** Podcast 132 - CTAFAD (aka Sun Dawei) **

Sun Dawei is an electronic musician, guitarist and active composer, with roots in punk, writing music for movies and fashion shows, and jingles. His 2003 he released his first experimental electronic album ‘Air Inhibition of Water’ as the alias Sulumi on one of China’s renowned electronic labels, soon after launching his own label, Shanshui Records releasing both local and international talent and celebrating the revolution of Chinese electronic music.

The following years for Sun included the exploration of the Chiptune style, a form of synthesised electronic music made using synths in vintage arcade machines, computers and video-game consoles, performing at at the BLIP music festival in New York, touring through China, further exploration through multiple releases, remixes and albums under various aliases, before more recently announcing his CTAFAD project. 

And this is where our paths cross.

His 12-track ‘Vertical Horizontal’ album released in September last year piqued our curiosity and prompted us to keep digginb, and it’s now our biggest pleasure to feature a dedicated mix from yet another active and inspiring musician.

Ậ.Deniậl - is also known as Annes, based in St. Petersburg/Russia, who entered the DJs in 2008. Having taken her first steps in underground techno and breakbeat in the first techno club "Tunnel" (St.Petersburg). Since then, she has taken a great style journey and in 2018 techno culture brought her back.

In 2019, she created her own events called Sacred Sound Events, specializing in the underground and hypnotic side of electronic music.

Ậ Deniậl sounds are a combination of shamanic rhythms and a deep dark atmosphere with a mental message.

Dilemma Podcast 062 Giorgio Gigli from Rome (Italy). After a deep exploration of several kinds of electronic dance music, in a broad evolutionary path, Giorgio Gigli’s music has assumed an intense and personal form of communication.
The modules emerging from his compositions run across a process where moods are transformed into waves, layers and substrates that are ready to catch and overwhelm the listener without changing original content.

His skill is to transmit an accurate signal using undiscovered frequencies inspired by desolate and noir tinged landscapes. Giorgio transforms his material. Voids, pitfalls, drones and dilated melodies become intricate, sophisticated, and hypnotic rhythmic equipment that runs the risk of constantly changing classicist techno aesthetics in a conceptual derivation close to his soul.

Giorgio loves ambient music that dues to its descriptive power allows him to analyze and render every vibration and vision, both during production and his long dj sets, where he explores empty rooms that are filled with vintage recordings, ethereal drones and field sonority. This particular working method is also reflected in his harder sets, where rhythm increases tension while it is moving forward unchallenged through industrial echoes, robotic tricks and building grooves that produce shaped variations of his meaning. Substance thickens to provide a thoughtful and reflexive listening experience.

All these elements are poured into his project “Zooloft Records”, the platform that represent him in a past few years. Now his techno vision involved into new collaborative projects with Speedy J’s Electric Deluxe and Perc (“Endless” project). Starting from 2011 the collaboration with Electric Deluxe has established an intense relationship ferrying his DJ set in a new dimension where it combines an industrial/dark approach with a solid stream techno club-oriented

Damyan is a soundscape explorer and storyteller from Sofia, Bulgaria. With a background in architecture, he is also a resident DJ of the Transference and СКИТНИК parties - the brand name of a series of conceptual events in Sofia, dedicated to exploring modern hypnotic soundscapes.
‘ I am always drawing inspiration from the beautiful and diverse nature surrounding me. In the process of creating my stories, I always imagine different scenarios, landscapes, visions, and emotions, the same way I'm defining space in an architectural project I represent these imaginative journeys in sound. ‘

Initially as part of the duo disørda, he started to release music under his second pseudonym in 2019. He soon was able to place his creations on important labels like Emphatic Rec, Concrete Records and Aarden Records. His musical identity has ever been evolving, from a raw industrial to today's deep and hypnotic sound.

AHIL is a techno DJ based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
His sound can be described as rolling, layered with hypnotic elements combined with heavy-hitting kicks. He is always aiming to blend the different elements together in the best way possible, to create a really tense and hypnotic atmosphere.
Lately he is been attracted to the more hypnotic and dark side of techno, heavily influenced by labels like Modularz, Edit Select, NON Series, Faut Section to new a few.

“This particular mix was created just after a visiting Berlin, late 2021. I went here with some friends to fulfill my desire to dance in a dark and sweaty club. It contains a lot of hypnotic elements combined with heavy-hitting kicks, just how I like it the most when I’m on a dancefloor. The only thing you can do is find your rhythm and dance to it”

ABOUT US

TechnoTrippin' was established in the early 2014 in Barcelona to support the small techno scene that was emerging slowly but intensely.

In 2015 "Techno in the Forest", an underground festival on the outskirts of Barcelona, was born with the idea of creating strong links between artists, collectives, labels, dancers and everyone related to the underground scene in the city.
After 4 unforgettable editions, we decided we had accomplished our objective of uniting the scene and Techno in the Forest celebrated its last memorable gathering in 2018.

Since then, we have been operating only as a non-profit underground techno platform releasing podcasts & premieres from artists and labels around the globe.

In 2024, celebrating our 10th Anniversary, we launched our solidary techno label, focused on releasing music to help people who are in terryfing situations.

All the proceeds from all releases will go to different NGOs like Save The Children, UNRWA and Open Arms.*

We plan to put on another TechnoTrippin' in the Forest (V). We feel it's time again, after the pandemic, to support and unite the local techno scene by providing an unrivalled quality sound system, a place surrounded by nature, and an atmosphere that reflects the fact that we are not in it for the money. We put our heart and soul into it, simply because we can, and for us, techno is a way of life.
