"Just over a year ago, Glaswegian party-starters Shaka Loves You joined forces with festival-friendly funk breaks imprint Goodgroove to launch the Disco Series. This belated follow-up is as on-point as its predecessor and contains four-more chunks of fun-time, disco influenced workouts smothered in live instrumentation. We're particularly enjoying the hard-wired funk guitars, rising horns and insatiable vocals of "Dance, Dance, Dance", though throaty edit-not-edit "Ridin' High" - all hard-wired synth bass, shuffling house beats and P-funk flourishes - is also superb. The bouncy, dance-until-you-drop craziness of "In My Soul" (a largely instrumental edit of a well loved early '80s disco smasher) and jaunty opener "My Love" complete a fine package.”

The Impellers - I Predict A Riot

San Fransisco late 1960, two of the biggest groups to emerge from this scene were Santana and Sly and The Family Stone. For a while they were two of the biggest acts in the US and scores of local bands tried to follow in their footsteps. They were hard acts to follow and very few got to the stage of making a 45, never mind a whole LP.

One of the best to do just that were Leon’s Creation, whose debut LP “This Is The Beginning” Acid Jazz are reissuing here. A native of San Francisco Leon Patillo led the group, whose multi racial line-up echoed that of his heroes on the local scene. Self contained and gigging locally they made their debut album at the tiny Studio 10 who also custom pressed the album in extremely limited numbers

Released on Acid Jazz licensed directly from Leon Patillo, the package comes with in depth sleeve notes and is beautifully illustrated in both LP and CD formats. Release 09/03/2018

BT - You Can't Have Your Cake And Eat It Too (Pete Le Freq Refreq)

The Impellers first full album 'Robot Legs' was released on UK independent label Freestyle Records. Since its release in 2009, the band have been busy touring across the UK, Netherlands, Spain, France and elsewhere.  They have shared stages with some of the finest funk, soul, hip-hop, jazz and scratch DJ talent from around the world.  Their ever-expanding CV includes shows with Marva Whitney, Breakestra, James Taylor Quartet, The Bamboos, Lack of Afro, Kid Koala, Hexstatic, Mr Thing (The Scratch Perverts), DJ Bizznizz (UK DMC Championships winner), DJ Vadim, Speedometer, Polar Bear, Part Time Heroes and The Nextmen.  The band also played live sessions on the BBC in the UK and were recruited by renowned DJ and promoter Adrian Gibson to play a live mix of tracks from the seminal 'Ultimate Breaks & Beats' records - 55 classic breaks in a killer hour-and-a-half live set!!
