that makes his music so compelling. On ‘Shotgun Times’ he updates southern rock with contemporary string and horn arrangements, while ‘She Came Back’ shimmers with the 60’s finest harmonies, featuring the same handclaps and ‘Sha-La-Las’ that punctuated The Hollies’ finest moments.

Gifted yet grounded, Jersey Budd is a working class hero in the making, matching Lennon’s looks with The Boss’ penchant for the epic. We’re sure that his voice, songs and most importantly his lust for life, will make welcome a addition to your musical landscape.
