We've been following Pleasure Voyage since a year or so, looking closer every step that the Hungarian duo has done since then. When Attila and Szilard contact us in autumn in order to get released in MM Disco, it was a nice surprise, it was great to see that we've been following each other since long time and our idea about the balearic sound is pretty much the same; its always a pleasure to hear kind words from people you have a lot in common, at least what music refers.

We've decided to dedicate the whole month to them, first by releasing that magic Ep "Sun & Clouds" and also by launching the 9th episode of our MM Casts. We really appreciate how much they like and support MM Discos, featuring until 4 tracks from the label and also introducing artists like Bonnie & Klein or Gold Suite that have or will have releases with us.

and the rest?, well you know??, balearic, downtempo, tropical, bla,bla,bla..just play it on and make yourself feel like if you were in Talamanca, Cala Comte or Salinas, to name a few.

This month we have a stunning guest mix for you from Nick J. Smith aka Lone Saxon! 

Nick has a massive soft spot for all things late eighties ibiza, early 90’s dream house and the ethereal sounds that came with those times. Which is pretty much the inspiration behind any of his Lone Saxon productions or mix.

"When recording mixes, I tend to have to put myself in an imaginary place or situation to get the vibe going within myself. In regards to this recording, I’m in my imaginary DJ booth, back in the day Ibiza/Italy/Rimini. Everyone is dressed glam, shimmering, the 'pink' champs are flowing nicely and excitement is in the air. Soundtracking either by poolside late afternoon, early evening and then getting ready to hit the neon clubs. Or at an afters party when things are beginning to wind down or maybe... people are beginning to get their second wind. Hopefully you'll get that vibe listening to this mix."

This is part of a restored and remastered mix originally recorded one evening at The Sense Bar back in 2011. The Sense Bar was a lounge bar in downtown Oslo, known for its intimate atmosphere, superb cocktails and fantastic sound system (a Funktion-One setup if I remember correctly). I had the pleasure of playing at this cosy venue on several occasions during a particularly busy live schedule around 2010-2011. Sadly, The Sense Bar closed its doors in 2015. Hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane. JC

For our latest mix, we have called on the Acid House Veteran, Techno Survivor, Beard Scientist and Freelance Disco Consultant, Sean Johnston (https://soundcloud.com/hardwaybros), to end the year on a high.

Sean’s DJ’ing style described by https://soundcloud.com/factmag as “Future Disco” is hard to pin down to one convenient genre, taking in house, disco, re-edits, techno and frankly anything else that takes his fancy.

Alongside https://soundcloud.com/andrew-weatherall he runs and DJ’s at A Love From Outer Space. The night’s manifesto is to never knowingly exceed 122bpm and is home to a multitude of genres including ambient, balearica, dub, krautrock, post punk, proto house, un-disco and other curiosities from the pair’s extensive record collections.

“Here’s a classic form that has been abused, lived in, faded, worn thin, patched up and yet is totally unique. It’s my take on disco, but the description could equally apply to a great pair of jeans….”
