The Familiar’s musikklandskaper er magiske og nye, intime og frodige, koblet sammen med pop-hooks skapt uten at de to noen gang jobber i samme rom.

With a haunting cover of Hozier’s “Take Me To Church”, and a stellar debut EP Rooms most recently pacing the pair’s current ascension into alt-pop circles the world over; The Familiar’s latest single “Patience” dives into more personal territory. Mirsky weaves a vocal-central aesthetic through a plea for patience to her lover over Martinsen’s pulsating, synth-driven beat and rhythmic, foggy pop hooks for a tune that swallowed us up from our first listen. The Familiar’s deft yet subtle use of rolling staccato synths played off a lush set of vocal reverberations also has us drawing up comparisons from the gloomiest of Kavinsky tunes to College’s wonderful Heritage LP and even a touch of Johnny Jewel laden synthetica. And in case you weren’t aware, those are all very lofty associations. Hop on The Familiar wagon with “Patience” before literally anyone else on behalf of a TMN premiere.

Too young to be Inspired by the vintage sound of Alphaville, Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, Desireless and Bronski Beat they have taken their love for 80's sound into the 21st century with a mix of dark electro, synthwave and retrowave.
Their sexy image and polished sound makes them a promising act to follow and their latest EP 'Forbidden Love' comes with killing remixes by LYKOV, CVPELLV (@capedzillah) and Martiln.

Wunderbar & Zig Zag EP comprised of 2 originals and 4 remixes, is set to be released on the Hold Your Ground label on April 9th.

Off the back of their hot success from their previous EP Dominator, esteemed Bavarian producer Kalipo and the renowned Greco-German duo Local Suicide continue their pioneering collaboration by bringing us another impressive EP; turning them into something of a force to be reckoned with. After promising a year full of new material and intriguing remixes, the Berlin-based artists have done nothing but deliver a trail-blazing collaboration.

Releasing music conceived and designed for the club, Hold Your Ground, the sublabel to Audiolith, has nurtured the perfect storm for the fusion between Kalipo’s hypnotic and Local Suicide’s post-disco approach to the techno sound. With striking synths that cover a spectrum of notes and bringing back those distinct and seductive vocals that remind us of Dominator, their collaboration on both Wunderbar and Zig Zag manages to cleverly sync both their styles of production together and demonstrate their take on the new-wave, EBM movement.
