We have been repping at ADE for many years. On October 17th the label will be taking over Paradiso for a supreme showcase of forward-thinking beats and bass. Following the sold out fifth birthday in December, MTA Records return to Oval Space on Friday 19th June with a line up of landmark special guests celebrating the musical spectrum flaring out of the capital right now. Chase & Status’ very own record label continues to pioneer underground sounds from d&b to house, grime to electro, and MTA HOME will showcase some of the best from the MTA camp & beyond as the label continues to encompass the UK’s finest homegrown genres.

In classic MTA style we’ll be keeping things exciting with 2 huge secret names to be revealed who've contributed massively to electronic dance music in recent times. You won’t know until the night but be warned - Oval Space is set to go off.

Alongside secret guests - the legendary ZINC is joining us at MTA HOME. Zinc’s remained timeless in serving British dance music with tracks spanning jungle, drum & bass, house, hip hop and more. Plus! We are hugely honoured to invite one grime’s most exciting acts to emerge in recent years - BIG NARSTIE - to showcase his inimitable flair. Over recent years the label’s worked with grime champions including Tempa T, Dizzee Rascal, Kano, Stormzy and Tinie Tempah, and are extremely proud to announce Narstie as a special guest for the summer affair.

Stepping up next is one of the hottest drum & bass acts of 2015, DIMENSION. The tastemaker support surrounding this fresh & rising talent from Annie Mac & Friction to Zane Lowe & Annie Nightingale, has seen the success of his Whip Slap track smash the Radio 1 Dance and Beatport charts with more ammunition in the pipeline like new track Pull Me Under and a Duke Dumont remix. Dimension will be bringing his unmistakable energy to Oval Space and we can’t wait.

Also joining us are highly talented trio IVY LAB whose melodic and experimental d&b offers a tasty angle to the night’s proceedings. Sabre, Stray & Halogenix earned their stripes as individual artists in the underground circuit before joining forces to create a divine power in the form of electronic outfit, Ivy Lab. Expect smooth & impressive sounds from these inimitable talents who’ve notched up stunning releases on Critical, Brownswood and a remix last year for Subfocus.

New MTA signing NYKO is a 20 year-old producer hailing from Oxford who’s been creating raw bass-driven house inspired by the likes of Daft Punk and Hot Since 82 since the tender age of 13. Big things are in store for Nyko and we’re proud to present this new & exciting talent. Fresh off the press having remixed Matrix & Futurebound and TCTS in recent times is London up & comer KONCEPT who’ll bring the fire with his distinctive and infectious drum & bass.

We've barely recovered from the sun-scorched assault of Technique's Summer 2016 album, and yet, already, there's more Drumsound & Bassline Smith material for us to get our ears around. Proving they've got too much fire for one label to contain, their recent excursions on Playaz and Function Records have been setting raves alight, and now they're back on their home turf. So, what have the Technique bosses cooked up for us this time?

First on the menu is “I'm Gone”. And this one isn't just a Tune with a capital T, it's also a Song with a capital S. Bully hasn't just provided a singalong hook, but a fully structured lyric which drives the track just as much as the relentless bassline. From the lighters-up intro through to the soar of the build to the solar-plexus strike of the drop, this is going to deliver everywhere from festival main stages to early-hours after-parties. No watering-down, no gentle chaser, just a neat shot of pure vocal drum and bass.

And then it's time to handle “The Truth”. The original hit hard when it dropped at the end of last year, but now Drumsound & Bassline Smith have unleashed the VIP and things have got even more serious. First of all, the intro has an extra level of cinematic sci-fi epicness, which perfectly sets us up for the additional brutality of the drop. The militantly staccato bass of the original is given a re-lick with more unpredictable twists and turns. This is one for selectors to pull out to ensure they keep the rave in the palm of their hand.

To put it simply, here are two dancefloor-wrecking heavyweight pieces from the ever-prolific DBS team. To put it even simpler, it's Drumsound & Bassline Smith, so what did you expect?

 MaxNRG has repeatedly proven that he's perfectly prepared to twist up a sub-genre or two in his quest for dancefloor mastery. We've seen him experiment with multiple shades of the drum and bass palette and funnel all of them through his highly individual approach to musicality. The only constant is the presence of rock-hard drums and lethal bass. Even in his craziest excursions, it's all about the rave. 

In “Kill the Snake”, Max casts his mad scientist's eye onto a blending of styles. There's that high-energy big-room vibe somehow entwined with a more claustrophobic technoid, neuro flavour. This counterpoint is established right from the intro, as low, menacing strings are offset by a modulating ravey synth in the high end. These sounds lay the foundation for a documentary dialogue sample that gives the track it's title. Then clean pizzicato strikes mesh with an alarm-call riser to take this sound-melding tune to the drop. 

The bass and beats are, as you'd expect from MaxNRG, clinically merciless. Ear-poppingly pressurised drums ride along a driving undercurrent of grittiness in the bass. The mids and highs fulfil that smooth-and-serrated combination that was laid out in the intro and take us effortlessly through building layers of drama. The energy just doesn't quit. 

It's clear by now that MaxNRG is a big fan of taking established ideas and reconfiguring them almost beyond recognition. Whether it's from instinct or meticulous study, his understanding of the form shines through, without ever distracting from the drum and bass heartbeat at the core of his music. This is intelligent rave music that hits hard.

After our anticipation was pushed to breaking point, it's finally here. Pieces of this album have been circulating for a while now, chalking up support from the likes of Radio 1's Friction, DC Breaks, Tantrum Desire, Crissy Criss, Drumsound & Bassline Smith and a whole host of other heavy hitters. And you wouldn't really expect anything less, given this artist's pedigree. He's been in the game since the late nineties, chalking up some hugely successful releases on some of the biggest labels in drum'n'bass. As a DJ, he's a regular fixture at huge shows in his native Slovakia and beyond. And, since signing exclusively to Technique in 2011, his position as one of the scene's top tier producers, able to flex engineering skill and musicianship in equal measure. So strap in. It's L Plus's debut LP and it's a monster.

The title track, “Hideout”, lays out the blueprint. Never quite predictable, the tune takes us on a quirky journey through unexpected chord patterns and structural experimentation, and that's just in the intro. Make no mistake, though, L Plus hasn't compromised on sheer rave-hyping ability either, the huge build-up is definitely warranted by the weight and power of the drop. And that trend continues. You'll probably already be familiar with cuts like “Creature Must Die” and “Avenger”, which strike that perfect balance between individuality and dancefloor energy.

And that's just the start of what the album has to offer. Take the warm nostalgia of “Battleground” for example. There's real depth of emotion in the classic-synth melodies, delivered in a way you won't have heard before. Then there's “Make You Feel”, a twisted and techy journey through rhythm programming, and the half-speed madness of “Get Ugly”. The one constant feature is that all of these tunes, however expressive or resistant to pigeon-holing, are built to make ravers move.

Of course, this wouldn't be a Technique Recordings album without some heavyweight collaborations. The mighty John B passes through on “Original 80's”, to push some synth-pop and electro flavours to the limit. Muffler joins in on the uncategorisable orchestra-meets-filth of “Cinematic”. Drumsound & Bassline Smith add their spin to the melody and griminess collision of “Jetpack”. Plus the rock-solid mic man Coppa graces “Lock to the Greatest” with his presence to add a whole new facet to the sound.

You'd better believe this just scratches the surface. We all know L Plus's productions have layers to uncover, so this album is going to bear repeated listening as well as heavy rotation in raves and across airwaves. When that's true of every single track on an LP, you know we've got something special on our hands. The anticipation was justified. Check it.
