Many people simply want to hear and enjoy some great new music without having to waste time searching for hours. These Musical Discoveries collections aim to fulfil those needs. At least, we hope so! :)

This playlist is a compilation of the favourite musical discoveries of the Wud Records team from everything they heard at SoundCloud during October 2019.

Tracks have been arranged according to the number of plays at the time of publishing, starting with the fewest. Tracks that are early in playlists tend to receive more plays than later tracks, and we feel that the ones with fewer plays need the best chance of exposure.

This playlist is extremely eclectic, so if the track you are playing isn't quite doing it for you, try the next one. It will probably be completely different.

The Attempt (feat. Invisible Movement)

In selecting songs for my cover album one of the challenges was to select one of the nearly 400 songs by The Rolling Stones. When I first heard this song in 1966 I never thought in my wildest dreams that 53 years later I would be recording my own version. Even though sometimes it’s “a drag getting old” I can console myself with the thought that I’m one year younger than Mick Jagger and still Rockin' and singing my heart away.

about the song:

My purchase of a four track player in 1989 was the best purchase I ever made because it opened up a whole new world of music creation potential. I thought the sound quality of my productions back then sounded incredible and it is so interesting to listen back and hear how "bad" they sounded when referenced against "today's" digital environment and which we take so much for granted today. This song was NOT made on a four track player, however, I did try to emulate the sound of degraded tape hiss in certain sections of the song for effect. Looking back, the weaknesses of my early recordings had a tremendous endearing quality to my ears and I attempted to capture that feel and sentiment in my new song "Our Time". The song has both a certain sad/nostalgic feel upfront and then transitions into a happier/uplifting and moving arrangement at the end. Enjoy the song and Thank You.

This EP is a piece of a larger story and concept album, reflecting on the Woodstock Festival of 1969. While I always intended to release this as a full album, there comes a point when music must see the light of day. It was a vision of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh to do a song together after the splitting of the original Wailers.  This dream was shattered when Bob passed.  Peter was quite disappointed and spoke in a few interviews that it is now a dream that will never happen, as Peter also passed 6 years later.  Both men live on through their children.  Rebels in their own right and musical warrior-like figures Ky-mani Marley and Andrew Tosh decided to fulfill this vision for their fathers through their voices.  Harmony is a song calling for unity amongst nations of the world.  A song for love, justice and peace, just like what Bob and Peter fought for through music.  Harmony spells togetherness, a song with depth and truth.
