The cosmic-pop french producer Sofian Rouge comes back a few month after the release of his "Floating" mini-album with this remix EP on Global Warming Records. First, one of our favorite italian dj and producer Fabrizio Mammarella (head of Slow Motion Records and of mysterious disco-influenced electronic projects as Telespacio or Black Spuma) gave us a killer slow and dark version of « Starglazer », shaped for cold nights, obscure sets and sweaty clubs. Same track choice to remix for JMII, spanish producer discovered on John Talabot’s Hivern Discs crew. He brings us to his own universe with deep synths and analog house with this remix that sounds like a soundtrack to space-travel. And as bonus we have a dub version of Cylene 8 by Sofian himself.

Bionda e Lupo are like little you'll have heard before, a boy/girl band like no other. Synth wave is fed a line of modern alienation, delusory disco to a disdainful drum beat, house emptied and ridiculed. Rhythms are stark, melodies are as mechanical as the lyrics. "Zug Der Vogel" is sparse, vocals intertwine in an empty embrace whilst bars sparkle. "Twoi Glasza" is more playful. Bright words shimmer against sweeping strings. The past is parodied across the EP but nowhere more so than in "Die Kinder Aus Dem Park." A former classic dug out before being peppered by machine gun percussion. The stilted rhyme of "Eckstein" closes, a ballad of bittersweet images and lost hopes.

After unanimous praise for Talker’s 'Battle Standards' and play from the likes of Ancient Methods, Headless Horseman, Sunil Sharpe, Mumdance, Shifted and many others, Standards & Practices returns with a powerful set of remixes from iconic UK techno artists Surgeon, Regis, and Broken English Club.

Anthony Child kicks off the proceedings with his first remix in over a year, and it's one of his best to date. His version of 'Battle Standard' takes the track in a radically different direction, building a hair-raising wall of sound culminating in an unforgettable melodic refrain, beautiful and brutal in classic Surgeon fashion. The A2 track is a special bonus: a Talker cut only previously available on a limited edition CD compilation. Entitled 'My Favorite Color Is Gold', this is a dark and cinematic ambient take on '(Gold) Standard'.

On the flip, Oliver Ho delivers a remix of DJ favorite 'Snub Nose' under his Broken English Club alias. His overhaul is nothing short of remarkable. Only retaining a segment of the original drum track, he adds a post-punk-esque vocal while a vicious, monotone bassline snarls underneath, sounding like it slithered off of a Big Black LP sometime around 1985. Regis closes the EP with his brilliant broken-beat take on 'Battle Standard', stripping the original to its essentials for maximum dancefloor impact.

As with the label’s previous EPs from Stave and Talker, this package features stunning full-color sleeve art from acclaimed graphic design studio Common Name, and a limited number are pressed on silver colored vinyl. Distribution by Triple Vision, and EPM Music.

Leon Revol is set to release a new EP on Beats Of No Nation. It will be the fourth in their catalogue and comes from the24 year old Bordeaux based producer who has previously released music on the likes of Kolour, Secret Reels, Future Disco, and Monologues.

DIN, the project of Los Angeles's Josie Vand and Greg Vand, are able to extract choice elements from eras past and distill it into an impressively focused and modern sound. Every sound, every texture, every voice falls perfectly into place, as the palette effortlessly winds from warm and pastoral to cold and sharp, leaving you room to both dance and dream. The "Real Dirt" LP is infectiously understated from start to finish, and as the follow up to their "Saturate" EP on Ascetic House it proves that DIN is a serious force in modern synth music. 

Those familiar with the label may recognize Greg Vand from his role in the great High-Functioning Flesh, however DIN will likely appeal more to fans of Factory Floor, Tropic of Cancer, and Boy Harsher. Josie Vand has previously performed as a member of DVA Damas and contributed her visual art talents to the Jealous God label.

She was left alone once again, in the empty house surrounded by the walls that haunted and twisted between them. There was little left in her heart, she just wished that she could see him sometimes. Perhaps it was supposed to be this way, distant and sad. She sat at the table and watched the outside world float by through the glass. 

Tilman returns to release on Klamauk for the second time. He brings with him his golden take on deep house and orchestrates a careful assortment of charmed pads and samples.

It were as if a vast audience were observing her long legs march with power and eerie stealth. She knew, he knew and I know. The music began to play even louder in the basement as she began to dance. It was an elegant, slow moving feat which left little to the imagination. This was not what she had dreamt of but by heavens was she good. 

Hubie Davison appears on Needs, a new not for profits record label founded by Bobby Pleasure. The proceeds of the first release will go to mental health charity Mind.

The call of the night welcomed her home. She had ran for thousands of miles by day across the dandy dunes and the grassy plains but something always ensured she returned to her place of rest. "Ducue" echoed out across the night as the stars sparkled in a hazy glow up above. The sky was a pitch, deep black but it was not threatening like it once had been. Now it was still, peaceful and dreamy. Half the world was asleep whilst another roared and rioted. This was far away. 

Love Letters is an artist whom we have supported previously on Ransom Note, an interesting up and comer with a distinct sound reminiscent of the days when house was... better. Yeah, we said it. Anyway, here is a new track on Yield Records, listen to "Ducue".

Hackney-based post-punk outfit @aathenss were formed in late 2015, their early rehearsals taking place in the basement of Kingsland Road's now-defunct DIY space Power Lunches which closed shortly afterwards. That dark, sweaty, hallucinatory basement was where I first witnessed the band's incendiary live show, which bristles with tightly-wound energy.

Now, Aathens are releasing their debut album 'Virtue Signal' on East London imprint @blank-editions, and we're premiering the record's first track, 'Idiot Thing'. The taut, spindly guitar lines and acrobatic rhythm section call to mind a cross between Television and the Minutemen - and it's just the tip of the iceberg on an album which announces Aathens as one of the most exciting and substantial guitar groups in the UK right now.

One day the shop had been robbed, his response had not been one of desperate fear or strife but of blissful content. He had the next day off....
