TETRA | Resident Mix 002 - KYLO

Episode 001 of our new guest mix series under newly formed brand, TETRA based in Leeds.

Up and coming Leeds based DJ & Producer Mason Talbot joins us for our opening guest mix bringing us an upbeat, groovy minimal house vibe with tracks from artists such as: Jaden Thompson,  Kai Rodriguez, Ryan Resso, Michael Bibi and a couple of his own unreleased projects! 

Mason is a resident DJ for Untold Sounds and has played at parties around Leeds for Saltito Records. Mason has also had a number of releases on labels such as Mau Mau and Black Hole events and has more tunes available via his Soundcloud and Spotify 'Mason Talbot'.

Episode 008 of our guest mix series under newly formed brand, TETRA based in Leeds.

This week’s mix is brought to you by our first duo to appear on TETRA, Subtle.

Subtle have had appearances at Distrikt and Backrooms Leeds playing under brand ‘Secret Krush’.

We first came across the duo at a night at the Distrikt Bar in Leeds and the pair took the doors off the place playing a pumping minimal house/ tech house sound. We contacted them to join us for a mix following their performance and they join us this week bringing a vibey mix featuring tracks from Burnski, East End Dubs, Archie Hamilton, Djoko and more!

Search and Resistance in "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)"
In Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)," the striking repetition of "Everybody's looking for something" highlights a universal search for satisfaction, but also highlights the frustration of desires that always seem unattainable. Annie Lennox revealed that the lyrics emerged in a moment of despair and nihilism, which is reflected in the disenchanted worldview presented in the song: sweet dreams are made of expectations and illusions that everyone chases, with no guarantee of fulfillment.
The lines "Some of them want to use you / Some of them want to get used by you / Some of them want to abuse you / Some of them want to be abused" expose the dynamics of power and manipulation in human relationships. They suggest that, in the search for satisfaction, people can either exploit or submit to others. The chorus "Hold your head up, movin' on" serves as advice to preserve dignity and carry on, even in the face of uncertainty and exploitation. The context of the composition, marked by the personal and professional difficulties of the Eurythmics members, reinforces the song's tone of resignation and resilience, which has become a symbol for those facing adversity and needing to continue searching for meaning amidst chaos.

Established in Leeds Mid 2021, TETRA are a group of likeminded individuals who came together through their love of DJ'ing,  production and music.

Realising the absence of their taste of Groovy, Deep, Underground House & Techno in the city, the group created the brand TETRA to give back to the city of Leeds and beyond.

2023 saw TETRA host & play some unbelievable parties at Leeds' biggest spots including Distrikt Bar Leeds, MiNT Warehouse, MiNT Festival & Sheaf Street.

As always, the boys have high aspirations for 2024. Expect to see a host of DJs from around the country collaborating with the brand to give something back to scene in a unique way.
