Yes, it really has been fifteen years since Future Tech (aka Drumsound & Bassline Smith) signalled the beginning of the Technique Recordings odyssey with their eponymous debut collaboration. Since then, the drum and bass sound has spread its tendrils from the dark corners of the underground into the limelight of mainstream appreciation. And Technique has been at the forefront of that evolution all the way. So, here's an LP to show the world exactly what a decade and a half among the top tier of D&B labels sounds like.

Label heads Drumsound & Bassline Smith take pole position, dropping straight into the drama of the Friction-supported “Spring Heel Jack”. Then comes another of Technique's most recognisable acts, Tantrum Desire with the low-down funk of “Shuffle”, followed by another Friction-favourite from the bossmen with “Sputnik”. The big names keep coming throughout the album, as Crissy Criss supplies the VIP of his monumental “Create the Future” and the mighty Digital goes dubbed-out with a remix of “Phantasm”. Plus Drumsound & Bassline Smith's alter-ego 2DB pass through with the highly-grimey “Terrahawk” and L Plus delivers two precision-engineered killers in the form of “Red Planet” and “Going Down”.

Flipping the script, Technique new boys Document One strike from two angles with the laid-back “Jazz Club” and the dirty dancefloor uppercut of “Body Like Wow”. TREi takes us to the big room with “Here & Now”, and the ever-individual MaxNRG shows off his ability to combine energy with melody on “Far Frontiers of Space”. Erb N Dub and Skope recruit Mr Dirty Smirks, MC SMK himself, to bring some typically hard bars to “Pull it Back”. Kronology does what it says on the tin with some “Razor Sharp” technoid-jungle vibes. And Aussie badman Spectrem brings some hands-in-the-air euphoria with “Say Goodbye” and then roughen things up with “The Future”. Infrasonik take the honour of completing the collection with “Bricks Breaking”. And finally, Drumsound & Bassline Smith step back up for a lap of honour with a mix of all the tracks from the LP.PreOrder "15 Years Of Technique" Album

Signing exclusively to the label in 2014 and dropping his debut single ‘Feelings / Something, Something’ on sister label Viper VIP to huge success, the talented young producer has already gained momentous support from the likes of TC, Cyantific, Sub Focus, Matrix & Futurebound, Crissy Criss, Danny Byrd, Metrik, Netsky and many more.

Over the last two years, BMotion has become a respected name in the industry and has consistently brought the heat with releases such as the Beatport chart topping ‘Bear Hug / Vice City’ and ‘Arabia / Ignition’ in 2015. Alongside compilation features including ‘Discotheque’ with Chords on Decade of Viper and the huge ‘Tekken’ on Viper Presents: Summer Slammers 2016, BMotion has also proved his remixing skills with his spin on Brookes Brothers feat. Majesty’s ‘Good To Me’ – which featured on Viper Presents: Bassrush 1.0 alongside the well-received ‘Ignition’.

Eutopia kicks off BMotion’s new single with a distinctly retro, jazz-fueled intro. Twisting and turning through a range of distorted synths and progressive drums, the track quickly picks up pace before catapulting into a hard-hitting drop packed with fierce stabs and snares. Splicing together an explosive mix of funky retro and a heavy, rolling bassline, the producer impresses from the get-go with this turbo charged opening tune.

On the flip side, Release Valve opens up on a more chilled vibe. Starting off by incorporating an electric guitar into an echoing build-up, the track is then instantly transformed as a powerful, gritty bassline takes over the moment the drop hits. Bringing some next-level energy and aiming straight for the center of the dancefloor, this killer tune packs some serious ferocity.

Showcasing yet more faultless production and bringing to the table undoubtedly two of the biggest Drum and Bass tracks to hit dancefloors this autumn, BMotion is wasting no time in setting himself apart from the competition.

The levels that underground labels like Kosen Productions continue to push have ensured the imprint has stayed on the agenda’s forefront. And this remains the same ethos for their next release, returning to the heavily skilled, crashing sounds of Maniatics, three producers who made their name on Kosen and who now help to spearhead its discography. The Sevilla based outfit, having also released on the likes of Titan Records, Eatbrain and Viper, deliver two brand new records which signify why they’re such an imperative part of Kosen. And having started its path in 2011, the French label has thrived within drum & basses independent market, pushing forward both burgeoning newcomers and more heavyweight figures. Whether it’s Signs, The Clamps, Nickbee or Maniatics themselves, Kosen has offered up some of the artists’ most resounding cuts. 

‘I’m Gonna Kill You’ and ‘Enough On My Conscience’ are no different, two undeniably huge records which go to show why Kosen were so hotly tipped after discovering the trio from relative obscurity. The single’s A-side ‘I’m Gonna Kill You’ begins as you’d expect from a Maniatics track. It’s cutting, whilst each slab of unforgiving drum patterns hit harder and harder as they loop between its flying percussion. There’s a hook which grapples with you between every slamming breakdown and this is why you’ll be hearing it across clubs throughout the next few months. The outfit know how to make an impact and this is clear to see through the ruthless dancefloor appeal of ‘I’m Gonna Kill You’. 

Then on the reverse, ‘Enough On My Conscience’ is just as destructive, slicing through with punching stabs of bass and hollowed up drum throws, with each slamming just as hard as the last. You become entangled in the destructive throws of Maniatics, alongside each one of their carefully fashioned layers of engineering, as despite how explosive their style is they’re still meticulous in their creation. Bringing together two huge tracks, Maniatics aren’t hitting the brakes on their career anytime soon. They’re making their way to the top, with Kosen presenting another rung on the ladder and a home for their tearaway pieces of art.
