“Navigating the asteroid belt is not without its perils. Dust particles penetrated some of the external equipment leading to routine maintenance. The spacewalk (or EVA) repairs were completed without issue, but on attempting to access the airlock, the external door jammed. Oxygen is running out, and the risk of depressurizing suits imminent.”

Airlock is the third track in the Space album, which depicts a journey from earth, through our solar system, its elements, out of our galaxy and on to the next, with a few dramatic events and encounters along the way. The soundscape features various driving kicks and beats to mimic hurtling through space at speed, combined with cold, hard, dark, metallic percussion and synths that conjure up the harshness of the environment, and re-imagine tales of sci-fi lore.

The guest mix in the second hour is by DJ Mikee from Wetteren in Belgium. He began DJ-ing in the 1990’s, playing trance, and then left the scene due to family commitments. In 2015 he returned and influenced by Sven Väth, Carl Cox and Pan Pot he became interested in melodic and peak time, driving techno. He has two monthly shows on Fnoob Techno Radio, “This is Techno” and “TeCHNooLiFe!”

Epic synths are layered over a foundation of kick and rolling bass, tying the drums together through the rim. My aim was to create a groove that’s simple to listen to, allowing the focus to shift more toward the progression of the main sound element, a build-up of energy that unfolds over time.

If I had to associate this EP with an experience, I’d imagine it as a plane ride: during takeoff, you feel the force pinning you to your seat until the moment the plane lifts off and begins to climb… Up in the air, you feel light, weightless, until the descent begins. Here comes the drop: the wheels touch the runway.

CF Premiere: Stijn Vanmarsenille - Breeze Unfolded [Diffuse Reality Records]

I’m Mike, born in Belgium in 1974.
I started my musical career at the age of 10 with vocals and piano lessons. Later I moved on to drums and keyboards.
In the 80s I began playing with cassettes and a tape recorder, under the influence of Newbeat and Acid. Early 90s I bought my first Pioneers and professional turntables. Trance became my speciality, soon followed by Underground and UK Trance. I played about anything but the commercial tracks. This gave me the opportunity to prove myself in several local afterclubs.
After this period I got settled and started a family.
But as you all know… you can’t lose the music microbe. In 2015 I decided to start playing again. Techno was my favourite style and the results were quiet well. I prefer Melodic Techno and Techno with “a great drive”. Meanwhile my “This is Techno” series are regularly played on Techno Live Sets.
Currently I’m rather active on the internet, but I hope for more. Just like my idols, Sven Väth, Carl Cox and Pan Pot I would like to do my thing on festivals and in clubs. It would be great to entertain people and to share the style I like so much.
I’m very proud to announce that I’m one of the 300 resident DJs of Fnoobtechno.com. I hope this gives me some more publicity and opportunities within the techno scene.
Recently I also discovered producing. It’s still in an early stage, but I’m eager for more.
