Mix of the Week (2019)

Following on the popularity of the first Amiga Acid mixtape, here comes volume #2! Armed with just two Amigas and the latest version of my Amiga DJ software, here's almost 40 minutes of some of the best acid tunes available for these computers.

Except for a snafu in the middle (a tune locked up the machine), which I cut, and for some normalizing and fixing the stereo image so your ears don't bleed when using headphones, this is all recorded in one take, 2 Amigas and a DJ mixer, no added effects, no auto sync, absolutely no fucking bullshit.

The Amiga Demoscene Mixtape Vol. 012 (Revision Revisited)

Growing up as a kid, when I wasn't out riding my bike or getting into trouble, my face was glued to the Television watching various educational documentaries. I've always been a visual learner. One thing I love the most about the programs that were aired in the 70's/80's, was the background music. It was warm, it was tense, it was very engaging. Years later, I tried to recapture that feeling, by hunting down records that had the same sound. And then, I discovered Under Water library records. Ever since that moment, I have made it a point to grab every Under Water record I could get my hands on. I also begun to collect Nature documentary LP's. 

Our Beautiful World is a guilty pleasure mix that I have made, combining all of the Under Water and Nature film LP's I have collected over the years. It's made simply for nostalgic purposes. Either you like it, or you pass on it. There's something about drone like synth noises, combined with floating string sections, and bubbly Fender Rhodes that brings me back to eating cereal on the carpet with my favorite spoon. Enjoy!

A couple of weekends back David Barbarossa opened proceedings for the likes of Chic, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Pointer Sisters and several others. It's safe to say that if you've been trusted with such a role then you must have a thing or two going for you behind the booth. The longstanding Glaswegian disc jockey is a bit of a legend in the North, a committed purveyor of the finest funk, soul, disco, house and beyond. If you were to ask a fair proportion of the city as to who was the best on home soil then we'd be prepared to bet that David would come up trumps. From humble, low key roots and late nights in dive bars through to the big stage and acclaim of Moodymann he is what some might call a dj's favourite dj. No pretension, no fuss - just great music.

Mix of the Week #267: Paradise Is a Frequency - Smooth Jazz For Rough Times

Little mixtape I recorded live using my two Amigas (one A1200 and one A600) and custom software in development by me. There's nothing else on this mix, straight from the Amigas to the mixer to your ears! The wonders you can do with 2MB of RAM, huh?

It's made in one live shot except for when  I forgot to put a new track and I had to make a little cut. You'll notice :P Sorry about the mistakes, the software is still a bit temperamental and at times hard to control.
