Taking the reins for Tread's debut release is the unique Guava, whose previous releases on labels such as R&S and Holding Hands have made him one of the big names to watch in the left-field electronic world. Collaborating on the release are two of London’s finest session guitarists, Alex Blake and Leo Abrahams. Their impressive CVs include work with artists such as Jon Hopkins and Skepta, respectively.

Things open up with ‘In Cloud’, a blissed-out slab of broken techno, spaced out with guitar riffs played by Blake. Both ‘Libelle’ and ‘Equinox Meaning’ continue on this theme with a cut of bass weight, with more silky guitar performed by Abrahams on the latter. Dublin-based Sputnik One is on remix duties, turning ‘Libelle’ into a beefed-up club weapon fit for any sound system.

‘First Word’ boasts a classic LeftLeft style beat, with sub-heavy kicks leading the charge, while a playful melody weaves in and out, and squelches and squeaks litter the track giving an uncanny, esoteric feel.

Tunlaw Rd in DC was named after Tunlaw Farm which was located in what is now Glover Park. According to local legend during the Civil War many walnut trees were cut in that area to make gunstocks. To make the name more exotic Walnut was reversed into Tunlaw.

Track description 'excess return to the fray with the sophomore instalment of their charity VA series -ANY BPM. The record delivers upon the excess mantra & assembles bassy cuts of every flavour, across a glistening tracklist featuring nineteen unique producers from across the globe. The project was undertaken in support of Fareshare, a UK based charity that combats food poverty across the country.
In our time of spiralling inflation, the burgeoning cost of living crisis has made food poverty a daunting reality for so many. excess will donate all profits from the sales of this project to Fareshare, to make what difference we can to those in need during a time of unprecedented difficulty.

Contributing to this cause are a host of exciting artists, across a wide spectrum of underground bass music genres. Moving from ambient 2-step and bouncy UK funky rhythms, to raucous 4x4 grime and turbo jungle, this record navigates every corner of the bass music landscape, without stopping to take a breath. @naco returns to Scuffed Recordings with a masterclass in mind-bending breaks and percussion.

The Kyoto-based producer first released with Scuffed in 2018 with his 2026 EP, which picked up support from the likes of Skream, HAAi, and Kettama among others.

With a slew of releases on his own 85acid imprint, Naco has established a sound that draws extensively from the club music spectrum - breaks, techno, house, jungle - but with a warped approach that sets his releases out from the crowd.

Now returning with his 'Noian' EP, Naco brings three new high-energy tracks to Scuffed - each of them deceptively simple in their approach but striking in their effect.

Little to nothing happened in this part of the world; even the tiniest disruption or the most trivial situation became the talk of the village. You couldn't trust people not to talk, entertainment and gossip were thin on the ground, they needed something to keep their minds busy. Aside from the cluster of shops and the village hall, a railway track slithered through the centre; each route took you to bustling towns and cities which felt a world away from their reality. But it represented a path to somewhere else; an option to explore new places, meet new people and see new things, if they wanted to that is.

PROGRAMM_LDN are back with another two-tracker of sound-system influenced electronics, this time from Swedish producer and Terrorhythm alumni Mod Sens. Taking a collaborative approach to the EP, label bosses Will and Julian helped steer the producer into new musical realms, where he blends elements of techno, UKG and dubstep. The record is a personal journey inspired by a sense 0f growing and advancing which, in relation to the sonics on the two tracks, Mod Sens describes as 'moving somewhere and progressing'  which is 'really what brings the single and EP together.'

North London producer @rumu returns to Scuffed Recordings with his Wightman Wibble EP, embracing a glut of influences from the city’s club heritage.

The Wightman Wibble EP delves into rumu’s musical upbringing and heritage and explores a world of contrasts - with stillness building to explosive energy and floating euphoria giving way to murky grooves.

Finishing up the EP is ‘Ravanne’, which sees rumu take influence from his Mauritian heritage, with instrumentation and samples sourced from the island of Mauritius. The Ravanne is a rhythmic percussive instrument used in Sega music, which rumu samples throughout the track and channels through his love of UK bass genres.
