PillowTalk: Music to... Go Back to the Future

We've been big fans of Leftside Wobble's 'Acid Soul' series, so we are delighted to have him put together a mix for us. Here are some words from him regarding his mix for us:

"Leftside Classics is a retrospective featuring some of the tracks that have meant the most to me over the last five years or so. These are the tracks that somehow always find a way back into my sets, tracks that rise above the transient and tracks that defy limiting genre pigeonholes. My sets have always been about joining the dots, celebrating the eclectic and supporting those tracks that exist in the rich hinterland between dub, funk, disco and house. Hopefully this retrospective captures that overriding ethos.

I've included a small selection of unreleased LW bits and a few exclusive versions of well known staples to keep things pushing forward too.

"Trying to capture the feeling of summer in the Northeast is tough, the most concise summation I could muster is, "finally here, it's almost over" because honestly thats how it feels up here. (not to mention that by the time I finally ever do a summer mix, it tends to be almost over). That feeling of fleeting warmth and beauty coupled with my city emptying out every summer (byyyye students!) is what I tried to capture in this mix, and for me this is what it sounds like inside my head when I step out of the house and start walking on those first warm days. It's also my attempt to extend the summer feeling a little longer than the weather usually allows us to. It's a funky little 55 minute trip through some disco, cumbia, funk, afrobeat y mas.
