The first time you go into the main menu from the title screen, you're met with something extremely similar to Deltarune's character/vessel creator. Once the outcome of this becomes more relevant, I'll talk about this in more detail.

The song itself builds up as you progress through the character creator. The mysterious voice asks you about its name, about the kind of hairstyle, body and legs you'd like to give it.

After some time walking through the hot, hot desert, Kris encounters a pair of skeleton-folk squabbling amongst themselves about who knows what. Probably puzzles. It doesn't take long for the tall, handsome skeleton to notice Kris and immediately point it out to his compatriot. The two continue to bicker over the fact that the human is there and that the shorter one isn't appropriately dressed for the situation that's taken place.

The taller one apologizes for his lack of manners and immediately begins to welcome Kris and introduce himself (and his brother) to them.

During Kris' battle against Sans, one of their ACT options is to flirt with him. While they stumble through the entire thing -- primarily just extremely awkward about flirting with someone with more braincells than a Moldsmal -- Sans accepts the flirting and offers to take them out to dinner. 

This date can also be initiated under more platonic pretenses after the fight, but if prompted in-battle it leads to some small dialogue differences.

The date itself, whether "romantic" or platonic, primarily consists of the aforementioned dinner, hosted at Sans and Papyrus' house, with Papyrus acting as the waiter and chef.
