It hasn't been long since Document One carved their name into the pantheon of drum and bass heavy-hitters with their debut EP on Technique. Already, tracks from “Revolution” have been chalking up serious airtime and rave-play and ensuring that this production team's new release bears the weight of intense anticipation. So what have they got for us this time?

“Faced With the Unknown” takes us straight into darkness. Background atmospherics create a bed for regally cinematic arpeggios and some apocalyptic narration. This fades into distant reverberation only to reassemble as a cybernetic paranoic beat and bassline. This drop adds an extra layer of close-up claustrophobia which gives every drum hit, bass squelch and triggered sample the space and weight to really strike hard. This is four-in-the-morning music for for when daylight is just a memory and it's time to cast a shadow over the rave.

“Purp” is something different. The intro is fully-formed UK hip-hop, socially-conscious bars from Fio and all. But before we have time to strap on our backpacks, there's just a hint of double-time percussion on the horizon, and we're launched into a filthy drop, with grinding mid-range basses and an insistent resonant snare that turns the heat up to eleven. The juxtaposition of funky hip-hop and grimy D&B give this track an irresistible Bristol Sound vibe, showing Document One's respect for the roots while maintaining a totally modern dancefloor sensibility.

It's only Document One's second release on Technique but with their already-prestigious discography and the acclaim for their “Revolution” EP, it's clear this release is going to get serious attention. Showcasing both darkness and light with their trademark musicality, these two tracks are bound for set lists everywhere.

Essex boys Jack Pike and Jake Hicks have been making music together since they were teenagers. Meeting in secondary school they realised their shared love of Drum & Bass and set to work. Their output on Program and Viper in previous years has seen them garner support from big names in the scene and we are happy to have them on Soulvent releasing a continual stream of bangers. ‘Say No More’ follows up previous 2025 singles ‘Jynx‘ and ‘Restless’ and brings forth even more techy goodness.
 
‘Say No More’ kicks off with a bubbling, tumbling synth pattern which is quickly backed by driving percussion and sensual female vocals, building the tension as the soundscape grows. The drop brings in a veritable arsenal of bassweight, with wobbles, big sweeping sub hits and percussive grunts galore, keeping the energy undeniably high throughout the duration of the tune.

Kicking things off, YASUKI & mimiiQ team up for “Chase The Light”, a futuristic record with a funky and pulsing beat that is sure to blow heads clean off.

Next up, DJYOUTH brings a slightly lighter sound to the mix with infectious vocal chops amidst a vibrant soundscape before dropping into pure jump-up infused carnage – “Without You” is as catchy as it is bass face worthy.

Keeping the energy high, Mountain’s “Warn You” is equal parts ominous and enchanting, with a sinister build-up leading to an even more sinister drop. A dancefloor destroyer in every sense, the bar is set incredibly high.

DJ AKi teams up with Yellock on the massive “Destruction & Rebirth”, with mesmerizing vocals drawing the listener in before exploding into a fast-paced, hi-octane drop that will decimate any dancefloor.

Maozon’s “Escape” follows, another dancefloor destroyer made to be played at full blast on the best underground sound systems the world over. The euphoria of classic dancefloor DnB meets a much darker side for another seriously heavyweight tune.

Azumai’s “Guilty Of Murder” then presents a haunting opening, slowly building up in suspense and atmosphere before delivering a sinister sci-fi-esque drop that chills to the core.

Closing out the EP, Seventhrun’s aptly named “Bouncy” delivers blazing, bold energy – a final taste of Japan’s formidable club scene and the perfect end to this hard-hitting release.

With 7 tracks all delivering absolute carnage, 'Land of the Rising Bass EP' is certainly not for the faint of heart. Viper are proud to represent the sounds of our DnB brothers and sisters in Japan and to celebrate the talent of the Viper family the world over!
