The 5th installment in Duncan Forbes' @49north-recordings EP series, sees 3 of his recently released originals - take on tantalising new forms.

Up first is D's very own spin on his ambient, analogue stunner - 'Continental Drift'; which, via his 'Ode To All The Cosmic Disco Pixies' - re-emerges in a far more club-oriented plain, whilst still retaining that signature, wide-eyed charm.

Oh so fresh 12'' from the Studio Barnhus camp – music by Baba Stiltz, artwork by Theodor Johansson. Palats lures you in with its grandiose synth theme over popping percussion before all bassline mayhem breaks loose – Crypt is a soft whisper of a house anthem, full of beautiful Babaesque melodies that finally disintegrate into heavenly static.

Watch out for a Baba Stiltz long player dropping on Studio Barnhus later this year. Watch out for Baba!

For his latest record, Last Magpie returns to Hypercolour and the 'Separation' EP once again showcases his deft and varied skill sets. While the title track is trippy and analogue-centred, we're really feeling 'Silver' and we've got the first play.

The track starts off with a stomping groove and that's backed up by chunky riffs and clever little hi-hats. The whole thing transforms however once the beautifully serene piano chords are introduced, from there it's just a stairway to the clouds.

The Bobby Donny label hits number four with a first EP of 2016. After efforts from label owner Frits Wentink and Eindhoven producer SAN2, this one comes from Tlim Shug. The low-profile American producer has only one EP to his name so far, but it was an impressive one that came on Echovolt Records last year and suggested he has a passion for moody and lo-fi deep house.

'Rari Techno' is up first and operates in an underground cavern. It sets a sombre tone with its swirling pads and buried deep kicks all obscured by a grainy sheen of dust. That analogue warmth continues with 'Wig $plit' which has a loose and raw percussive line laid over tender piano chords, bumpy drums and a gritty vocal rap. It’s a fresh fusion that will get clubs on their toes before 'Mutuality' again sounds all knackered and broke, scuffed up and imperfect with its squelchy synths, off time hits and stuttering kicks. Last of all 'Overcaste Tune' is another zoned out and moody deep house offering that sounds like L.I.E.S. artist Terekke at his best. This is a brilliantly insular and atmospheric EP that oozes subtle emotion and a cautious sense of optimism.

Technodub Seance was founded in 2011 by two producers krisz deak and ZOL with the purpose of exploring the possibilities of dubtechno. In the beginning TDS operated as an undeground movement for a handful of dubtech fans, with contemporary vinyl DJs and live act producers of Budapest - to open new gates for the timeless sound of dub and techno. The aim was not only to propagate a peripheral genre, but collect and support local producers and to keep alive the value of electronic live acts.
