Bruno Schmidt’s label Domesticated is one of those imprints that exudes care, consideration and nous. From the exquisite artwork to the sophisticated music from exciting yet unassuming producers, it’s clearly a project run out of love for the artform. There’s a precise grasp of context, as evidenced by Sasha Zlykh’s fabulous track that finishes the EP, a speedy detuned-house track for the afters – you can easily imagine Schmidt dropping this at his upcoming gig on Closer Kiev’s terrace, signalling the moment when a dancer’s attention transfers from outwards to inwards and the late-late session really gets going. Our usual creator of these texts and an eloquent storyteller Luge has asked me to step in for this one so here you go and buckle up ladies & gentlemen. To state the obvious the label will see its first split EP which will go by the name Meat Fools. The side A is created by Caprithy and side B by Denis Kostitsyn, who are two longtime friends and the residents of the project ABCD originating from the city Izhevsk. These hardworking focused producers brought this vinyl to life for you to immense in their world and connect for us altogether regardless where your body is based. The combustion of sounds within this wax piece is dark, moody and fits to the label’s ideology like the Cinderella’s shoe.

On the A side AAA shows some love to the golden era of IDM with its B12-esque synth lines, and a growling grooving bass patch. Similarly weighty dance floor bomb Dynamic Traces has a mind-warping atmosphere, and a catchier hook than your favourite guilty pleasure.

Lose yourself in the gripping melancholy of Lourd, with more squelchy IDM-inflections, practically dripping in nostalgia. Swap plates to the C side to hear expert examples of deep and driven electro Pheonix and Rokit before gracefully coming to rest amongst the clouds in the arpeggiatted symphonies of A = 432 (Hz).
