"Ukiyo" stands for floating, fleeting or transient world. It refers to a state of mind that is emphasising living in the present moment. I always lose track of time when sketching out soundscapes and diving into atmospheres. It feels good to share these sketches on the day they emerge. 

I hope it makes your mind escape our hectic world for a brief moment too :)

The debut track on ZOT Records from Vancouver Canada based artist So Sus

So Sus is a Vancouver-based transfemme artist redefining the edges of trap, dubstep, and experimental bass music with a signature sound that fuses emotive depth with club-ready intensity. Blending visceral storytelling with genre-bending production, she has become one of the most compelling voices in the new wave of electronic music.

Her work has found a home on some of the scene’s most respected labels, including Monstercat, Deadbeats, Circus Records, Subsidia, FMU Records, MorFlo, Dome of Doom, and now ZOT Records.

A two-time JUNO Award nominee, So Sus first broke through with her 2021 debut EP Voices, earning a nomination for Dance Recording of the Year. She returned to the category in 2025 with her acclaimed EP Call Me When, cementing her status as a standout producer, songwriter, and sound designer. That same year, she was named Electronic Artist of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards.

Plastician’s Terrorhythm continue their 2017 apace with the release of new Deadcrow ‘Light Trails’, the follow up to 2016 debut, ‘Night Wonder’ — one of the label’s most successful releases of the last 12 months.

A producer in a similar mould to recent debutant, Klasey Jones, Deadcrow’s hi-def beats and sharp, shimmering melodies project a widescreen, OST-inspired approach to beat programming, only underpinned by harder, trap sensibilities. Wave, the term loosely used to describe music that draws inspiration from instrumental cloud-wave rap, drill and grime, is a core influence, but as EP opener ‘Viper’ suggests, Deadcrow’s music feels rooted in sci-fi fantasy and bright, neon futures.

Synths are a constant, defining feature across all five tracks and at their headiest on spar-kling track, ‘Blade’, with heavyset, rumbling sub patterns also giving the full EP legs for the club — particularly on booming, curveball ’Strayed’ — where Deadcrow will no doubt make his presence felt in 2017 too.

ONHELL's second EP on Terrorhythm lands - complete with feature from East London grime MC Trim.

Kill Your Self Doubt is the latest exploration of beats and bass from West Coast producer ONHELL, fresh off the back of an outing on Dubstep legend DJ Youngsta's label Sentry, where he featured on their recent compilation.

Featuring a vocal outing from Grime vet Trim, the EP gets straight down to business, a snarling bassline surrounded by Trim's trademark stuttering flow gives us a taste for what is to come, and things get deliciously weirder and more twisted as this one goes on.

With flashes of more bass influence dovetailing with some strong IDM influence, this is an EP that sets out to smash boundaries, and does so with force.

Words from ONHELL:

2018 was probably the worst year of my life. For a while there I was under the impression I was gonna go to prison for a good number of years. Luckily I swooped out of that situation and am on the come up. It's been a long road and music definitely took a big hit during that period in my life. I know some find inspiration within conflict, but in this case, making music confidently was really hard. This next release is my come back. Kill your self doubt is just a message I feel represents my mindset after all the turmoil and I hope it inspires more confidence in everyone's art.
