This song is unique in that the remix was written before the original was.  Long story short, the original "Cosmic Desserts" was created from some unused sitar and guitar parts I'd done for a tune with my buddies in the band Cosmic Bos.  When I saw they weren't going to use all of it I used the idea and started mixing this version, the more sultry sleazy sounding one.  

When Rekha heard it she came up with the vocal pattern and expressions and wanted to do a more straight lighter hearted version of the tune. So that became the original "Cosmic Desserts" that the great One Blind Mouse dominates the bass guitar on. Then I went back a while later and revived this version and it ended up here.  
Now the vocal track is the exact same one.   If you compare this version with the original you'll hear only the surrounding music changed.   But we were frugal and got 2 songs out of it. And that is how you get your mileage out of a single song idea!

Influenced by the brilliant work (Dark Sitar) of The Pharmaceutical Phaggot, some Sitar in this track. Main stringed is mandolin. TPP refused to transact a ludicrous deal I proposed some weeks ago, by which I offered TPP,  in part exchange for his Sitar, a banjo playing rodent (so far as he knew). Following the collapse of what would have been a transaction to remember, I therefore had to make my own Sitar.... from commonly available household items (mostly stuff found in a drawer marked 'pieces of string too small for use'). Someone So Blue

This song is about my grandfather's recitation of a traditional joke when he would pass a cemetery, he would say, "People are dying to get in there," and how this joke has transcended three generations of my family, with my own kids now reciting the joke. They have added, "....and the wait is killing them." Either way, the song is about how we live on after we die through the loved ones we leave behind. 
The lyrics on the recording are different than these lyrics posted. After I recorded this song, I returned to these lyrics and made changes so I could recite it as poetry. I added more imagery. I so appreciate the musicians and artists who support my work and only hope we can all continue to stay inspired and grow through our art.
