AMAZING EP – L PLUS

Hailing from Bratislava in Slovakia, D&B producer L Plus has already  
forged an enviable career as a DJ and producer. Since signing  
exclusively to Technique Recordings in 2011, he’s been honing his  
unique sound, with releases like his “Time Travel” EP, “Catastrophe”,  
and remixes for scene luminaries like Crissy Criss and Tantrum Desire.
 
This style is evident in this release. The title track sets out L  
Plus’s blueprint straight away, with sweeping atmospherics cut with  
strong vocal hooks. The bass hits hard, but it’s the melody that  
drives the tune, evoking the early days of rave while maintaining  
precision-tooled production quality.
 
Next, “Taking Me Higher” moves even further into old skool euphoria.  
The beautiful vocal and filtered strings of the intro, swooping into a  
instant-classic riff, offer a perfect lighters-in-the-air moment.  
After an epic drop, L Plus twists things up with another of his  
trademarks, a half-speed breakdown allowing the harmonies he’s created  
to shine through.
 
As the name suggests, “Challenger” goes harder. L Plus is a master of  
atmosphere, and here he shows off this skill to build tension. His  
high-end patterns blend and contort until the drop, when he throws  
down a complex array of synth-work to send ravers crazy.
 
The last track, “Close To You”, takes us back in time again.  
Mid-nineties spacey sounds are held together with the eponymous vocal  
sample. Percussive stabs and building drums introduce the low-end  
which sparks the track into life, which L Plus balances with his  
customary melodic work.
 
This EP shows exactly what L Plus can do. He’s a true music producer,  
not a “beat-maker”, able to manipulate melodies and vocals as easily  
as he can twist up a bassline. Add this to his calling-card soaring  
atmospherics and it’s clear that these tracks are equally capable of  
blowing up dances and airwaves.

Hailing from Stourbridge, near Birmingham, Tim Smith and Ashley Lamb are starting to have quite an impact in the world of drum and bass. Relatively unknown to many so far, Raw Theory will undoubtably become a name recognised by Drum and Bass followers in the very near future.

Sharing a close taste in music the duo have been inspired and influenced by the likes of drum and bass artists such as Sub Focus, Camo & Krooked, Original Sin, Matrix & Futurebound, Tantrum Desire and DJ Fresh, just to name a few. While also pulling in many influences from outside the walls of DnB from Oasis, The Prodigy, Wu- Tang, Dr. Dre, The Verve, and the Blood Brothers.

After three years of dedication in their home studio, Raw Theory's tracks made their way into the hands of Viper Recordings head honcho, Futurebound. Instantly hearing massive potential in the music he was presented with, Futurebound secured the banging 'Headrush' and 'Solarise' for last year's 'Summer Slammers' album. 

Now exclusively signed to Viper Recordings, Raw Theory drop their first single on Viper VIP with two bangers squarely locked on the dancefloor.

Annie Mac labelled it a ‘summer smash’ whilst Radio 1’s presenter Dev named it his ‘Big Thing’ (Record of The Week), before it finally charted in the UK Top 40. Rewind to the beginning of the year where the trio won two accolades (Best Track & Best Video) at the Drum & Bass Awards 2012, whilst also scoring another UK Top 40 hit along with Utah Saints on ‘What Can You Do For Me’.

Hadouken! stormed back this year signing with Ministry of Sound showcasing their new musical direction with bass-laced single ‘Bad Signal’ released earlier this summer before hooking up with the dnb trio on ‘Daylight’.  

Premiering on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show ‘Daylight’ combines a classic Hadouken! alt rock tempo, with aggressive guitar riffs and Drumsound & Bassline Smith’s hard hitting basslines. Recent signing Metrik crashes onto the Hospital release schedule with this immense self-titled EP. Hot on the heels of his Essential Mix for BBC Radio One, Metrik has forged a reputation for producing top-notch peak time tunes with catchy hooks and uplifting vibes a-plenty.

Kicking off with "Break Of Dawn", Metrik takes no prisoners as the tune drops with vocals from Dynamite MC into a cacophony of souped up synth work with plenty of fun factor.
