Ivy Lab - Sunday Crunk (Mefjus Remix)

Gas in the tank, beers in the trunk, boys in the van; Honey Soundsystem is back on the road. After a dormant period, the four-man San Fran collective is restarting the namesake label in a few weeks with for a simultaneous double-release – the kind of hubris not seen since Use Your Illusion I / II.

But why not? They rule their own back yard, sharing many a bill with likeminded local don Solar, and on the evidence of Bézier's "皆" ('everyone' to you and I) have clear production chops to match. This nightdriving track is sultry, scintillating, scorching – whatever signifier you prefer, it's great.

"I sought to commission key artwork from Oscar-nominated and New York Times best-selling artist, Tomer Hanuka. Because he is one of the best artists alive. The brief came with an objective to capture the lysergic and lethal language from FATHER's original "You're Not Boring Anymore" manscript. A presence of a character that is de-real. A vision of a brain rending, hallucinogenic fear resting beneath a halcyonic membrane of absurd, unearned tranquillity and calm. So quiet, in fact, that everything quakes. I’m going to phone a research institute or a fucking aeronautical laboratory and mash dial tones at anyone receiving me, it’s me, I’m here, telephone tones, beep boop MTV, Steven fucking Aoki, the guitarist from 7•11 and hjnnjhh 3️⃣3️⃣🔟🔟🔢🔟⏏️⏺

Norway’s finest purveyors of off-kilter, crystalline pop, Soft as Snow aka Oda Egjar Starheim and Øystein Monsen, are back with a brand new release. The 4-track ‘Chrysalis’ EP is the duo’s second original release, following their 2014 debut - the ‘Glass Body’ EP, which was also issued as 'Glass Body Remixed', a striking collection of reworked versions by Lucy, Gabe Gurnsey of Factory Floor, Maria Minerva and Brian DeGraw of Gang Gang Dance.

Opening track ‘I Adore’ is characterized by abrasive synths and shimmering inflections, while ‘Fluid’ builds from glassy restraint to a synth freak-out. ‘Mouth’ is a menacing statement of intent, all tribal percussion and primal yelps, calling to mind the unsettling production of Mica Levi’s soundtrack for ‘Under The Skin’. The EP draws to a close with the energetic, skittering ‘Her Blood Is Gold’, with Oda’s strange, otherworldly vocal binding it all together.

The release was mixed in LA by Timothy Wiles, whose engineering credits as Q include Factory Floor and Liars, whilst his production career as Überzone stretches back to the USA’s mid-90s rave boom. The 12” is pressed to hot pink vinyl and housed in a high-gloss sleeve with artwork by Kytten Janae, in a limited run of 500 copies.

Since 2014’s ‘False Light’, Jon has continued to headline shows around the world, while constantly producing new material to test in his live sets. Always evolving whilst remaining true to his singular vision for techno, this trained percussionist and skilled drummer once again confounds expectation with his latest opus.

When all the tracks here are added together into one musical experience, it makes for a fluid, expertly programmed ride that takes you somewhere new and exciting, as is always the case with the one and only Gaiser.

Elitechnique. Bordello A Parigi. Finally! Right? The Rotterdam duo arrive in Amsterdam with two cuts of groove dipped electro disco. “Disco D’Azur” starts as it means to go on. Juddering bass and crystalline synth lines open into astral avenues, chords cascade and flow before they build into triumphant highs. The flip keeps the party fires burning. “Riva Riviera” takes its cue from “Disco D’Azur”, bold and broad bars with clean percussion with just a touch more mirrorball romance. Keys intertwine, embrace and twirl away as Elitechnique lead you from dusk to dawn.

The rocket travelled hastily through the midnight sky. Racing towards it's destination it must ensure that it was not traced by opposition radar, who knew that a mere tin can could maintain such responsibility? Faster than the speed of light, the frame of the shell glimmered under the glow of the starlight from up above. Soon to cause havoc and prosperity for nations divided by sea, it must not miss. 

Kess Kill is the brainchild of Rivet, to date it has released an array of off centre post punk and electronics. However, now the label draws upon the musical intuition of Swedish duo Grand Mal x.

The code was statistically problematic and prone to dangerous manipulation. As he toyed with the whirring machine he padded the buttons relentlessly: eight, zero, six, nine. He took a deep breath and tried once more, eight, zero, six, nine. He was beginning to lose his patience with the jilted machinery and soon he may well very have to do the unthinkable. Vandalism was not in his nature but a violent rage and a ticking clock had the capacity to change everything. 

400PPM is the moniker of the widely acclaimed, New York based producer, Shawn O'Sullivan. His new album on Avian sees him draw upon machine led inspiration.

The climate within the glasshouse was murky and warm. The heat poured prominently through the long windows as the plants soared elegantly into the sunshine up above. On level ten, an environment was blossoming, one left untouched by man and machine. In this place nature would thrive and flourish for generations to come as the chimes echoed in the hollow space. 

Munro is set to release a new two track EP on XVI Records. Two truly wicked tracks packed with summer enthusiasm and vibes a plenty.

The capital was awash with beautiful people. They danced elegantly under the pale glow of the moon as the framework of great buildings loomed spectacularly overhead. In the distance the cries of the new year could be heard echoing through the park and she gazed out towards the exotic sprawl before her. The balcony was getting cold as the light continued to fade, but she feared little for the chill. She was warm at home now. 

Pont Neuf is a French record label operating out of the capital. They are set to release a new EP from Tour-Maurbourg in the coming weeks.

The keys melodically chimed in the empty church hall. In the corner of the suty room was a man composing a perfect harmony upon a delicate piano. He plucked and prodded the instrument so intricately it were as if he were a part of the very notes himself. The light hung low outside as he closed the old wooden doors behind him and walked into the open courtyard. People were gathered by coffee shops and bars, merrily passing the time as the day fell to a close. 

Komon & Will Saul collaborate on the much loved Aus Music record label, owned by Saul himself. The pair also bring in the big guns on remix duties with Nick Hoppner and Juju & Jordash stepping up.
