The leaves of the trees formed a canopy that stretched far across the woods, allowing for small slivers of sunlight to cascade on the floor. The intricate shadows were reminiscent of doilies, beautiful patterns flickering upon the thick grass. This was the perfect place to embark on her first trip, the surroundings were calm and quiet, it was a feast for the senses. The hands of her watch clicked loudly, she watched intensely as each second passed by. It had been almost an hour since she'd taken it. As she averted her gaze to the sky, watching the leaves above dance in unison, her body began to feel fuzzy. What adventures lay before her she could not begin to comprehend...

Straight out of Offenbach, a suburb on the fringes of Frankfurt, DJ Slyngshot and DJ Neewt run their label Yappin'. We've not heard much from the former in a while, but it turns out he's been hard at work in the studio making music under his new moniker Deesigner. A departure from his previous releases, his new EP CY-309 sees Slyngshot opt for a sludgier tripped-out approach working with deep low frequencies and acid synth lines.

Following up on his collaborative Ep "Middle Of The Road  Less Travelled" with Michal Turtle, HOVE is back with another solo EP on his imprint Light of Other Days. The ﬁve breezy and balearic-tinged tracks were recorded and produced in HOVE’s home studio in Zurich between December 2018 and June 2019.  On "In Motion" HOVE’s sound evolves from drifting and dreamy ambiences into tape-saturated mid-tempo bumpers  right back into shimmering chords, spiked with echoing guitars  and ﬁeld-recordings. As with its predecessors, he interweaves organic sounds with seductive rhythms and percolated ambient pads into a dense yet familiar HOVE sound. "In Motion"  is inspired by the pure feeling of listening to House, Synth-Pop,  Wave, Dub and New Age records. It is HOVE’s third solo EP  and his ﬁrst release of 2019.

PREMIERE : HOVE - Right Outside (Longer Version)

Leading Mexican label Duro welcome countryman Rigopolar for four of his fantastically expansive and expressive disco tunes. The now US based Rigopolar is a cosmic explorer and space sound aficionado with credits on the likes of Tom Tom Disco dating back five or so years. His mix of disco and techno has taken him to gigs round the world, podcasts for Soma and remixes on the likes of Beat is Murder. Brilliant opener ‘Black Mantis’ is a spooky cut with a mysterious lead that takes you into a mystic forest. The drums move things on as sci-fi sounds and withering synths add details to this most evocative musical story. ‘Espiral’ is a colourful, psychedelic scandi-disco classic with looping arps taking you ever further into the stars. Its craftsmanship is second to none as it draws you deeper and deeper in. The scintillating ‘Time’ is another lush cut with plenty of glistening and glowing synths. Always ascending through the mix, they lift your spirits and hands in equal measure while the deeper drums keep your feet moving. Last of all is ‘Crashes’, a slower and more melancholic track that is paired back to a steamy vocal and rolling drums. A poignant one-finger melody brings tenderness to this brilliantly introspective closer. This is an exceptional trip though timeless disco with a difference

Sascha Funke takes control of the first remix, in this case it is 'Lazer In The Jungle' which begins with a heart beat, sounds and percussion accompany, charming minimalism until you start the journey through a conversation of synthesizers marked by arrangements that bounce from one side to another, a celestial pad appears, the textures are acidified giving way to the bass that ends up to get us into the trip. Suddenly, everything disappears, empty, air, the percussions return, the groove begins, the hook of the original theme appears for the first time so that your whole body ends up dancing until the end.

sounding deep, mysterious, sleazy, cosmic and alluring.
Zakmina starts the trip. Building on recent release on Nein and XXX, here he ploughs a thunder like bass chug that gradually builds in its intensity. It’s a perfect scene-setter for the sleazy funk that follows; Salto Honduras continues to make the conversion from DJ to producer with the dark and drum-heavy ‘Betonada’ while Pontias takes us to the edge of the universe on a rocket made of slo-mo techno with ‘Easter Eggs’. Slow, heavy and star- gazing sexy. Dig deeper for more smouldering grooves as Mike Sacchetti’s ‘Dead As Disco’ gets full- on psychedelic in an early 200's Ewan Pearson kind of way while Volta Cab brings this heady session to close with a series of fractured electroid beats, lavish sweeping pads and a grizzly analog bassline that anchors this track deep deep deep into the dance, the night and our psyches.
Something for everyone. It’s another superlative EP from the Ombra family…

Label boss Aimes returns to his home base with a double track ep of chugging acid-tinged left-field techno. Both tracks implore multi-dimensional existiliast lyrics combined with cosmic leaning production.  
 A1 is the title track of course, describing an out of this world existential experience. The track is bouncy, fun, and slightly odd, but certainly danceable. 
 On A2 (which is offered up only on vinyl), Aimes takes the original song and turns it into a club-ready slow-burning stomper with a full on repetitious acidic bassline fit for any sleazy techno set.  
 The remix on A3 comes courtesy of Sean Johnston aka Hardway Bros (member of A Love from Outer Space with Andrew Weatherall) who turns the original into a dark and brooding version with a punchy bassline and cosmic synths.  
 Aimes’ second original on the EP, We Are Eternal, is a massive slowed down acid burner that reiterates the eternalness of humanity. Incredibly psychedelic in nature, the pulsing bass and bubbling acid line is prime for a dark and sweaty rave.  
 B2 comes courtesy of Panorama Bar resident Massimiliano Pagliara who submits a cosmic, dubbed out flip of the original, taking the listener on an extended spatial journey. 
 On B3 Japanese producer Que Sakamoto and his production partner NT ramp up the bpms for a dark disco rendition of the original.

Live Ones returns with a belting new 12’’ EP featuring five deep and sultry tracks from five artists hailing from four different countries. Windows (formally DJ Windows XP) kicks things off with their familiar dusty and melancholic drive, pulling all the right heartstrings on ‘I Wanted To Share My Feelings But You Kept Talking’. Label owner Lorca’s ‘Sirens’ follows this on a similar, ravey vibe with stomping kicks, breaks, breast-beating string samples and bleeps.

The flip side sees the talented and experienced Intr0beatz in amazing form utilizing rich, orchestral strings and his signature house grooves to produce the infectious ‘For The Love’. Keith Lorraine (also known as Baby Rollen) of London is up next with the emotionally rich ‘Wild Flower’. The track builds nicely into the final cut ‘Dreams’ from Canada’s Mathew Ferness. Here we see the artist at his best, using looping vocals and piano stabs to great effect, completing an EP that will work just as well in your headphones as it will on the dancefloor.

Fresh Take double up their output this month with a long awaited cut from one of the standout artists from their summer VA: Aymeric.

The wonder kid from Belgium, has served up two summer infused heaters which will brighten up even the bleakest of climates. The title track, Toulouse, is an instant standout with a shimmering French vocal and subtle driving bassline which any dancefloor is sure to feel. The B-side, Waiting For You, boasts a hypnotic disco groove and acts as the perfect tool to shift the tempo in any set.

The Toulouse EP is set for release March 27th.

[IMPORTED PREMIERE] Aymeric - Waiting For You

The original of Pastel was featured on my “Orion” EP, released in 2017 through Amsterdam based La Freund Recordings. Through the years it racked up more than 2 million streams on Spotify, which sparked the idea of creating a remix for it. 
I produced it in the previous weeks, for a large part in the Covid-19 induced quarantine so it seemed like a logical and nice gesture to give the track away during these weird and trying times.

Each door was etched with a title, presumably the meant something important to the workers and staff who walked the halls each day. Perhaps they offered a sense of grand superiority to those who were lucky enough to have an engraved front. It was all just a fancy bunch of bureaucratic rubbish which meant nothing beyond the concrete walls of the towering office block. Soon he would take a light to this place, burn it all to the ground and hope for the best. For now he simply knocked upon another oak coated door and sighed...

The tracks manifest and dematerialize themselves almost in a non-tangible and floating way, which can be seen as more than just a musical approach but rather shows the artist referring to issues of volatility and evanescence. While listening, some may find themselves in the dark and dusty atmosphere of a jazz club, where the band in the corner
at the other end of the room is playing their instruments just when the beat kicks in and puts you right into the club atmosphere.
