John Talabot and Axel Boman teamed up in 2017 for their R&S debut ’The Night Land’ where they got to flex their creative muscles over eight tracks of rich synth jams.  

The two electronic artists have been independently successful in their respective careers, but as Pitchfork expressed in their glowing review “Their collective output doesn’t sound much like either’s work; it doesn’t even necessarily reflect the thin, convex sliver where their interests overlap. Instead, they’ve hit upon something new.”

This new sound also proved to be a hit with the likes of Mojo, Phonica, XLR8R, Self Titled and DJ Mag all including it their annual best of lists.

The artists have now handpicked four artists to create their own vision of the Talaboman sound.  
Superpitcher, Samo DJ, Luke Slater under his L.B. Dub Corp alias and Powder have all seriously delivered the goods.

Rising star Cody Currie’s first solo EP on House of Disco Records is here at last and it does not disappoint!

Four slices of scintillating, disco-tinged house, heavy on the modulating synths and dynamic basslines, tied together with soulful samples and crisp percussion.

At times you can hear influences of Todd Terje, at others there’s hints of Max Graef and Glenn Astro - yet all with that special Cody Currie flavour, containing an energy, assurance and intrigue that’s cementing him as one of the most exciting young producers around.

@DemiRiquisimo is returning to his in-house imprint, Semi Delicious, with his second EP and ready to pick up where he left off with the aptly titled ‘Mysterious EP’, dropping today (3rd May 2019). The only vinyl release imprint saw his first EP lock in huge support from names like Optimo, Rex The Dog, Horse Meat Disco, Theo Kottis, Skream, Loods, Auntie Flo, Simian Mobile Disco and Tensnake, and even a coveted premiere on BBC Radio 1 by Pete Tong himself, while this one did not fail to get the attention of the infamous BBC1 “Danny Howard” claiming that he knew little about Demi but quite literally he would have played all the four tracks after receiving this EP in his inbox.

Opening with Pa De Chevaux, the chugging Bootsy Collins-style topline bass works in harmony with the vocal sample to create something so deliciously funky that you’ll still be moving long after the track ends. Fans of A Lifetime On The Hips are in for a treat on A2 as Certified revives the former’s stomping 4/4 kick and delivers one of the naughtiest modulated acid-arp basslines to ever grace the dancefloor. Enter lush chords, dreamy vocal sampling and wonderfully pacey hi-hats, and you’ve got one of the EP’s strongest tracks.

On the B-side, the quality doesn’t let up and you’re reminded that each track could easily be the lead. The title track, Mysterious, is a clear follow-up to Sarong Song with the perfect combination of acid basslines, 808 kicks and an array of live strings, organs, and horns mixed in to pack plenty of punch. Tagine Machine leads with an afro-centric percussive intro before delving into the depths of tough, synth-laden electro-disco. Inspired by a trip to Morocco and the sights and sounds that the souks of Marrakesh are filled with, Tagine Machine reflects the breadth of Demi’s musical inspiration. Bringing together elements of acid, disco, house and everything in-between, Demi Riquísimo once again demonstrates why he’s quickly becoming one of the most exciting talents on the scene.

The Berlin based duo drops some heavy bass lines with storyline synths on the A1 Floppy, taking you to a time when you were high on the dance floor; your eyes closed, the lights still shining through your lids. The bells ring in angelic exasty rounding off the title track to be a sure instant classic named after their party series Floppy Drive. The EP embodies 90’s dance culture. Marlon Hoffstadt pumps up the drive and adds the depth that only a seasoned raver could reference, making you feel like a Sonic the hedgehog speed walk.

In the midst of the darkness there was little to see but for the flickering shapes of shadows and hollow objects. The sun would rise again in several hours but for now the earth had settled beneath the milky glow of the moonlight and the people of the planet revelled beneath the cloak of black. Tall trees blew softly in the wind, evergreen and dense they offered little in the way of support or guidance - each part of the dense. dark forest looked just the same and as eerie as ever. An owl whistled softly upon the rolling wind. 

Compass are a duo with a bright and promising future, they are slowly but surely about to release a collection of tracks online which caught our attention and offer promise on the dancefloor. Energetic and melodic, very danceable.
