Yes, it really has been fifteen years since Future Tech (aka Drumsound & Bassline Smith) signalled the beginning of the Technique Recordings odyssey with their eponymous debut collaboration. Since then, the drum and bass sound has spread its tendrils from the dark corners of the underground into the limelight of mainstream appreciation. And Technique has been at the forefront of that evolution all the way. So, here's an LP to show the world exactly what a decade and a half among the top tier of D&B labels sounds like.

Label heads Drumsound & Bassline Smith take pole position, dropping straight into the drama of the Friction-supported “Spring Heel Jack”. Then comes another of Technique's most recognisable acts, Tantrum Desire with the low-down funk of “Shuffle”, followed by another Friction-favourite from the bossmen with “Sputnik”. The big names keep coming throughout the album, as Crissy Criss supplies the VIP of his monumental “Create the Future” and the mighty Digital goes dubbed-out with a remix of “Phantasm”. Plus Drumsound & Bassline Smith's alter-ego 2DB pass through with the highly-grimey “Terrahawk” and L Plus delivers two precision-engineered killers in the form of “Red Planet” and “Going Down”.

Flipping the script, Technique new boys Document One strike from two angles with the laid-back “Jazz Club” and the dirty dancefloor uppercut of “Body Like Wow”. TREi takes us to the big room with “Here & Now”, and the ever-individual MaxNRG shows off his ability to combine energy with melody on “Far Frontiers of Space”. Erb N Dub and Skope recruit Mr Dirty Smirks, MC SMK himself, to bring some typically hard bars to “Pull it Back”. Kronology does what it says on the tin with some “Razor Sharp” technoid-jungle vibes. And Aussie badman Spectrem brings some hands-in-the-air euphoria with “Say Goodbye” and then roughen things up with “The Future”. Infrasonik take the honour of completing the collection with “Bricks Breaking”. And finally, Drumsound & Bassline Smith step back up for a lap of honour with a mix of all the tracks from the LP.PreOrder "15 Years Of Technique" Album

From the veteran headliners to the breakthrough talent, from the filthy rave-wreckers to the stadium-sized anthems, this album demonstrates the versatility and innovation that has kept Technique Recordings' status for all this time. Fresh from his EP on the legendary Ram Records 'Smooth' takes us to the future of jungle with 'Can't Stop'..The atmospheric keys of the intro setting you up for a killer bassline straight out of his lair. Next up is 'Wreck It Down' which has been smashing dancefloors apart since the start of 2018 - This definitely wrecks the joint.

Desmond McMahon returns for the second time to a record label who have firmly solidified themselves within both the US and European drum & bass market, having already bridged the gap across the Atlantic. His next EP on Santoku is an expert follow on from the release which provided a pedestal for the young producer, one who’s paved his way through the scene’s biggest stages in the US, the type which tastemakers look to when they consider the underground success of dance music’s pivotal sub genre. The finely-honed sounds of Des have often brought out the freshest turns in DJ sets and mixing styles, providing an intricate look into the younger members of drum & bass and the talent which they’re currently bringing through the ranks.

The four-track package from Des is a look into the versatility of the upcoming producer - from ‘No Need to Speak’ through to ‘Ghost’, he grapples with his heavy layering and carefully laid out musicality in a way that demonstrates just how illustrious he is as an artist. This time he’s taken a more dance floor approach, opposed to the cut throat style of his ‘Delirium’ EP, whilst still pushing his signature throughout every meticulous segment he builds, one on top of the next.

‘No Need to Speak’ draws you straight into the fray with drums which administer swift punches and a bassline that crackles throughout the mix. Next up ‘Bad Habits’ is just as dynamic, creating a driving rhythm which is punctuated by the records swift hooks that jump out from you between the composition. Following on is ‘Bulletproof’ which nods to its namesake and it’s impenetrable in its make up. And finally you’re brought into the wavering movements of ‘Ghost’, the perfect end to his ‘No need to Speak’ EP and giving a final snapshot into his diversity as a producer.

Santoku highlight how they have an eye for picking up blossoming newcomers - and Des is leading the charge. Although a go-to from the beginning, Santoku are making themselves widely felt without the need to submit to a more commercial appeal.

No strangers to the bass game, the Anglo-Dutch dynamos have already amassed a major fanbase thanks to their uncompromising production skills and penchant for dark, gritty grooves on  well respected labels such as Horizons, Critical and Nu Directions. ‘From Autumn To Ashes’ is truly unique. A word that’s far too overused in dance music, this really is one of a kind; and you’ll understand that the moment those crisp guitar plucks bid you a cold welcome. Spooky sonics a go-go; it’s the moment in a B-movie horror where the cute college girls split up in the woods to find their way home. It’s a white knuckle ride on a rickety ghost train. Naturally ‘Change’ acts as the perfect foil. Dutch singer Sofie Letitre’s vocals stop you dead in your tracks; surging, urging and distinctive. June Miller have brought the very best out in her as they ruthlessly lay the sub-frequency smack down beneath. Searing and tearing, the bass cuts through the mix like with razor-like charm while the weighty kicks double up at will, tripling on the fills for added drama.
