"Burek" being a favorite snack in Croatia, sparked an idea roughly a decade ago when Mario Kolonic aka Pytzek and his partner Mislav Bobic set similar reputation goals but, this time by releasing music they're so passionate about. Basic idea was to press fat beats and hot electronic club tracks on wax, wrapped in plain white paper and served to music-hungry people all around the world.
Over time two sublabels took off. First "Barba", focused on a wider range of techno and electro music and "Pomalo!", providing slo-mo aural pleasures for adults.
Today, BUREK Music stands for quality house, techno, disco, soul and all the in-between genres of electronic music, produced by artists from all over the world and released on wonderfully sounding and looking vinyl.

I’ve recently been revisiting some of my older mixes. This one was originally put together for the Balearic Social radio show in late summer/early autumn of 2011, but was lost and subsequently never aired. Several records on here where purchased during a particularly fruitful visit to Piccadilly Records and Vinyl Exchange in Manchester, UK. 
It's an eclectic and (at times) surprisingly upbeat mix that captures the early days of Plastic Fantastic and the music we were into at the time.

I know that some of you would think that I must have gone mad to do a disco show…but no worries…Although Van McCoy is best known for his ‘75 mega hit "The Hustle" …prior to becoming disco mega star…. Van McCoy was RnB and Soul artist, musician, producer, arranger, conductor and label owner….with over 700 songs credited to him….going from the 50s all the way to his early-unexpected death in 1979.   

Van McCoy was born in 1940 in Washington, D.C. Today show is celebration of his life and work…. I will play songs from his releases and his collaborations with artists such as Gladys Knight & the Pips, The Stylistics, Aretha Franklin, Brenda & the Tabulations, The Presidents, David Ruffin, Peaches & Herb, Choice 4, Faith Hope and Charity, Melba Moore, and many more... I will focus on his soulful and groovy side…from soul to funk, RnB and disco-funk…so stay tuned and enjoy the show.
