Dublin DJ/producer Sputnik One shares the second offering from his recently launched label N-Face - the follow up to 2022’s debut release Supa Natural/Grafters ft. Belfast-based rapper EMBY which was supported by Ben UFO, CCL, DJ Voices and more.

The club-destroying compilation spans 10 tracks, featuring bubbling bass and glitchy breaks through cheeky wafters to fresh and exciting techno and dancefloor mutations from a total of 11 artists and groups from three continents. Rising talents Dual Monitor, Glimmerman, LWS & No Sir join label head Sputnik One & K-Wata, as well as fresh faces St. Amp, Outl1er, DJ Gerard, Puncta and Young Muscle. N-Face 002 V/A showcases the Dublin artist’s strong vision and A&R hand and celebrates some of the most talented underground heads about. Staying in line with the spirit of collaboration set out in N-Face 001, Sputnik One teams up with K-Wata for their contribution to the compilation, with ‘Back Innit’ a chugging drama infused percussive roller.

The artwork, designed by Harvey Wise gathers historical objects from disparate corners of the world, using the ‘Hook / Crook’ monogram to tie everything together thematically. Hot on the heels of the labels’ first release N-Face invites a dynamic group of artists to explore the vast spectrum of percussive electronics in forward facing dance music.

Bringing together artists from different corners of the genre spectrum for one-off releases and unexpected collaborations, N-Face focuses on pairing cutting-edge sonics with equally specific visual direction, working with a new artist for each subsequent release's design.

Ulla Records is back with another VA : « Shifted Frequencies ». For our two years anniversary we wanted to treat you with something special, our first physical release, on vinyl !

Now you know our mojo : to explore that 80s inspired, wonky disco sound, in all its shapes and forms ! From Italo to acid, EBM or New Wave, we wanted to showcase some of the multiple facets of the label, our interpretation of these « Shifted Frequencies ». For those who caught Furness' Four 4 The Floor EP, and are familiar with his work, this release is further evidence of how much of a fledgling purveyor of deep grooves and heavy-hitting rhythms Furness is. Title track Gone Fishing utilises string keys as the foundation of the track and marries the emotive, elongated synths with a dubby bassline and quick hitting snares. Acropolis is tougher, centering distorted pads against intermittent piano chords, muffled vocal grabs and a deep, cosmic bassline. Red808 is a no-nonsense roller, with its slick snare and hi-hat/hand-clap tandem working superbly against the climbing synths. Blackstar adopts a similar framework to Acropolis, wrapping up the EP in style with its similarly lo-fi, distorted percussion charged against rapturous chords taking the track into further sonic terrain.

"Once upon a time, in a world wild web far beyond our own, there was a colony of creatures known as the Tazlings. These little creatures were skilled in the art of transmutation, able to change their form and shape at will. They lived in a beautiful forest filled with all kinds of magical plants and creatures.



One day, a human named Donald Dust stumbled upon the Tazlings' colony. He was a greedy man who had been searching for a way to make himself rich and powerful. When he saw the Tazlings' abilities, he decided to capture them and force them to use their powers for his own gain.



However, the Tazlings were not easily taken. They used their transmutation skills to hide and evade Donald Dust's grasp. In his frustration, he turned to the cursed fruits that grew in the forest, hoping to use their dark magic to capture the Tazlings.



Little did he know, the cursed fruits had a mind of their own, and their magic was more powerful than he could handle. As he tried to capture the Tazlings, the cursed fruits turned on him, transforming him into a grotesque creature.



The Tazlings, free from Donald Dust's clutches, were grateful for the cursed fruits' intervention. From that day forward, they made sure to keep their colony hidden from outsiders, using their transmutation skills to protect themselves and their magical world wild web."
