The disco bug is the one that comes out & shines to the fabulous. It started off in New York then spread all over the world & now from Sydney, Australia the 2nd installment of Night Disco is upon us.

It’s been a little while since we’ve released music on Grits N Gravy. We’ve not been idle, far from it. We’ve been biding our time & waiting. Waiting for the time the discos are open & the people are once again dancing. So with disco dancing in mind Grits N Gravy label co-boss D-Funk bring you 3 upbeat slices of 21st century original disco music.

The mean machine - the non stop beat making, funky music lover, Funky Destination is back with a new release! Once he's got the inspiration Funky Destination keeps producing and presenting his unique and funky music attitude to his fans! 

Feeling Fly is his new release - and it gives us just what the title promises! Five super funky, super groovy tracks that makes us feel fly! 

Opening track 'Feeling Fly' is a fat funky based tune with a fine break beat drums and warm gospel like lyrics encasing the deal! As always wicked baselines and playful horns setting the mood! The second track 'Let the Spirit heal' keeps up the same funky atmosphere, this time with the contribution of a second set of gospel and soul style vocals! 

'So Damn Funky' is a wonderful mix of pure funk style beats, baseline and rhythms - groovy to the bone. 'Walking Together' is a classic funk bomb - energetic, deep soulful sax vibes and groovy beats! Last but not least 'Flashback (Louie's Kitchen)' wraps up the release with a splash of funk, just enough to start unwinding after this upbeat super downtempo groove trip! 

All in all, once again, Funky Destination takes us onto a musical fantasy under his unique signature style production, mighty & glorious funk!

Packed with vintage samples from London's 1920s swing scene and iconic Film Noir vocals, Lemonade is a glitchy lo-fi beat that's filled with rare Big Band loops that are blended with authentic Boom-Bap drums, MPC style. 

Next up is Back in '89, a swingy nod to the Golden Era of Hip Hop that's as atmospheric as it is catchy, with a stuttered sample, neck-breaking head-nod rhythm, and a warm low-end that's just right.

And I'm back! This time with a shiny new swing-hop tune released by none other than the legendary Ragtime Records. 

This project came about when we were all locking down from that killer plague just a few years ago. With time on my hands, I learned how to use the MPC I'd been neglecting, listened to a lot of Jazz, and got quite into Film Noir, especially The Big Sleep. All of that boiled down to this release, especially Lemonade. Not that the vocal has anything to do with that, I've just always loved the lyric. 'Lemonade was a popular drink, and it still is' - wise words, if I've ever heard any.

Extra Medium is a Bristol born producer that has been taking on the influences of the city’s underground music scene and fusing it with Jazz music.  His love for Jazz and obscure sampling has led him to fuse the rolling sounds of drum and bass and the big shuffling energy of UK Garage, creating a unique and big take on bass driven dance music.
 
MARIA is best known as the front lady from the Dutty Moonshine Big Band and the "Jazz In You" shows off her full range.
