Robert Rich & Lustmord Synergistic Perceptions

Shared System Patch. Modules used: Erbe-Verb, DPO, Echophon, Rene, Pressure Points, Optomix, Phonogene. I chose not to use a Maths or Wogglebug. I really wanted everything to be under direct control.

The Phonogene contained a previous Shared System sound. Its End of Slice output was patched to both an Optomix strike (with Phonogene's output as input), and the Rene's X-Clk input. Rene's output was changing the organization of the Phonogene.

Various points were manually controlled by Pressure Points. Channel 2 of the Optomix was a DPO drone. Optomix out->Echophon->Erbe-Verb->Stereo Out.

Shared System Patch: Dependence

A live performance for the Make Noise Shared System series. Primary plunk sound is a DPO run through an Optomix. Maths triggers the Optomix in a semi-irregular way. The sound is run through an Echophon, with the feedback out into an Erbe-Verb. The Erbe-Verb channel one is plugged into a Phonogene in "Broken Echo" mode, which is output into the Echophon Feedback input. The Erbe-Verb stereo outputs are the primary outs for this piece.

Shared System Patch: Late Bloomer

The evil twin to "Late Bloomer". It's the same patch, but with heavier FM settings and larger modulations. Recorded live with no overdubs and no post-processing.

Just a simple demo to show how to turn the Erbe-Verb into a glass-like percussion machine via feedback.

Shared System Patch: M1-M2

Pilgrims’ trails leading you on through woodland and thicket towards ancient temples. The softness of the temple mosses and a thousand hues of green. Osaka: the hustle and bustle of a Japanese city offering an overwhelming abundance. For all my walking is the title of the Kyoto sound diaries, with music and words composed by pianist Ulrike Haage and percussionist Eric Schaefer during their three-month stay in Japan. The work is named after, indeed inspired by, a Santoka Taneda haiku with its reference to the search for meaning through pilgrimage.

~ About The Story ~

After a long autumn walk out of Berlin in the Brandenburg Forest and Spree River at Plaenterwald (which has an old abandoned amusement park) I went back home and basically continued my autumn journey with selecting music for a mix. I tried to create an atmosphere and images of for autumn, I worked quite long on the music selection to really paint the picture and tell the story I wanted to achieve and then recorded the mix in Ableton with a delay and reverb and most tracks I also slightly edited. From rainy textures, falling leaves, sunny days to cloudy and windy atmospheres. I chose a poem to go accompany the mix.

This is a demo of Telharmonic's ASR Mode. The "Degree" input is sequenced by a Korg SQ-1. The D-GATE input is triggered at a separate tempo by Maths. DPO's Final output is used as the Telharmonic's FM input. The other Maths channel slowly modulates the Fold amount on the DPO, which is also tweaked by hand.

Bobby Krlic approaches music and composition from a place of primal perception. Performing under the name "The Haxan Cloak", Krlic crafts haunting soundscapes by harnessing the power of shifting air molecules into brooding, undulating waveshapes.

Shortly after co-producing Goldfrapp’s "Silver Eye", the British synth mystic takes to his Los Angeles home studio to weave new aural patterns into a track called “Transposition #4”.

Transposition #4 | The Haxan Cloak

Richard uses only the Echophon to process the Roland TR-606 drum machine. All sound bites use same drum pattern. No DAW computer editing or processing is employed. The sounds are created by modulating the Echophon.

The Echophon is the result of a collaboration between Tom Erbe (Soundhack) and Make Noise. The module utilizes Erbe's gorgeous DSP algorithms on hardware developed by Make Noise.
The Echophon flips the script on the 20 year trend of software synthesis emulating classic analog hardware putting the powers of a true DSP coding genius into the analog modular synthesizer.

This is a new module that is still in development here at Make Noise. We are showing a prototype at NAMM Hall E booth 1270.

The module utilizes a type of synthesis that has never been placed under voltage control.
