Losing Suki returns with a solid triplet of tracks from rising talent, Troy Gunner.  The young Bristol upstart has previously released on respected labels such as Brownswood and Mindset, and is a welcome addition to the Losing Suki ranks.  Troy brings his trademark sound of deep, atmospheric dance music to the ‘Red Wine Lips’ EP. 

EP opener, ‘Playin’, sets the tone with a driving and textured slab of deep house par excellence.  Heady, swirling pads and effected vocals wrap around the rattling cymbals and steady drums in a simple, yet highly effective cut.

‘Red Wine Lips’ is as seductive as the track title suggests.  The simple melodies and distant vox give a melancholic air, as Troy teases the musical elements in and out to produce another smooth house track, all shimmering keys and sturdy 909 drum work.   

The garage influence is best served on closing track, ‘Lay’.  A thumping kick and swinging drum pattern keeps the listener locked in for a heads down and spacious ride.  Utilizing similar elements of filtered pads, vocal cuts and brooding stabs, Troy creates an excellent sound palette that rest upon its rock solid beats for another winner on this EP.
