Chest pulsing quickly, she inhaled in short bursts, trying to regulate her breathing. Anxiety was slowly creeping in but she tried her best to keep it at bay, focusing her attention on a spot on the ceiling. The temperature was obscene, unbearable almost; the open window offering very little respite. After a while she began to succumb to the reality that she would be twisting and turning all night long, sleep was off the menu. 

Stepping up for the next release on Barcelona-based Playground Records comes from Ukrainian artist ID_UA, a two-tracker backed up by two hypnotic remixes. Sticky, ritualistic rhythms are present from the off, joined by sharp synths, acid touches and powerful basslines, while our pick, a remix from Disco Halal and Inside Out producer Kincaid, brings sparse tripped-out drums and modulated vocal snippets.

PREMIERE: ID_UA - Anyway (Kincaid Remix) [Playground Records]

The Devil Museum is an audio drama by Amsterdam based artist Jacob Dwyer. In it we listen to the diary of a man tasked with photographing all three-thousand of a museum’s devil sculptures. The work was produced on residency at Rupert (Lithuania) with support from the Mondriaan Fonds. It combines field recordings with original musical compositions by Kareem Lotfy and Jacob Oostra.

The Devil Museum is currently on display in the Corridor Project Space in Amsterdam.

For this Rubber Tijd special, Jacob Dwyer invited Arif Kornweitz, an Amsterdam based DJ and and co founder of JAJAJANEENEENEE radio, to remix excerpts from Dwyer's work into a mix.

Premiere: Andria - Whispers of Hurricane Ike [Sonorous Chamber]

Sounds Of Ogigia is a new label inspired by ancient Greek gnosis, ritual practices and deviant sounds. 

The label is a crossover from the homonymous show for the Edinburgh based EH-FM which is presented by dj and promoter Pako Vega since August 2018.

The first release is by one of the strongest names in the game these days: Aggelos Baltas aka Anatolian Weapons @anatolianweapons. 

On this occasion, the Greek man is delivering a full-on eclectic EP with his unique ethnic touch. This four-track EP is a delicacy for the nonconformists; going from a Psych-Rock exploration and Dancehall rhythms to cathartic Slow-Chug and EBM belters.

The EP will be release digitally only on 21.11.2020 exclusively via Bandcamp.

Rites Of Harvest no.1 ~ 29/09/2020

It was yesterday's news, thrown out to be drenched in the pouring rain. Though she'd disagree, nobody cared anymore, they'd already moved on to the next disposable piece of gossip. That was just how things worked, the life cycle of information, regardless of its validity, was shorter than most...

In recent years the underground electronic music scene in Mozambique's capital of Maputo has begun to garner some attention across the pond, put on the map by artists and producers like reputed beat maker and all round musical polymath Nandele. Having been surrounded by music from a young age, Nandele's influences stretch far and wide, from early influences like Fela Kuti, Kanda Bongo Man and Hugh Masekela to the 90s hip hop beats he used to freestyle over and the grunge band he went on to play drums in at the latter end of the decade.

All of these experiences further ignited his love for drums and later his move into electronic production, which has led to releases on the likes of Kongoloti Records, Already Dead and now London-based imprint Cotch International. His new EP is about challenging preconceptions of what a Mozambique artist should be creating and sees him blending elements of industrial, EBM, minimal synth and heavy hip hop beats with traditional instrumentation and mythology.

After two compilation tapes released on Dec. 2019 & July 2020, Bamboo Shows label is working on its next release, due for Dec. 2020. New format to celebrate the label’s first anniversary, with a solo LP on Vinyl.

With “Darkos LP”, Lyon-talent Jonquera (also known as The Pilotwings, his collaborative project alongside Eiger Drums Propaganda & Lastrack) offers us an incredible 45-minute 14-track album thanks to its captivating atmosphere and an impeccable technique.

Produced in one week only, the project between medieval dark-ambient, HD sound-design and esoteric illbient takes inspiration from Noise Music and Doom to introduce alternately a gloomy, epic or spiritual atmosphere.

A surprising album narrating a feudal struggle between a heretic woman and a priest in the small town of Charlieu, France. A metaphoric way to highlight the duality of the project, always oscillating between medieval darkness and contemporary techniques of electronic music production. An occult thematic that we also find in the album artworks, painted by Toulouse-based Artist Alison Flora with her own blood.

Through this third release, Erevan DJ’s keeps striving for Lyon-scene promotion and development. An objective started back in 2018 with the creation of Bamboo Shows project (label, podcast series, events). He also recently joined LYL Radio‘s management in July 2020, where he’s about to inaugurate the second season of his “Herbe À Chat” bimestrial residency.
