We started ‘The Classic Series’ featuring tracks that we love, bought, played out and which we have the feeling more people should know about them. 

For this fourth release, It is a great honor for us to welcome such a living legend, a pioneer from the Chicago house & techno scene : Roy Davis Jr. This project includes three very rare cuts and timeless moments of deep Chicago house. 

On A side : ‘I’m Tha D.J.’, released in 1995 on Kumba Records + ‘Under Tha Sun’, released in 1995 on Downtown 161. On B side : Modal (Woody McBride & David Stevens) ‘Lovers’ remixed by Roy Davis Jr. & Dj Skull. A massive, rare, and very demand track, previously released in 1996 on Sounds (subdivision of Communiqué). Our favorite secret weapons, a real masterpiece of deep tech Chicago sounds. Enjoy !

Suuuuuuuuuuper proud and happy to present you my next 12" via Lumberjacks in Hell that's out today!!! As maybe Mendel and Adrien will be able to testify I have been struggling with BROWN CURLS (performed by Khalil Anthony) for a couple of years, as I always had something that egged me about it. I dont see myself as a perfectionist but there is a certain line that mustn't be crossed . So it might come as no surprise that my favourite (released) version is actually not by myself but the restless genius Patchworks who transformed it into a perfect boogie bomb!!! Try it, it will work 100% !!!
But that's not even the title track! The EP is called IF YOU LIKE , hey? The track has been around just as long as the beginning of Brown Curls really and started as a remix, that morphed and morphed and morphed into what it is now, my take on a Afro-Boogie track. Thanks to everyone involved foremost Jan van Mastrigt on Bass, Derek van Beelen on Drums, Jair Wix on Guitar and Tim Jules on Keys.

London-based Quintessentials continues to chug along. After their 10 year anniversary and impressive 60th release, they've already gone on to release two more EPs with the third one on the way now. Stepping up to the plate this time is NY*AK. The Newcastle-based hardware guru already has an impressive resume of releases under his belt on labels such as Local Talk, Phonica's Karakul and Ninja Tune's Techinicolour imprints. The Vice EP on Quintessentials is another strong outing, featuring everything from sultry vocals on the A1 'After the Sun' to deep and raw Detroit grooves on the title track 'Vice'.

Hell Yeah's Marco has been busy trawling the internet for new talents during lockdown. The result is a series of digital releases which will be rolling out in the coming months, kicking off with a new EP from Kayroy.

Kayroy is Finnian Langham, an artist from Melbourne, Australia, who in the last 12 months has released on Whiskey Disco and TheBasement, turning plenty of heads with his mature, sampladelic interpretations of funk, disco, house, boogie and soul. He got in touch with the label via email to ask for the vocal version of Giorgia Morandi's 'Children of the Sky'. "I couldn't find it," says Marco, "but after that he sent me a bunch of tracks that make up this EP. To my ears, it is fast, funked-up boogie with heavy Italo disco influences, acid and breakbeat, making it a very fresh selection to my ears."

Opener ‘Imagine’, produced with fellow Melbournite GREETINGS, is a glistening space disco cut with a sense of nostalgia rushing through its retro-future chords. It's filled with positive energy and gorgeous arps. 'Orbitale’ will get your butt wiggling with its sci-fi chord stabs and boogie bass. The whole thing shimmers and shines like a star in the night sky, filling you with warmth. The grown-up disco vibes continue on 'Galapagos' with its mellow acid bass, big stabs and kaleidoscopic arpeggios. The release is topped-off with a remix of ‘Imagine’ from Dawn Again, taking you to an old school chill-out room with its dreamy chords and hazy breakbeats, sinking you deep into a post-rave comedown.

This is a rich new EP from one of the fastest rising new names in the game
