Mr Sandman calls on us once again. This week we wind down do the sounds of Stay Positive as we delve deep into his dreams.

"I dreamt this dream whilst passed out on the floor of a house party somewhere in south-east London. A few hours from then my Dad was due to pick me up and drive me up to Manchester - where I'd live for at least the next 4 years whilst I attended the Royal Northern College of Music. It was my only ever lucid dream experience.

I was stood on a platform in a huge train station. It had vaulted brick archways. The ceiling was so high it made me nauseous to look at it. The platforms were very long and stretched almost infinitely both in front of and behind me. The station was quiet: most platforms were devoid of people or trains, whilst one or two were occupied by people patiently and silently waiting. I too was waiting patiently and silently. I felt calm.

The train pulled up. It made very little sound - just the hissing of hydraulics and an implication of the turning of very well oiled wheels. It was made almost entirely of glass and the huge curved sheets were supported by a highly polished brass skeleton. It resembled a victorian bathysphere. I realised that I didn't have any bags with me. I was the only person on the platform.

The train was now stopped in front of me. Due to the glass I could see the entire interior of the carriage. It was full but not crowded. Everyone had a seat and every seat was taken. I knew every passenger. I could see friends, teachers and relatives. Most were engaged in light conversation and the atmosphere seemed to be one of excited anticipation - but not in an overtly extrovert way.

The train had no doors and I felt no urge to try to board it. 

The interior slowly filled to the very top with water and then, when it was full, the train gradually accelerated away from the platform and out of sight."

The theme for my playlist is music that inspired me while making our record that releases today on Wharf Cat Records!

-Pylon, "Dub"
I'm gonna start with Pylon. This band was one of our main influencers from the very start. And this is easily my favorite song of theirs.

-Suburban Lawns, "Janitor"
During a photo shoot with Peter Senzamici, we recreated the cover of this album and used that photo for all the press of our EP. Such a great band, if you like the B-52's and Devo... you'll love Suburban Lawns. They are like a mix of the two.

-Total Control, "Retiree"
The intro drum beat in this song inspired my drums in our song “Save Me”. James (the drummer) is a friend of mine and his talent continues to blows my mind. Listen to "Systematic Fuck" from their album Typical System... it's insane.

-Cheveu, "Lola"
When we first started writing as a band, we created a playlist of inspirational songs. This song was one of my contributions because I was so obsessed with it at the time.

-Protomartyr, "Pagans"
Elizabeth (WALL's bass player) approached me with the idea of starting WALL at a Protomartyr show! She asked me to jam with her and within that same night we asked Vince to join too. Then Sam got added and the rest is history.

-Bikini Kill, "Carnival"
Bikini Kill is the reason I started planning music. I've written Kathleen a few love letters over the past couple of years. And, to this day, she's written me back every time! I wish I could play drums like Tobi Vail. This band (and it's members) is one of my main sources of strength and inspiration.

-The Clean, "On/Off Again"
I love how simple this song is. And how cheerful it sounds despite being about what sounds like a difficult relationship. It reminds me of my friend, TJ.

-The Raincoats, "No Side to Fall In"
Bikini Kill may have been the first band to inspire me to make music of my own. But The Raincoats are who made me want to learn the drums. This band is a classic and their drummer, Palmolive, is one of my favorite drummers of all time.

-Sleaford Mods, "Jolly Fucker"
I am so obsessed with this band. I just finally saw them live on their second tour ever in the US. I had the flu but came out anyway and danced the whole night through.

-Stereolab, "Les Yper Sound"
This has been one of my favorite bands since I was a teenager. I love their long droney and repetitive songs. When Elizabeth and I started writing our song "River Mansion", a drum beat and bass line that stays the same throughout the entire song... I was channeling Stereolab. And I chose this song because I feel like its lyrical content is relevant to my experiences as a member of WALL. And it's destruction.

Rather than focussing on genres, Resom focusses on a range of moods and does the same on her travels whether playing our festival in Amsterdam or an intimate club in London. Also a political activist, booking agent and gender equality campaigner, she is a new breed of artist who is mindful of how important her voice and platform can be in the dance world. 

The mix she serves up for us is one of there longest we’ve had, and over more than two hours offers pad-laced stimulation for the mind as well as jerky machine rhythms that will make you move.“This mix has no deeper concept then to simply let go from having a concept”, Resom adds. Her contribution to our series is often dark and stripped back, there are curveball moments of wildness and heads down passages of electronic funk. Typically free from easy genre signifiers, this is dynamic music that always keeps you guessing.

The head honcho of one of the more consistent labels around today has provided us with just shy of ninety minutes of gritty, left of centre rhythms from the likes of Toresch, DMX Krew, Broken English Club and Golden Teacher. The blend is presented with significant character, coloured by the weighty, coarse attitude that also seeps through the seams in Credit 00’s own productions.
