Quick geography lesson: Across the cold seas of the Atlantic, nestled between and surrounded by the UK, France, Germany, and the Netherlands is the little country of Belgium. Mostly known to Americans for their waffles and chocolates, it might come as a surprise that Ghent, Belgium is also home to some of the best new garage pop bands to emerge this year. Earlier this year we issued the critically acclaimed US debut cassette by dreamy-folky guitar poppers The Future Dead, whose cutesy, sunshiney feel-good pop won over a lot of romantics this Summer 2013. Now we are proud and pumped to import to you the raw and ready ripper sounds of The Tubs. Like some of the best weirdo garage rockers of the past decade, The Tubs combine the simplicity and immediacy of punk with unique perspectives on arrangement, vocals, and songwriting. In a climate where the word "garage rock" will send some running away (because, let's face it; there are a lot more "garage rock" bands than their are competent and imaginative songwriters) it's a beautiful reminder of why we loved it in the first place. The Tubs bring to mind the loose power and raw effortlessness of The Hunches; a band so good and so volatile that they literally imploded. The Tubs music and lyrical content, which is only slightly less dark than The Hunches (or even The Hospitals) and sung in mostly English with a high pitched Belgian accent, are delivered with precision and strength; not unlike a roundhouse kick to the face. Summer is slowly coming to an end, the darkness and the cold only weeks away; The Tubs will help you enter the night.

Flatbush ZOMBiES x The Underachievers - No Religion

<a href="http://www.redbull.it/cs/Satellite/it_IT/Red-Bull-Music-Academy-Fuoriclasse/001243174217288">RBMA Fuoriclasse</a> is an event series in Italy featuring Italian Red Bull Music Academy alumni as well as international artists. This April will see a special tour of Milan, Rome and Pescara featuring Behold, the new joint live project of <a href="http://soundcloud.com/esperanza-4">Esperanza</a> and <a href="https://soundcloud.com/jesseboykinsiii">Jesse Boykins III</a>, and an additional DJ set by class of 2008's <a href="https://soundcloud.com/eltron-john">Eltron John</a>.

The Italian trio Esperanza expands musical categories, econstructing their own blissful soundscapes from the rubble of Detroit techno, ’60s psychedelia, Balearic slow jams and molten desert rock. The three-way partnership between 2008 graduate Cécile, bassist Matteo and all-rounder Sergio teams up with Jesse Boykins III as Behold. Jesse’s unique sense for melodic textures has made him one to watch on the forward-thinking R&B scene. After collaborations with the likes of Theophilus London, Bilal, The Foreign Exchange and Machinedrum, Jesse brings out the soul in this new live project alongside his fellow Italian Academy participant.
