“Passing Signals” is the Suction Records label debut of The Jaffa Kid, aka UK producer Daniel Pringle. Over the past few years, The Jaffa Kid has been building up a strong following amongst braindance/d’n’b/acid heads, with killer releases on labels like 030303, Altered Sense, Utter, and his 2 standout “anonymous” WH03 and WH09 EPs on the Withhold label series. 

From the melody-drenched 303 acid of “Olyqu” and “Xom”, to the Bochum Welt-style electro vibes of “Ief” and “Tropet”, it was clearly just a matter of time before The Jaffa Kid appeared on Suction. With these 8 carefully curated tracks, Suction Records delivers 8 tracks of timeless melodic electronics, and surely the most solid The Jaffa Kid release to date, in our books!

He didn't consider himself a problem solver, solutions weren't his forte, rather he found himself growing more and more confused or flustered the longer the problem remained unanswered. Thus he'd made sure he was surrounded by others that could work these conundrums out on his behalf, however big or small. From life-changing decisions to trivial everyday occurrences, he let others guide his way, no questions asked.

It's always interesting when two seemingly disparate minds come together for a release. For the first time Capracara, the mind behind music for DFA, Cómeme & Unknown To The Unknown, joins forces with SMBD  (aka Simbad), who has releases under his belt for Hyperdub, Apron and his own Modern Dialect imprint, for a three-track EP that matches their contrasting styles. Raw and rhythmic, Club Ozone kicks off with two rhythmic machine rollers that blend elements of house, industrial and dub, whilst on the flip 'The Ozone' lightens up the vibe with a twinkling dream house number.

Pour ce nouveau numéro d'Oratio, nous vous emmenons à Cologne. c'est Aino Dj, membre du collectif Precey, qui nous emmène dans son univers. 
Pendant un an en France, Aino DJ a commencé à mixer pour le plaisir. Depuis, elle a joué dans des clubs comme Gewölbe et Jaki et a fait ses premiers pas hors de chez elle avec des concerts au Melt Festival et au Silbergold de Francfort.
La DJ basée à Cologne apporte une sélection de toute une variété de sous-genres différents, toujours enracinés dans un mélange dynamique d'électro et de breaks, mais jamais limités à cela. Elle aime tordre ses sets dans des directions inattendues et ne se concentre jamais uniquement sur un genre, ne voulant pas répondre aux attentes concernant le son qu'elle joue. C'est Speechmaker qui s'occupera de la première heure.

Mind Dance return with the second volume in their ‘Mystic Minds’ VA series. Launched last year as a way to continue the strong collaborative nature of the electronic music underground, each installment will shine a light on local Australian talent and their cross-continental contemporaries.

Continuing this mission with a new batch of friends, family and former label mates in tow, round two rallies six artists from home soil and overseas for another deep excursion into the vast expanses of dance music.

From across the pond we have Dutch producer and Music From Memory regular Dazion who kicks off the VA with a wonky slice of rhythmic downtempo, and Phran, a Barcelona-based artist and member of IVAN - a duo alongside Ivy Barkakati - who puts his foot on the gas with a stomping techno cut.

Closer to home we have Aussie dance veteran and the man behind Mind Dance’s last release, Andy Rantzen, deliver a tight bleep-soaked acid jam, followed by Leo James and Mousse flying the flag for Melbourne with twinkling IDM and laid-back vocal house, respectively. Finally label boss Furious Frank closes out proceedings with a downbeat percussive house number to usher in summer, if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere that is...

PREMIERE: Andy Ranzten - Sleepwalkers In The City [Mind Dance]

A heavy knock resounded through the house, then came the door bell reverberating loudly off the walls. They hadn't been waiting long, perhaps five minutes or so but impatience had already started to get the better of them. Without warning the door suddenly swung open with a tremendous thud, yet no-one waited to greet them on the other side.

Slowly and cautiously they entered the house and immediately found themselves in one enormous room, so vast you could barely make out the other side. It was completely empty, making it feel all the more cavernous. Would the person who extended this invitation make themselves known soon? Only time would tell.

Chouk Bwa & The Ångströmers is the brain child of a group of musicians and producers from two opposite ends of the world. Connected by a shared love of rhythm and psychedelic moods, the Haitian Vodou band and alternative Belgian production duo released their first collaboration - a debut album in 2020 called Vodou Alé - before joining forces again for Ayiti Kongo Dub earlier his year on Swiss label Bongo Joe - now, they're releasing the second part of the EP.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, with both groups bringing singular qualities that fuse to create something truly mind-bending and hypnotic. Polyrhythmic drum patterns are paired with dubwise electronics, raw, primordial atmospheres and ceremonial chants, which send the listener into a trance-like state.

Invisible Inc is over the moon to finally be announcing this long-awaited double album of new music by Secret Circuit.

Presented here are 21 new pieces (or 22 if you count the bandcamp-exclusive digital bonus) recorded between 2020 and 2022 which capture that spacey, otherworldly quality Secret Circuit is known for but they also very much veer into the warmer, earthier and generally more ambient textural territories of his E Ruscha V and Only Thingz work...an altogether softer sensibility. The fact that the second disc of the double album is primarily ambient further confuses the issue! But Secret Circuit this most definitely is!

From a plethora of demos (60+) Invisible Inc label boss GK Machine wanted to distill these down and explore a side of Ruscha's that he felt hadn't been heard before, focussing on Ruscha's more emotive yet at the same time experimental side. Is that a paradox? Well, let's say only very rarely do we hear modular synths doing something so human-sounding, and when these are juxtaposed alongside slide guitars, live bass and vocodered vocals, we have something very special indeed.

Then there's the artwork...all lovingly drawn by E Ruscha V himself and landing on our desk long after the record had gone into production and test pressings delivered and approved. The package is made complete with a double-sided colour insert with liner notes and another of Ruscha's mind-warping doodles. Oh and the liner notes are written in reverse so you'll need a mirror to read them. Of course they are!

To cut a long story short, everything about this release is archetypal classic Secret Circuit and couldn't be anyone else. A highpoint for the label in 2023, no doubt.
