In this place respite was a privilege, it never came for free or without some last minute condition attached to it. From dusk till dawn you were expected to work yourself to the bone; and when you weren't physically doing so, you couldn't help but think about it. How much of your daily thoughts it consumed; how little you found time to delight in your interests and hobbies - it had simply become the be-all and end-all. Could you steer your thoughts onto an unrelated subject? Could there be space for your own enjoyment? Somebody had to show us where we could find the "switch off" button...

Reel Long Overdub have launched a new compilation series, Reel Small World, to celebrate those wonderful connections you make with other like-minded music lovers around the world. With the aim of profiling burgeoning scenes and artists in countries across the globe, for the first release they've teamed up with New Delhi-based producer Monophonik, who has released on the label several times before, to shine a light on the scene in his home of India. Featuring ten producers including GoodMostlyBad, FILM and Rafiki, the release traces the sounds setting the electronic underground scene alight, from trance, techno and jungle to minimal and breaks. All money raised from the release will be donated to Salaam Baalak Trust who support children living on the streets.

Tongue-in-cheek as usual, belleter Niklas Wandt melts up pianos, acid lines and bass heavy breaks as raw material for Die Glocke (The Bell). When the hunchback pours the lead of three decades of rave culture onto your lost souls, it’s too late for shelter. Fantastic Twins evaporates not just the bell but the whole bell tower into particles of peak time madness for the mental cases.

On the flip Bodyzeit heats up on an even more old schoolish tip with breaks that definitely win the bumper car dancefloor. Very sorry for the spilt drinks, thrown fags, popped pills, ripped shirts and funny faces trying to sing along these german vocoder phrases. Borusiade doing some serious bodywork, shifting gears down in her lowrider manner, modding this burner into a dreamish but deep wee-hour masterride.

A dynamic and driven celebration of techno, ‘Intelligent Jump Rope Music’, is a highly crafted and focused release by Thai producer ‘Sarayu’. The four track EP is an exquisite selection of darker club focused tracks, featuring an uplifting and celebratory remix from one of Europe's finest club producers Locked Groove.
	
Though shifting styles the four track EP presents a producer within his element, a craft of high quality and club ready dance music. On the A side, Sarayu opens the EP with the ‘The Bag’, a myriad of infused warm synths and driving hats placing the listener solidly on the club floor. E30 Track (A2) then follows with a much moodier bass filled aura, fluidly moving the listeners onwards with a set of sizzling synths and well crafted drums. On the B side the Album title ‘Intelligent Jump Rope Music’ drops the tempo to 120 bpm with acid tinged synths and dynamic snares. B2 then brings in Locked Groove, driving the tempo back to 136 bpm with an ecstatic club finish, intertwining floating sets of emotional synths and grooving hits together to tremendous result.

Something had to give, that much was certain. The situation had become unsustainable and one of them needed to take their leave - who would be the one to take the hit though was another matter entirely... There was a lot riding on that decision. They'd hoped all of this would end in a graceful, amicable compromise but the reality was far from that, only time and space could heal these wounds now. 

You can't mention Tin Man without mentioning acid. The producer has become synonymous with the 303, using the infamous machine to create all kinds of squelchy and hypnotic variations for Global A Records, Acid Test and Infrastructure New York as well as teaming up with artists like John Tejada and Jozef K. For his next release, he makes his debut on Bureau B with Arles, a release that departs from his usual dance floor offerings and explores beautiful melodies and cosmic vibrations - there's no question it's still a Tin Man creation though.

Put on headphones, close your eyes and merge into Benedikt Frey’s 'Fastlane'. Imagine you’re sitting in the driver’s seat of a an automobile, one with exceptional horsepower and torque, and as you stare out the windshield you see the red light, warping in fata-morgana, about a mile down the road. It’s a straight road, black top, two lanes, and against your better judgment you’ve decided to floor the gas. There’s no hesitation in your muscle, your ankle or the ball of your foot, which you’ve realized is some kind of universal pivot, a first point of contact that merges your body with the will of machine. In this moment you’re in awe of the reality that you, a human being, an animal, could have grown out of pond scum into something so advanced as to engineer this thing, a mechanical beast capable of such overwhelming power and exhilaration, but you also feel a seductive dread, an outside force diverting you from caution toward a dangling carrot of curiosity, asking yourself, How far can I take this thing? The dread, now constant, is numbed, equalized by an adverse and intoxicating gratification. You feel both of these sensations in real time, however, instead of taking responsibility for yourself, friends, family and innocent bystanders, you cement your foot to the floor and lean your head back. The noise around you fades to mute, you smell the benzene-scented air, feel the wind on your face, the menacing vibration of the vessel you control beneath you and every grain of asphalt under its tires. This mile has now lasted an eternity and you’ve left your body for some outside view, as if you’re watching the high climax scene in a film. You’re past the point of no return so you embrace this sense of abandon and lean into fate. The film has become slow motion, crawling at a pace so mesmerizing you convince yourself there is an option to eject yourself from this madness, but as you finally let go of your last morsel of fear, you run the red light and become the nucleus of a fantastic glistening sculpture of torn metal, glass, oil, broken dreams and heartache. 'Fastlane' may be just drum machines and synthesizers if you’re timid, but listen harder and hear a catastrophic reality of existence, a wreckage so gruesome we dare not rubberneck, but it is our nature to stare.
