Beside Berlin and Hannover now the city we live in, Cottbus, is the third German city which became a hub for the daily trains coming from Poland, full with refugees from the Ukraine. First station for them in Germany before they spread to find a shelter in Germany. We have 2022 and this is reality and not a bad movie. And you are so right - lessons not learned. The Russians wre the ones who payed the highest blood toll in the 2nd world war. Now we are three generations after and what happens is unbelievable. Thank you Terry for this shout!

Brilliant. I'm so glad to see so many musicians using their creative abilities to spread these ideas. I imagine there has never been a time in history where the world has had such profound access into these kinds of horrifying live events. Maybe that will be the thing that shifts world consciousness. Enough daily horror to wake anyone with a heart up; help us rethink who we're putting in charge. Nicely done, Terry.

I wrote and mixed this piece in one day due to my quarantine of covid. Thankfully I can engage myself with music and so maybe I will drop as many tracks as I can for the next 7 days. I am thankful for any critique (especially in mixing and mastering) and I hope you will like this piece :)

I hope I'm just one of countless musicians in the free world lending a creative voice to express the outrage at Putin's 2nd invasion of Ukraine. With my own extended family roots in Ukraine, maybe I'm feeling the frustration and sense of being left alone to fight the bully on the block. Ukraine is the front line for the rest of Europe, and it cannot fall.  1939 here we come again. Lessons not learned. FU*K!

Taking its title from a fascinating book of the same name by writer, publisher and ultra-runner, Robin Harvie, this tune attempts to give musical expression to the reasons why I regularly lace up my running shoes and leave the house to pound the country lanes and footpaths near to where I live when there are arguably a thousand-and-one more "important" things I could be doing with my precious time.

Robin's book is both an intriguing study of his own personal journey to the start line of one of the toughest ultra races on earth: the Spartathlon, and a pleasingly detailed history of the act of distance running itself. This, my first electronic music release for several months, is much more modest in scale - very much like my running ambitions (at least when compared to Robin's) - but it could be said that it attempts to capture and articulate the same, natural urge.

Why We Run was made entirely in Ableton Live v11 using Spitfire Audio's LABS plug-in for some of the component sounds. It was composed and recorded during spring/summer 2022.

„Fluss von Schlüsseln“ oder Klaviertasten im spielerischen Flow

Manchmal sind alle Sinne auf diesen einen Moment fokussiert.
Ich betrachte die Klaviertasten. Schwarze und weiße Tasten. 
Es ist viel mehr.  
KLAVIER : C L A V I S  ( von lateinisch clavis “SCHLÜSSEL“ mittellateinisch clavis „Taste“

Die Schlüssel zu einem magischen Reich der Klänge.
Es besteht aus so vielen Materialien. Holz von alten Bäumen, vermutlich Wäldern die gar nicht mehr existieren. Was vermag dieses alte Holz zu erzählen. Im Feuer entstand der Gussrahmen mit Kreuzbesaitung. Ein großer Resonanzboden verstärkt die Schwingungen, während mit den Tasten die Hämmer mit gebogenen Filzboden die Saiten schlugen und so alles zu Klang wird.
Viele Menschen haben dieses Instrument mit viel harter Arbeit und Inspiration entstehen lassen.

Alles hat eine Geschichte und dies möchte das Klavier mir und uns erzählen.

Ich setzte mich an das Klavier und berühre die Tasten. 
Nein, ich spiele nicht. Das Klavier spielt mit mir, denn es möchte jetzt durch mich eine von vielen Geschichten erzählen.
Mal zart, dann fordernd, zuweilen mal ekstatisch mit einem starken Hang zum dramatischen, ganz leise fast flüsternd und dann wieder liebevoll.
Es ist ein Rausch der Sinne. 
Somit haben die Tasten mich berührt und dieses Stück entstehen lassen.

"Flow of keys" or piano keys in a playful flow ?

Sometimes all senses are focused on this one moment.
I look at the piano keys. Black and white buttons.
It is much more.

The keys to a magical realm of sounds.
It's made of so many materials. Wood from old trees, probably forests that no longer exist. What can this old wood tell. The sprue with cross stringing was created in the fire. A large soundboard amplifies the vibrations, while the keys are used to hit the strings with curved felt-backed hammers, making everything sound.
Many people have created this instrument with a lot of hard work and inspiration.

Everything has a story and this is what the piano wants to tell me and us.

I sit down at the piano and touch the keys.
No, I don't play. The piano plays with me because it wants to tell one of many stories through me.
Sometimes tender, then demanding, sometimes ecstatic with a strong tendency to be dramatic, very quietly almost whispering and then loving again.
It is an intoxication of the senses.
So the keys touched me and created this piece.

I watched Glastonbury with old legends like Elton, Cat Stevens, Blondie and The Pretenders etc. who all showed they can still rock the place in their 70s!! Amazing! Hats off to all!!

Here's a track in the "Brit" style and tradition and it gave me an excuse to give my guitars and voice a bit of an airing :)
