After having invited, a few months ago, eight of the best producers France currently has to offer, La Forge now temporarily steps away from the ‘Crysta Ampullaris’ series for a more radiant and solar output. ‘Crysta Ensolaris’ is fueled by the optimism inspired by the perspective of soon getting back on the dancefloor, after more than a year of privation : this sheer need to reunite and come together, be it day or night, during these sweet moments of daydream that we’ve all been missing so much.
Back to an EP formula, our core main producers (Nigm, Slowglide, Lebird, Shonen Bat & Ayuji) gratify us with five tracks full of U.V. vibes. Soothing introduction ‘Ephemeral’, by Nigm, is an introspective downtempo nugget, not unlike a mystical journey under a zenith sun, with its load of sonic mirages and illusion. Then Slowglide turns the acid up, layering breakbeats into the incantatory ‘Solstice’, a big-beat-infused psychedelic track perfectly designed to launch a neo-pagan rave.
Suddenly, here comes the eclipse. Lebird’s ‘Adonia’, a high-energy electro banger, takes us to one of those sweltering nights when bodies undulate and collide, breathless as the kick drum hits. Then, wild kid Shonen Bat propels us towards a gigantic solarpunk rave in zero gravity with ‘Planet Serotonia’, a hybrid, alien-sounding track somewhere between breakbeat house & high-protein UK hardcore. Finally, Ayuji puts a finishing touch to this fantastic trip with ‘Heliopolis’, a swift, solar house gem mingling Detroit techno influences with some trance elements. Like an ultimate rush of dopamine at sunrise, just before the party draws to a close.

Dream-E is a Glaswegian producer and DJ based in Berlin. Last year he was diagnosed with a very rare but severe brain infection called Encephalitis. He is still in recovery but has since started a label to release his own music with funds raised from the releases going towards The Encephalitis Society Charity - an organisation that helps those and their families less fortunate than he.

La Forge Musique thrilled to announce the release of it's resident Shonen Bat’s first album. Following his involvement in label compilations and a few brief incursions across the Channel for thier friends at Corrupt Data (see his EP “Shades of Disruption”) and GODDEZZ (see V/A “ON+ON+ON”), the 28-year-old producer from Reims eventually reaches the mark of the long-form, with flying colours indeed. In “Infinite Disorder”, he deftly conjugates techno influences, breakbeat, global club and electro with his distinctive rhythmic signature as well as outstanding futuristic aesthetic.
In twelve tracks, Shonen Bat demonstrates perfect mastery of sound design and narration in a fifty-minute opus with strains of solar punk, which resonates both on the dancefloor and your couch. An intertwinement of celestial voices, luxuriating pads and synthetic waterfalls with sharp beats and distorted bass precedes moments when the producer playfully stretches time with more ambient phases, before going for it again.
Among the top-flight tracks, you will find an ethereal anthem in “Artefacts”, speedy techno in “Western Nylon Fields”, and feisty breakbeats in “Automata”.
In this emotional roller coaster, the album constantly takes us back and forth between melancholy and euphory. Despite this duality symptomatic of our times, “Infinite Disorder” is undeniably a record of boundless optimism, at times bitter but always radiant. Take it as a kind of journal of a young raver who’s found his way through the philosophical values of a global rave culture, without borders, and humanistic.

PREMIERE | Shonen Bat - Sayonara [La Forge] 2021

On the Polish-Belarusian border there is a humanitarian crisis unfolding. For the last few months hundreds of refugees have come from the Middle East, South Asia, and northern and middle Africa to seek international protection, but Polish troops and Belarusian border patrol are chasing them from one side to the other, breaching the law and resulting in the deaths of several people. 

In response to this urgent situation, Polish collective Oramics have rallied together Polish and international artists including the likes of Octo Octa, Loraine James, Casiopepe, Avtomat and Liar for a compilation to raise money for Rescue Foundation, who have been helping the migrants on the frontline since day one, and help to facilitate easier access to a new life in an unknown country.

Oramics statement about the situation at the border continues: "Polish organizations supporting foreigners have been involved in aiding the people on the border from the very beginning of the current crisis. They were communicating with them over loudspeakers while the border troops were not allowing for any humanitarian or medical aid to reach the refugees, denying them even food or freshwater. On 3 September the Polish government decided to implement a state of emergency in the cross-border areas, which has not been done since 1981 when martial law was introduced in Poland. What it means in practice is a drastic clampdown on the aid organizations and their access to the cross-border areas as well as fewer journalists who could document the situation on-site. The people on the border have been left without any help from the outside. No one controls the actions of the authorities anymore."

PREMIERE: Liar - Immigrant Trax [Oramics]

Tomas Ruiz, aka RUSSELL, is a self-made electronic music artist that has been active in Santiago de Chile since 2014. RUSSELL's multi-tasking role in helping launch the Cazeria Cazador (CZCZ) label was a big step for his career in the role of public relations, producer and DJ. The collectives cultural impact in its native Chile since forming in 2015 was significant. They subvert the conservative attitudes dominating their homeland, fighting against artistic stagnation with illegal underground parties in Santiago's abandoned buildings and forward-thinking releases that channel a melting pot of influences. RUSSELL burst into broader consciousness in 2017, gaining attention on the international stage supporting renowned artists such as Nicolás Jaar, J.Albert, Tomas Urquieta, DJs Pareja and releasing a series of albums and collaborations with various Chilean artists and labels over the past two years. He now joins up with the enthralling Swiss-based label, LBR Records, whose mission is to contribute to electronic music producers' artistic, technical and promotional development. 'Sombras' is an eight-piece album full of broken electronic textures and emotions. The album's sound shows a unique touch, emotional pads, and breakbeats critical elements. RUSSELL shows us a futuristic proposal in the moment of releasing new material with no boundaries of sound. This release is a perfect example of his artistic vision, with a mixture of experimental electro sounds and thumping techno rhythms that carry a rare sense of frisky fluidity.

Following a short break, Virtual Forest Records are back with a 6-track EP by Fluid Matter, one of the three label founders.
Located on the more bassy side of their universe, Fluid Matter operates here between territories of leftfield bass, post-dubstep, and electro with hints of techno and UK Funky. A release definitely darker than most, deeply rooted in club aesthetics and dedicated to showing specks of light shining in the murkiest night.
Stepping into thicker fog and bringing breakbeats along for the ride, Slug On My Chair uses interwoven patterns of delayed percussions to maximum effect, until glitched angelic pads pierce the clouds with bittersweet laments. Acid basses and repurposed 2-step rhythmic vestiges anchor the whole track to the dancefloor and will be sure
to convince any 130 bpm bass music enjoyers.
