Like the beginning of any dream, my subconscious fills in the gaps. “Where am I?”… I’m on the moon. “How did I get here?”… I’ve always been here. My dialogue subsides as an uncertain planet enters centre vision. A ‘chinese-whispers' Earth, with geographic features lost as rumour spreads through the cosmos. Though the solar path is obscured, I see no sign of darkness on the planet, only faint projections of unanswered questions and manifestations of doubt. As the projections focus, and words become more visceral, I turn away and walk towards the Sun.

With five years of releases under their belt, London’s DEXT Recordings are legendary curators of some of the most forward-thinking electronic music the UK has to offer. To celebrate the milestone, they’ve delivered 'eleVAte Vol. 1’, a 4-track compilation featuring some of their heaviest hitters. Track by track, the release is steeped in a dynamic spread of UK sounds, with plenty of bass weight and life-affirming synths added for good measure. Our pick, ’Eclipse’ by Pugilist is a skippy ode to the garage days of yonder, brimming with swing, bass and lush Rhodes stabs.

Masked with a metal face, draped in copper. Moving like us, but different. Trying to work out the world for itself, but is this just a world that works for us? Different when experiencing emotions and connections, less free for those we created in a way we’ll never truly understand, no matter how advanced we become over time. Even though we're clanging around hopelessly, trying to find a grasp is something that we all can relate to.

Keplrr returns with his second release, Reconstructed Club, on Control Freak Recordings, the sister label of the infamous London party, Cabin Fever. Like his debut EP Translucent, his sophomore release showcases a similar aesthetic, taking inspiration from UK techno and flaunting his knack for meticulous sound design. Our pick titled ‘Bods Realm’ takes a deep drive through spaced-out effects and harsh Warp-esque synth stabs, skilfully complemented with weighty sub-bass.

When Stephen Hindman (one half of synth duo The Golden Filter) wrote their new solo album under the guise of Isolating last year, they didn't know the name would take on a whole new meaning in 2020. Like their debut EP System on Optimo Music in May, their new outing was written whilst reading Aldous Huxley books, with one text in particular 'Perennial Philosophy', explicitly influencing the release in both the name and output.

The 11 tracks across Perennial, shift through gritty, dystopian sonics all underpinned by an unsettling and brooding anxiety, which mirrors the concept behind Huxley's book: tackling the perspective in spirituality that views all of the world's religions as sharing a single, metaphysical origin.

King Of Kong offer up a fourteen track various artists compilation entitled ‘Interlocal’ featuring the likes of Private Press, Das Komplex, Newborn Jr, label boss Anton Klint and many more.

King Of Kong, the up-and-coming label run by Artur8, Anton Klint and Edvin Edvinson of Tryck&Ton already caused quite a stir with its first few vinyl outings, combining talents of Newborn Jr., Das Komplex, Eric Duncan and, most recently, a collaboration between Wolfram and DJ Hell.

“Interlocal” is a forthcoming compilation of 14 new and exclusive pieces from friends, colleagues and affiliates from cities, big and small,  all around the world. With its daringly eclectic selection, this exclusive release serves as a perfect example of King Of Kong explorations of contemporary dance music in its broadest sense, from murky “pop” songs to warehouse tools, with everything that comes in between.

The journey starts with “Angeldust Incl.”, a special track that combines lyrics from the prolific German filmmaker Klaus Lemke with mesmerising ska-meets-cabaret-at-the-disco music produced by Munich based Jonas Imbery/Telonius, founder of Gomma Records, and sang by Jonas’s daughter, accompanied by a deep and dreamy remix from Warsaw’s Lutto Lento, a prominent and unpredictable figure  among today’s experimental, post-techno producers

Na bieżnię” by Warsaw based Private Press is quite unusual for this producer duo, known primarily for solid Detroit/Basic Channel inspired club tools on Rekids. Breaking with this legacy, “Na bieżnię” features a slow, syncopated rhythm, electric static and snippets of shamanic voices that result in something between futuristic bass music and primeval ritual.

The Clap Track” by Warsaw’s Newborn Jr goes for the full-on euphoric mode with its endless build-up full of syncopated hi-hats, piano licks and general hands-in-the-air attitude whilst King Of Kong’s own, Gothenburg based Anton Klint, whose ‘Hi Man’ is a chugging track which is also remixed by New York legend Mike Simonetti in his classic, irresistible and 100% effective warehouse style, with a discreet acid bassline and timeless speech samples.

This is a competent outlook of today’s global leftfield music scene, and certainly a soundtrack to many (brain) dance moves and trips in the forthcoming season.

The padlock had rusted beyond repair, they'd tried everything but it couldn't be unlocked. As time went on and different tools and gadgets had failed their duty, curiosity began to build. Nobody knew what lay inside the vault, perhaps there was nothing at all, but for now they'd let their imagination run wild with dreams of forgotten treasure and piles of gold coins.

To kick off their newly founded label arm, Brighton-based party starters Accidental Meetings have called on friends and family, including those who've played their parties, for a huge compilation that touches on the sounds that will remain central to the label going forwards. Spawned from the restlessness that came with a year of no events and a pledge to keep themselves busy, the AM guys have pulled together 21 tracks that journey from electro to glitchy breaks, dancehall and broken techno, enlisting the skills of Chungo, Charles Green, Alexis, DJ Tess, ZaaZaa and Kincaid, to name but a few.

Hypnotecho’O is Pho Bho’s second release made and arranged by Matteo Coffetti, the label’s co-founder along with Federico Spini.

The record’s distinctive feature is its original fusion between ethnic samples beaten by violent kicks and sharp snares from the rawest techno. What it generates it’s a unique rhythm-flow ideal for the dancefloor.

The collaboration with Filippo Zenna is the result of the two artist’s anxieties and fears over a past that is no longer here and a tomorrow that strives to come.
