BIO:

HYPERKARMA—the DJ alias of Minneapolis’s Jennifer Waege—knows from dark music. A regular at two of the Twin Cities’ most notable club nights, Dark Energy and Gothess, she began spinning in 2003: “Industrial, noise, ambient, goth, new wave, powernoise, stuff on the darker end of the spectrum,” she says, usually between bands for shows she promoted in Reno. When she moved back to the Twin Cities in 2014, she figured on DJing less, until receiving an invitation to play at a hot new Minneapolis party called Dark Energy—her debut was in 2016—where the DJs blended “that old school industrial sound” Hyperkarma loved with techno.

 

“It was an event that I was really digging,” she says. “The dark beacon of techno was calling my name and I didn’t even realize it was out there, you know? It was an immediate attraction: ‘Oh my god, you can play both of them together?!’”

 MIX NOTES:

For this mix, Hyperkarma has delved into straight-up techno. “Getting involved in the techno lifestyle—it was like jumping into the deep end of the pool. And I decided to swim. Nobody pushed me. I jumped into this willingly. This is the music that speaks to me. This music has changed me. Finding techno was like coming home to me.”

What a wicked show we have for you folks! Our next guest, hailing from Copenhagen via Moscow, is a young artist who has been making quite a name for herself over the past couple of years, ANASTASIA KRISTENSEN. Having released on Monasterio's debut release from Moscow and now co-running Count 0 alongside Ctrls and Funeral Future out of Copenhagen, Anastasia is definitely a tour de force that's only getting started. 

Her eclecticism in musical taste is wide-reaching and encompassing, and is always elegantly manifested in all of her techno journeys, be it inside the club playing live feeding off the energy from the crowd or in the studio mixing, producing borrowing from her knowledge on electronic music amassed during her teenage years. For us, she put together a smashing hour of top-notch techno, full of superb and unreleased cuts that will surely keep your heart-rate in check. 

Coming up for Anastasia on the production front, is a remix on BLD Tape due next month and an original work for the Black V/A series on Nous Disques due in October. And that same month you can catch this fine laureate in action, where she's been billed to wreak havoc at the Culture Box in the Danish capital for the Perc Trax showcase. Pär Grindvik has been a central figure in the Swedish electronic scene since the 90s as record store owner, label manager and producer. In his artistic career Pär has released music across a plethora of acclaimed electronic labels, including a string of hits on his own Stockholm LTD imprint as well as Drumcode, with frequent collaborator Hardcell. Pär’s recent output has seen him contribute music to labels such as Semantica, Marbacka, Sinister and Dystopian.

Founded in 2002, Stockholm LTD began as an outlet for singles and EPs from Swedish artists with a focus on releasing timeless electronic music. It has since developed into a hallmark for finely crafted electronic music from a range of international artists.

Over the past two decades Pär’s involvement with the electronic music community has branched out across the globe. Openly passionate about supporting underground talent, Pär works closely with an ever-expanding repertoire of labels and artists.

As a DJ Pär tours the world, transporting his deft and uniquely dynamic DJ sets to techno fans internationally and on a weekly basis. His worldwide popularity as a performer stems not only from his skill and versatility but also as a result of the energy he puts into every performance. It's this combination that enables him to bring the heat to the best clubs in the world.

Pär continues to serve as one of the most exciting and hardworking contributors to the scene. Every inch of Pär’s work, including labels, artwork, release info and music, is wrapped with heart and emotion, a quality which keeps the sparkle and curiosity alive within the ever changing adaptations of the artistic world.

Francesco Visconti, better known as VSK, is an Italian techno dj and producer, born in Rome in 1986 and based in Berlin.
Since his earliest youth he has had a huge passion for electronic music, and through hanging out at the famous record store from the Capital “Remix”, he was introduced to the world of djing when he wa only 16 years old.
He has got familiar to different forms of techno, his style ranging from a sound usually very hard and dark, often with industrial influences, to a very different one, deeper and more mental, both still easily recognizable as coming from the same mind.
	    	    
He started to perform very early as a dj in the clubs of the Capital and from 2007 he was  resident dj at Goa Club for two seasons.
At the same time he met the artist Ken Karter, who introduced him to the world of production and mastering. He began an education as an audio-engineer and sound-designer, in music and especially in television, working in different recording studios; currently he does this alongside his artistic career.

In 2010 he and his friends Conrad Van Orton and Vilix started their own label “Consumer Recreation Service”, which got immediate support from big names in the international techno scene.
Over the years he has relesed  eps on many other important labels such as New Rhythmics, Planet Rhythm, Ear To Ground, Sonntag Morgen, Complex Adaptive System and Genesa.
In 2015 he set up a collaboration with the Serbian artist Scalameriya, releasing a first ep on the English label Power Vacuum, and in 2016 a second one on the legendary label Perc Trax. Their collaboration is not limited to production, but it also includes live performances.                            In the same year he also signed an extended six-track ep with Conrad Van Orton on Developer’s imprint Modularz (USA).
