Erb N Dub was last seen on Technique as part of the musical superhero team-up that goes by the name of Hashtag. Since then, he's been busy adding brand new chapters to his story. From his live project, Wicked City, through his four deck sets combining D&B with scratches and live drums, to his mammoth undertaking of developing his own dance music studio complex, it's clear he's a musician with ambition.

And that ambition is perfectly summed up by the motto “Let Me Fly”, this EP's title track. Skope shares production duties and smoking vocals are laced by Damien Soul. As Damien's blue-sky voice soars over reinforced-concrete beats and gritty mids and basses, this brings alive the sound of summer in the city. With both a full-fat Club Mix, and a Radio Mix to choose from, this is an anthem that proves D&B can go hard even when the sun's out.

Talking of going hard, next we step into “Moshpit”. Airy pads and chimes are quickly annihilated by uncompromising serrated-blade evolving synth strikes, building to a steel-toed dropkick as the beats and bass hit. This is grimey dancefloor material, for when its time to pull the ravers' backs off the wall.

“Parallax” offers a new perspective. Classic-sounding arpeggiated figures dance and intersect, leading to a drop in which pared-back percussion makes way for a head-nodding pizzicato-flavoured bassline. This is catchy, bouncy music with a pedigree that stretches back to eighties electro.

Finally, Erb N Dub gives us “Paper Chasing”. This one will have a nostalgic feel for those heads who remember raving to dark techiness in the late nineties and early noughties. Classic tropes are reignited for 2014 in an almost beatless eulogy to that style. This is a no-apology, lighters in the air piece for those that know.

With this EP, Erb N Dub has proven once more, as if it needed proving, that he's a consummate musician rather than simply an assembly-line beatmaker. Every track expertly delivers its own mood and atmosphere, each one different and each one powerful. So, it's time to join the Erb N Dub journey and see where his ambition can take us now.

Yes, it really has been fifteen years since Future Tech (aka Drumsound & Bassline Smith) signalled the beginning of the Technique Recordings odyssey with their eponymous debut collaboration. Since then, the drum and bass sound has spread its tendrils from the dark corners of the underground into the limelight of mainstream appreciation. And Technique has been at the forefront of that evolution all the way. So, here's an LP to show the world exactly what a decade and a half among the top tier of D&B labels sounds like.

Label heads Drumsound & Bassline Smith take pole position, dropping straight into the drama of the Friction-supported “Spring Heel Jack”. Then comes another of Technique's most recognisable acts, Tantrum Desire with the low-down funk of “Shuffle”, followed by another Friction-favourite from the bossmen with “Sputnik”. The big names keep coming throughout the album, as Crissy Criss supplies the VIP of his monumental “Create the Future” and the mighty Digital goes dubbed-out with a remix of “Phantasm”. Plus Drumsound & Bassline Smith's alter-ego 2DB pass through with the highly-grimey “Terrahawk” and L Plus delivers two precision-engineered killers in the form of “Red Planet” and “Going Down”.

Flipping the script, Technique new boys Document One strike from two angles with the laid-back “Jazz Club” and the dirty dancefloor uppercut of “Body Like Wow”. TREi takes us to the big room with “Here & Now”, and the ever-individual MaxNRG shows off his ability to combine energy with melody on “Far Frontiers of Space”. Erb N Dub and Skope recruit Mr Dirty Smirks, MC SMK himself, to bring some typically hard bars to “Pull it Back”. Kronology does what it says on the tin with some “Razor Sharp” technoid-jungle vibes. And Aussie badman Spectrem brings some hands-in-the-air euphoria with “Say Goodbye” and then roughen things up with “The Future”. Infrasonik take the honour of completing the collection with “Bricks Breaking”. Legion & Logam, a trio who've cemented themselves as an international crossover act whilst pedestalling US drum & bass within the Ram roster. After the breakaway success of their first single on the Program imprint, 'House of Cards', as well as a host of fresh cuts of the Ram Records compilation series, they're returning with a single to cement themselves yet again within the genre's fabric. Having become a staple of festival stages globally, it's no surprise they've piqued such interest across the scene.

'To Be Alone' features Micah Freeman on vocals, making another appearance since 'Holding On' and adding his signature twist between carefully constructed layers of noise. Freeman's voice stretches to its furthest heights, dropping down musical crescendos and over kicking drum patterns. Snapping percussion washes over each train of sound with distorted guitar underpinning each segment. Piano notes filter through the mix, creating an emotional composition that pedestals the style Legion & Logam reign over.

Once again, it's time to get with the Program… One that celebrates diversity whilst distributing acts like Legion & Logam onto an unsuspecting audience since its inception.

Since signing exclusively with Viper Recordings in April, Austria’s Dossa & Locuzzed have been enjoying some serious recognition as one of the industry’s hottest new drum and bass duos. With their debut single ‘Only Way / Electric Boogie’ released back in May on Viper’s sister label Viper VIP to tumultuous praise, the talented producers have been hitting the scene hard in 2016. Featuring on Viper’s ‘Bassrush 1.0’ album with ‘Ninja’, as well as the annual ‘Drum & Bass Summer Slammers 2016’ compilation with ‘Banana Split’, Dossa & Locuzzed have been gaining support from some of the biggest names in the industry along with fresh new remixes of NC-17’s ‘Soldiers’ and Deuce & Charger’s ‘Who Can You Trust?’. ‘Dance’ sets the scene with an airy and atmospheric intro before spiralling headfirst in to a catchy beat packed full of funky synths, gritty stabs and plenty of old-school raver vibe. Adding some vocal samples and plenty of drums in to the mix, the duo has created the perfect recipe for a seriously eclectic track which is a sure-fire classic in the making.

Next up, ‘Shag’ jumps straight in with a mix of swirling synths and bouncy drums, kicking things off with a no-nonsense drop that means business. Featuring an up-tempo beat with aggressive stabs and riffs not unlike those you’d hear tearing up a jump-up dance, this first tune from the single packs a punch you’re not likely to forget.

Hospital Records’ São Paulo discovery Urbandawn is a serious contender. After releasing two popular EPs with the label and spending several months determined in the studio his debut album ‘Gothenburg Cluster’ is ready.
