I had the privilege of visiting some of the Ayutthaya ruins in Thailand this year. wondering through these beautiful sites was a true delight and inspired me to create this song "lost worlds" how many times have society's fallen just to have another built around or even on top of another? I truly believe we've only scratched the surface of humanities history. I'm eager to travel and see more. as well as to see what other discoveries are made during my lifetime. "Atoms", tells the story of the creation of the universe to the fall of civilisation. It deals with the existential questions surrounding mankind’s purpose and place in the world. The lyrics combines original written material, with extracts adapted from religious and mythological texts (The Rigveda, The Bible, Corpus Hermeticum, The Mystery of Amergin), canonical texts such as Inferno by Dante, Phaedo by Plato, and the works of William Blake, William Morris and Ernst Niekisch.

Inspired by Dante’s Inferno, “Psychopath’s Monologue” charts the path of damnation – from purgatory to the depths of hell. The track fleets between the harsh and the heavenly, the brutal and the beautiful - Grinding metal guitar and baselines layered over pounding industrial techno kicks encases the theatrical spoken-lyrics delivered as an elegiac monologue. 

The composition is an assemblage of 7 sonnet poems written over a 10 year period. The work assimilates ancient imagery with the contemporary. While the meaning of the lyrics is often abstracted and cryptic, its delivery is always awash with emotion.

Deus Ex Machina is an arresting sonic and theatrical experience of man’s perennial struggle between fate and free will. Charged with both pathos and ethos, the song is a musical revisitation of classical literature’s greatest tragedy – the story of Oedipus Rex.

"Deus Ex Machina" tells the story of King Oedipus of Thebes, who despite all his efforts, ends up fulfilling the prophecy he was trying so hard to avoid: that he would kill his father and marry his mother.

Inspired by the sonnets of Shakespeare and the lyrical poetry of Ancient Greece, the lyrics tells the story of Oedipus Rex – a play by Sophocles written over two thousand years ago. The song is chanted and recited over the music much like in the chorus in Greek tragedy.

Released worldwide on September 18, 2020, "DEUS EX MACHINA" is the third single of The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara. The track forms part of the independently produced album ‘Full Spectrum'.

Mata Hari (meaning "sun" in Malay) reimagines the sound of the 80s in the year 2080. The song is told through the eyes of an artist, who creates a painting as a declaration of love and as a testament to the intensity of emotions and feelings (for another) when words and actions were inadequate.

‘Love in the Time of Pestilence’ is an experimental metal track that reflects upon the events of the ongoing pandemic and global crisis. Composed and recorded during the outbreak of the first wave of Covid-19 in Europe, the amplitude waveform view of this track, with its peaks and troughs, is in itself a visualisation of the evolution and progression of the pandemic over the course of the year 2020.

The spoken lyrics combine original writings with historical quotes in order to remind humanity that if we don’t learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it. The artists chose to release this track as Europe goes into a second Lockdown. It is an appeal to humanity and an emergency broadcast to mankind at a critical moment in the current crisis.

The accompanying music video is a tribute and homage to all the healthcare professionals around the world who have risked their own lives to save the lives of others. The video documents mankind’s experience of plagues and pandemics over the millennia. This is presented through a corpus of art historical works, archival photographs, and film footage. Origins, the third album by The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara, is out now.

The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara (TCOMAS), a UK-based duo featuring Daphne Ang (Singapore) and Andrea Papi (Italy), emerged in London in early 2020. Their debut album, Full Spectrum, established their innovative fusion of poetry performance and heavy music, creating a unique form of expression that has become synonymous with TCOMAS.
TCOMAS's sophomore album, Trust No Leaders, released on July 1, 2022, explores the history of metal, paying tribute to various subgenres. Set against orchestral and cinematic landscapes, the songs also incorporate non-Western musical influences. The lyrics draw inspiration from contemporary and classical poetry, as well as Jungian psychology.
