My next attempt. Trying out some new gear - Xone 42 I just got from Jandro, and a couple of 1200's connected to Traktor for the first time.

I tried to do a more mellow, melodic set. Found later that it had no chill. The goal was to explore the deeper dimensions of modern techno. This mix includes tracks from Planetary Assault Systems, UVB, Unam Zetineb, YYYY, KVD, Edit Select, Sven Vath, Deepbass, and Abdullah Rashim. Enjoy!

Juana (the artist formerly known as Brdhs) is so house. Birthed from a tribe of light-skinned opera singers and children of the soul mother from the universal vibrations of the earth spirit, Juana grew up on a steady diet of smooth jazz, jheri curl funk, and prog rock, which shaped her sensibilities immeasurably. Her early musical inspirations include Hendrix, Can, Frank Zappa, Roy Ayers, Deftones, Patrick Adams, Prince, Tool, Norman Connors, RZA, Pepe Bradock, Cocteau Twins, Roxy Music, Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Mtume, and a bunch of classical dudes. She began collecting records at age 4 and stealing tapes and CDs from Tower Records at around 14.

Juana has been a DC staple since 2004. Bored with her humble beginnings as a bedroom DJ spinning pulsating sweaty drug-fueled disco sessions alone in her Northside Chicago efficiency, she relocated to DC where she connected with the likes of Sam "the Man" Burns and immediately offered to carry his records around for free. This dedicated sycophancy earned her opening spots at some of the top underground house clubs in DC, such as Red, Dragonfly, and DC Sanctuary, and lots of places somewhere down on New York Avenue. Although she is generally afraid of talking with her mouth, preferring the uttering of the depths of her heart, she also caught the attention of online radio stations and played weekly shows on HandzOnRadio (BMore) and CyberJamz (Tampa), beating down office workers worldwide with her unique blend of deep house, techno, disco, rare groove, and fart noises. 

Around 2010, Juana again decided to flake on the world, going on hiatus, and robbing it of her naked and fearless genius.

A city wept.

But that very next year, she began to harken on the sweet, ethereal sounds that haunted her her entire life, making original tracks that would propel her into fame almost immediately. For one, renown UK DJ/producer Ben Sims has said of her artistry, "I don't get it," and "It's okay." This kind of acclaim has been just the beginning of her trajectory into the the souls of true heads everywhere. Her residency at Dr. Clock's, the infamous Tech Support parties, has attracted alcoholics from all throughout walking distance.

2016 and 2017 opened up many new avenues for Juana, joining forces with numerous local heavy hitters in DC, playing the Acid People party series with the likes of Ron Jackson, Damon Bradley, and Tsurugi. Juana also recently link up with TechnoFist, Void Archive, and Select DC as part of the quickly growing Sequence party series, on opening duties for Detroit's BMG, and getting muy loca closing for Discwoman (Volvox and Umfang) and Tommy Four Seven. She's also had the good fortune to open up for the likes of Rick Wade and Kai Alce, Stefan Goldman, and Pan-Pot. Watch this space!

Bio:
Damon Bradley is a veteran of the electronic music scene since 1993, but only DJing since 2005. Originally from Philly, he now hosts techno parties in Washington DC. Damon is the creator of TechnoFist and is also one of the co-founders of SEQUENCE in DC.

Damon Bradley, a resident of central Maryland, USA, was born and raised in South Philadelphia. It was here that he was first exposed to the beginnings of house music on Saturday nights on the legendary 105.3 FM WDAS R&B and classic soul radio station back in 1989. A few years later, while searching for new sounds, he stumbled on ambient, techno, and trance nearly simultaneously during the summer of 1993, on Drexel University’s WKDU 91.7 FM. During these formative years, Damon instantly fell in love with the sounds of Josh Wink, Sven Vaeth, Oliver Lieb, The Orb, Joey Beltram, Steve Roach, Aphex Twin, and just about anything released on the Harthouse, Strictly Rhythm, and R&S music labels. Damon only started DJ’ing around 2007, playing progressive house for a few parties and UMBC’s student radio station while in graduate school. He returned to his techno roots in 2010 and started DJ’ing techno in 2015 in Washington DC.

Damon’s musical influences span a very broad spectrum from ambient to industrial techno, groovy and soulful house, and melodic progressive trance. Currently, he’s focused on exposing the boundaries of techno to as many people as possible, and he does this using the TechnoFist group and TechnoFist podcast he created in 2014 and 2015, respectively. He curates both new and classic techno on TechnoFist which now has over 1,200 members, mostly from New York, Washington DC, and various countries in Europe. Damon has played in various places in Washington DC, including Jimmy Valentines, and Dr. Clocks Nowhere Bar for the Degenerate, Void Archive, and Phonic parties.

More recently, Damon joined forces with Ron Jackson, Jacob Knibb, Boss Ross, and Juana to form SEQUENCE, an ambitious underground techno event series that aims to push the Washington DC techno scene as far as possible. SEQUENCE has been throwing parties since August 2016, and has feature strong local talent alongside heavyweights such as Headless Horseman, UVB, Discwoman, Milton Bradley, BMG, and Tommy Four Seven.

Lost In Ether | Origin Series | Olivia

This time we invited another Polish hero - Olivia.

BIO:
Known to many as one of Unsound’s resident DJs, Olivia has been one of the key figures of the Kraków club scene for the past 14 years.
The originator of the fabled Kraków club night – We Are Radar – conceived and orchestrated with her confrère Chino, Olivia remains fully committed to growing the local scene – as a member of the Radar collective, resident and main booker for Szpitalna 1 – Kraków’s leading underground club space, one half of DJ duo Chrono Bross.

Recenlty, together with collaborators Chino and Steffen Bennemann, Olivia has launched a hybrid live/DJ performance project Morskie Oko.

Her reputation has steadily amplified over the years thanks to her idiosyncratic track selection and excellent technical skills. Through raw and dark techno, liquid acid, deep cosmic reaches, the simplicity of electro and the warmth of house, her sets shine with originality and a strong belief in the sound she delivers.

She draws inspiration from both music and the world around her – from the future shock of Detroit techno, via the distinctive Dutch sound, ebm, industrial, cold wave, acid, electro, synth and house, through to the images and ideals of science fiction and technological progression. The infinity of space, the unfulfilled promises of robot designs and the unexplained mysteries of paranormal phenomena all inform her approach to music and her search for sound.

We are back with the fifteenth BunkerBauer Podcast and this time we have a good friend from the States behind the decks, Damon Bradley - @technofist 

Damon has been spinning and collecting records for many years, and he's the man behind the @technofist site and podcast series. We first met him playing at Endurance and fell in love with his energy and knowledge about the good old days.

Internationally, Damon also headlined Copenhagen’s new rave series called Endurance, flanked by Hyperaktivist, Lunde and Ronde, and Ezy, and also played a few impromptu parties during Amsterdam Dance Event 2018 and Dekmantel 2017.
Damon has played at all ends of the running order, opening for the likes of Shifted, Ben Damage, Exos, and Phase, and closing for juggernauts such as Perc, Tommy Four Seven, Headless Horseman, Stranger, Milton Bradley, The Gods Planet, Jeff Mills, FJAAK, and Pure Immenance.

In 2016, Damon teamed up with Ron Jackson, Jacob Knibb, Associate and Juana to form SEQUENCE, an ambitious underground techno event series that aims to push the Washington DC techno scene as far as possible. SEQUENCE has been throwing parties since August 2016, and has featured strong local talent alongside heavyweights such as Headless Horseman, UVB, Discwoman, Milton Bradley, BMG, and Tommy Four Seven.

In March 2019, Damon started a new party series in the US called Katalyst, which bridges the gap between future techno with classic trance sounds of the early '90s. He’s already featured 11 artists in only 2 parties already and hopes to feature many more in the near future.

About the mix:
I had 3 objectives with this mix.
1) Blend opposites - past and present techno, hard and abrasive with gentle and melodic
2) Showcase intense tracks that seem to tell a story but also get folks moving fast
3) Dedication to my late mom who passed away in June - FSOL Papua New Guinea was one of her favorite songs I'd play for her over 20 years ago while I was a teenager just discovering the music, and Ibon No Sleep is the last song I played for her, a week before she died.

So the tracks include Oliver Lieb (as Superspy and L.S.G.), D. Carbone, DJ IBON, Funeral Future, Devilfish, I-E from ISMUS, Avalone, Luis Ruiz, Meiler Avenue, 999999999, and Hadone.

Next in the series we have Damon Bradley, from Maryland, USA. The head behind TechnoFist, and a true trotter in the game. He is also the founder of Katalyst, a US-based party series which bridges the gap between future techno with classic trance sounds of the early '90s.
